The author is not a reporter, but a neighbor. Little twists to the truth do tend to ruin a person's credibility.

I am wondering what he will say in next week's installment.

I understand but I think that White has had his 15 minutes of fame and I am personally tired of the same spiel from him. When I read that he had written letters to RW & MEH..well that was enough for me and I did not appreciate his reference to the Pope...

I wonder why the courts released those particular pics of him in the lingerie out of all of them.

Did they just grab the first ones they saw? Blech.

What do you mean by "out of all of them" SGotN?
Are you privy of what the 'other' pictures contain? Do you think that the 'others' would have not grossed us even MORE?

IMHO, they didn't just grab the first ones they saw. IMHO, those were released because those were the most "decent" ones.
Would you rather have them released the ones with no lingerie?!!!

I am so relieved and grateful to the judge for her great decision of not showing to the courtroom, nor releasing ANY pictures/videos depicting any of the victims.

OMG, he looks so RIDICULOUS. Jeeze.

He could have placed the camera on a buffet shelf - it looks like it may have been a dining room he took it in.
I know, he looks very ridi.., but in his mind he probably looks sexy :D LOL

Sorry guys, should have added a *** warning sign *** there

About the placement of the camera, I cannot picture a buffet being that close to him, and the camera is obviously not zoomed in; otherwise, the background would be all blurry, and it is not blurry.

Pic is a bit dark, but if you highlight the picture, you can see the kitchen is on our left (I can see a microwave on the countertop), and behind him looks like there is a door that leads to a deck/backyard. Right behind him we can see a fireplace, so that's the living room or family room.

Unless he moved furniture around or used a tripod, I cannot figure out how that pic was taken, JMO.

I understand there were a few hundred pics, no? I'm just wondering if the ones released were the tamest or if they were the ones that would be the most humiliating to him? (I hope yes).

I think seeing him in that peach bra and underwear was sickening enough

Are his parents still alive?

Interesting, the Pope reference reminds me of another case going on in Ottawa.

When did you meet him SGotN? Around July 2009 or earlier?
Yes, all his parents are alive. His mother, his father and his step-father. He also has a younger brother. Apparently, his father remarried (for the 3rd. time).

I met him when he became our new W Comd, taking over for Col Hood. Our office was only 4 doors down from his, and to get to the bathroom, you had to walk down past his office. He was always very personable and friendly, and would walk all through HQ.

Unlike the previous WComd

I didn't know him or had ever met him prior to that.

So that would be July 15, 2009, right?

LOL, you didn't like the previous WComd? How ironic isn't it? I'm sure he must be a much better human being!

I tend to look at people in the eyes, and when I saw that interview of RW, I don't know, but there is something really odd about the way he looks and the way he moves his eyes, that if I had met him in person, I'm sure he would have creeped me out!

Yep, it was July 09.

No one liked the previous W Comd...LOL

Looking at his pictures now (especially the one taken on his Change of Command parade where he's looking straight ahead), and knowing what I know now...yeah, he looks creepy. But looking back, I didn't see any of that at all. He actually always had a kind face..friendly face.

Just goes to show you just never know the evil that lurks within :(

You said it: EVIL !!!!

So what is the military going to do to punish RW for all he has done? For betraying the honour of the military, for tarnishing the name of the Canadian Air Force? For taking 2 precious lives, after all the torture he subjected them to? For all the pain to their families and the communities, not only Belleville, Ottawa, Brighton, but all of Ontario and I think I can include all of Canada? For the 2 young women he terrorized and sexually assaulted? For all the women and families whose homes he broke into and invaded the privacy of their homes? For all the little girls traumatized by knowing a sexual predator got into their bedrooms, and rummaged through their underwear and stole pictures and panties, and whatever else he took? ETC, ETC, ETC.
For betraying the honour of the military, for tarnishing the name of the Canadian Air Force?
Besides taking away his 2 medals and his rank? Is that all the military going to do?

Aren't they going to set a good example to prevent this or anything similar from happening again?

I forgot about the doorbell ringing mystery, when this woman was ALONE WITH HER CHILDREN.
http://www2.canada.com/story.html?id=2785772
Voula Caloca, who also lives on Steller Street, remembers her doorbell would ring at night when she was home alone with the kids. It became less frequent after police began surveillance in the neighbourhood, she said. Now she wonders if it was the colonel at her door checking to see if she was home.

omg

somehow I missed this

that is terrifying to think about

There's nothing more they CAN do quite honestly.

He was convicted by a civilian court. He can't be tried again by a military court martial (double jeopardy). They've denied him his severance pay (which I understand was to be over $70,000). It really pisses me off that he's still going to receive his pension. I think they should give him his return of contributions and be done with him. Out of that money, he should be forced to pay some sort of restitution to his victims and their families.

Stripped him of his CD and I believe one other medal...big deal. Everyone gets a CD after 12 years of service (then a rosette every 10 years thereafter). Big whoopie.

Yes. Here's a video that contains clips of Williams before he got caught out:

He came across as a straight-up guy who was friendly and approachable.

The colonel has the same stern expression in all the pics that were released. It's as if he was reporting for inspection. Hmmm.. maybe that's a weird fantasy of his, mixing his military experiences with the fetish.

If you really look closely, his pupils always look very big. They look like druggie eyes to me.

hey! you are right max! that could be it, maybe he was high most of the time, that would explain why he couldn't sleep, and not that he didn't need sleep.

I am wondering if the original and uncut version of that interview (posted above by Mr. Happy) is still retrievable, because that edited version (YouTube clip above) does not contain the segments were we could see that very creepy look in his eyes, nor the odd way he moves his eyes while he talks. Not friendly at all.

Where there's a will there's a way. According to that newspaper column I posted a bit back, they could start by considering an obstruction of justice charge. As the person in charge of CFB Trenton, it is obvious that RW knew about the search for JL, and his personnel were involved in a search and rescue role. RW took photos of himself with media coverage of the search. Sins of omission and sins of commission are sins nonetheless. This one example shows that although JL was a civilian, RW was directly involved on behalf of the military.

If we consider the case of Gen. Daniel Menard, and obstruction of justice charges for acts that did not involve torture, degradation and murder, it seems obvious that the failure of the military to take further action is sending a message to Canadians. Taking away a couple of measly medals (did they even involve meritorious acts or self-sacrifice, or were they merely for time spent)? Taking away his rank? No severance pay, but a pension that will far eclipse it anyways?

The message being sent is that dishonorable people get court martials, but the most dishonorable of the bunch are above it. It must surely sting among the ranks when others who have committed far less grievous acts are court martialled, but the worst of the worst walk away. In an image-conscious era, you'd think the military would want to wash this stain away. But they don't seem to get it. Where there's a will there's a way.

The Provost Marshal and CFNIS should be called to task, even though they're busy:

IMO.

I remember a caption under a couple of pictures saying "unknown location", and made me wonder where could those picture had been taken, since LE contacted all B&E victims listed on RW's spreadsheet, I assume they would have been able to identify each and every location.

Another thing that I have been wondering about is if he used a tripod when photographig himself, like for example, this picture looks like it was taken from a higher place than all the others.
If we didn't know better, it would appear as if someone else is taking this particular pic.

picture taken from this Gallery of pics: http://www.torontosun.com/news/columnists/joe_warmington/2010/10/18/15729471.html#/news/canada/2010/10/18/pf-15737816.html

Given that RW was meticulous in documenting his crimes, how could there possibly be an "unknown location"? At the very least, RW knew where he committed his crimes, and he most likely documented every one. Is it the Crown Prosecutors and lawyers who have arranged for the "unknown location" label?

I think it's more of a trophy photo, kind of like the trade that went on among soldiers after the Battle of Little Big Horn and other historical battles in the U.S. Historically, warriors have taken trophies, some of which were far more personal than clothing.
