Victim lashes out at Russell Williams' wife

'I want to get the bad energy out,' mother of two says

By JOE WARMINGTON, QMI Agency
Last Updated: April 2, 2011 4:21pm
"There's not an hour goes by that you don't think about it," says Massicotte in an exclusive interview with QMI Agency.

The reminders of her real-life horror movie are everywhere.

Williams is in prison, the women he murdered are buried, their families destroyed and his so-called wife Mary Elizabeth Harriman is who knows where?
Massicotte has not been able to work, and is having difficult paying bills, let alone having money for therapy sessions.

And every noise at night plays its own mind game.

"It's not easy," she says of the victimization that does not stop.

So what would help make this right?

"I want to sue them," she says.

"I want to get both of them on the witness stand."

Instead, she says, she has been negotiating a settlement through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.

"I did get an offer for settlement," she says, adding the figure they wanted her to take was $75,000.

"It made me feel like a prostitute," she says. "It was an insult."

A vile insult.

No figure is going buy back her peace of mind, her innocence, her life forever altered.

But remember, this women so savagely damaged is spending her remaining funds to rid her home of pure evil while her attacker enjoys the fruits of his military pension and three square meals.

While Massicotte worries about surviving, Williams' wife uses legal moves to shelter their assets and even filed for compensation for her investigation-damaged hardwood floors.

"Pay up you pencil-pushing slugs.

And drop down to Cosy Cove Lane and take a look at how a brave victim is trying to renovate her life without any help."

Does this mean she doesn't want someone else to pay for her floor to be redone?!
You just cannot buy or be born into that kind class.
Now that is a lady.

🤬🤬🤬🤬 allegations against sex killer Williams no surprise, says investigator
OPP Det.-Insp. Chris Nicholas would not confirm Tuesday that police found child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 on Williams' computer but laid no charges in exchange for guilty pleas for the more serious offences. Nicholas did point out that the former military commander's sexual preferences were revealed during the four-day sentencing hearing.

Williams had an interest in young girls and teens, broke into houses and took pictures of himself wearing their lingerie, Nicholas said.

"It should be no shock to people. Are people just realizing if that story is true that this guy liked young girls?" Nicholas said. "That came out pretty bluntly in court and he got a life sentence in court."

Nicholas said the case against Williams is far from over. Police are analyzing Williams' belongings and continue to search for links between him and unsolved crimes across the country and beyond. They won't stop until they run out of leads to chase, Nicholas said.

"We're still investigating him for other offences and I can't comment on them because they're ongoing," Nicholas said. "We are doing our due diligence and we are going through the history of Russ Williams and his past."

1st BBM:I do wonder why there has been no statement by MEH to show the public that she does have regret for her husband's actions, and does have sympathy for his victims. I don't understand it. I feel terrible for the survivors of RW.

2nd BBM: Who would put their name on the sale of that home? Can't see it happening. It should be razed anyway, IMO.

"I would like to know why she is making this so difficult?" says Massicotte of Harriman.

"I have not heard one word from her on what happened to the victims or some sympathy for them. Maybe she is a victim, too, but I can tell you, we all were. I would like her to step up to the plate and say something."

Massicotte says she is also being asked to sign forms that preclude her from suing others, including police. "I am not a litigious person," she says. "I just want justice."
She fought for her life and "for all of his victims and their remaining families" she will fight to ensure proper compensation comes.

"Their cottage is worth $200,000 and I am told Williams has been trying to get realtors from inside the pen," she says.

"I'd like to see it torn down."

Christie Blatchford has done a book review on her co-worker Timothy Appleby's new book on Williams.

Russell Williams: A murderer with a soft side

by CHRISTIE BLATCHFORD

In his new, hot-off-the-presses book about the deviant sex killer Russ Williams, The Globe and Mail’s Tim Appleby concludes, with backup from the few people who knew Mr. Williams well and some sharp observations of his own, that the former air force colonel is not a psychopath.

“He is not even close to being one,” Appleby writes.

Timothy Appleby is interviewed here.

Appleby, a crime reporter at the Globe and Mail, said that sticking point provides great insight into Williams' character.

"Williams was willing to plead guilty to murder, to sexual assault, to this great long list of dreadful things he had done but he was not willing to admit he had the child 🤬🤬🤬🤬," Appleby told CTV's Canada AM.

"I think this is a significant clue as to who this guy is because he had a deep sense of shame, he knew what he'd done was wrong, and he'd done it anyway, he chose to. I think the fact he did not want this information to come out speaks volumes as to who he is."

In the book, Appleby submits that Williams could somehow justify murder, and even rape, as actions that could be acceptable within a military context or in time of war. But the abuse of children was something the career air force officer simply couldn't justify.

Appleby also believes Williams' apparent regret and shame over his actions proves he does not fit the traditional description of a psychopath.

"The clue to his personality is that he's not at all like Paul Bernardo. He has feelings and attachments and a conscience. I firmly believe he knew what he was doing was wrong, and so did the judge," Appleby said.

After reading the article that said the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board of Ontario offered RW’s sexual assault victim $75,000, I went to their website and found the criteria for receiving compensation for crime victimes is different in each province in Canada.

In Ontario, if a victim does not apply within two years, they can still submit an application whereas in the Province of Manitoba for example, to be eligible for compensation, you must file within one year after the incident occurred.

The Province of Ontario states they may award the following types of compensation for physical injuries and/or psychological harm that resulted from a violent crime in Ontario whereas the Province of Manitoba does not compensate a crime victim for pain and suffering.

http://www.cicb.gov.on.ca/en/award1.htm

<snipped>

Province of Ontario; It is important that we receive your application form within two years of the crime taking place. We can extend the two-year limitation period when it is warranted, but you will have to request such an extension and explain your reason(s) for the delay in the application form.

We may award the following types of compensation for physical injuries and/or psychological harm that resulted from a violent crime in Ontario. In order to be awarded compensation, your injuries must be more than merely transient or trifling in nature.

• Treatment Expenses: May be awarded for ambulance fees, hospital charges, prosthetics, eyeglasses, prescriptions, dental expenses, counselling expenses etc. Only expenses not payable by any other source will be considered.
• Travel to Treatment Expenses: May be awarded if you are required to travel more than 40 km each way from your residence for treatment.
• Loss of Income: May be awarded to you (or a person responsible for your care) if you were unable to work because of injuries arising from the incident. We may award up to a maximum of $1,000 per month for lost income. Generally, this is paid out to a maximum of $50 per day or $250 per week. Any benefits received from other sources will be considered and possibly deducted from this amount.
• Pain and Suffering: Awards are based on several factors, including:
a. the nature of the crime/abuse,
b. any breach of trust or abuse of power,
c. the age and vulnerability of the victim,
d. the degree of violence involved,
e. the seriousness of the injuries sustained or the extent of the harm caused,
f. the recovery period,
g. the possibility of a continuing disability,
h. the impact the crime/abuse had on the victim's life.
• Other: Costs associated with the support of a child born as a result of a sexual assault.

Costs which are NOT covered by the Compensation for Victims of Crime Program in the Province of Manitoba include:
• Compensation for pain and suffering
• Stolen items/money or damaged property
• Injuries which occurred when Workers Compensation is payable
• Injuries which occurred as a result of a car accident
• Injuries sustained outside of Manitoba
• Benefits that are payable through other insurance plans or programs

It's a shame that Appleby's publishers had to put Williams in full uniform on the cover of the book, although it's sure to sell more copies. The Canadian military, especially those who served under him, will not be pleased.

Totally agree with you JayFriend; that was my first thought as soon as I saw the cover :(
though, like you said, if he had used one of these pics, it might discourage people from buying the book

Maybe it is just my imagination, but the photo with RW standing in front of the promotional poster, is eerily prophetic..A female's head appears to emerge from the side of his head, her body shadowed by his, the words nearby are - force and home - and a line of uniformed men, are just in the distance..

Even though he was not charged or convicted of possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, I need the satisfaction of labeling him as GUILTY of this since he refused to admit his guilt of this crime.

I read the review of the book by Appleby, and my two cents: Other murderers and psychos had friends too and were nice to their pets. Doesn't mean they weren't psychos. JMO

matou, are you suggesting the new thread could also include "pedophile" or "possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬" in the title? Salem needs to know how to name the new thread, because this one is getting too long. Here is her post asking us:

Unrelated : I have been wondering:
( 1 ) How is RW feeling now that he knows his "secret" is out there?
( 2 ) When did MH find out about this? Last week, as the rest of the world or right after it was found by LE in his computer?

BELLEVILLE, Ont. – Col. Dave Cochrane is leaving his post as commander of Canada's largest air base, but defence ministry officials have refused to comment on his move until after the federal election.

Thanks, Dotr.

I'm not entirely sure, perhaps the poster that worked at the base could enlighten us as to to whether my memory serves correct, but, I do believe that Col. Cochrane was best suited for the urgent and immediate replacement of RW at the time, after the nightmare happened, but, I do not believe he was the most qualified for the position, and he was what might have been an interim replacement?

I could be totally wrong in my memory here, and I am certainly not implying incompetance, just that his position as Wing Commander was always a somewhat temporary one.

Why not just have a new thread #6 - I'm not sure why you would even need to change the title - it's unlikely he'll ever be charged with another crime, and I don't know what the big deal is about his finances and divorce, though that's just my :twocents:

aaron lacey
To his neighbours, Aaron Lacey is a bit of a loner, a quiet guy who likes to keep to himself.

But to Niagara police, the self-taught artist from Beamsville is allegedly deceitful and aggressive in his pursuit of information from a senior Canadian Forces official.

I think the concern is that assets were transferred over very quickly so that victims couldn't get any of it. I'm sure this is a very big deal to the victims.
