Interestingly different tone from Trump after speaking with Carney this morning. You might almost think he's back pedaling!

This link includes threats from the USA government that Canada will be punished if Canada develops trade relationships with other nations, such as the EU. There is no trade relationship with the USA, so why does the USA think they can dictate to Canada regarding trade relationships?
I like Carney's comment that those who worship Trump are actually kneeling before him, not standing with him.

It's the US that is the danger to economic and sovereign stability. Classic narcissistic move that Trump loves to use.

Very elegant and clever move of Carney to use French in some of his comments. It's a good callout to Francois Canada and France.
It further makes Trump look like a childish uneducated bully.

Drug addiction and fentanyl are very low priority for the USA government. Zoos and museums matters!
Why doesn't anyone ask that government what they are doing to deal with fentanyl, or does everyone believe that Mexico and Canada will solve that problem?

I hope that doesn't mean Carney told Trump that he needs time to tell Canadians what they want to hear so he wins the election, and then he's ready to bargain away pieces of Canada.

Drug deaths declined before the USA government claimed in January/February 2025 that Canada presents a security threat due to a tiny amount of fentanyl crossing the border in 2024.

Reports are coming out that the mechanisms of the US tariffs are very unclear to representatives of industries affected by the proposed high tariffs and there have been no efforts to get information availble to these industries.
There are currently no contact points within the customary governmental structures for lobbyists or industry representatives to receive clarification of the specifics. Not even the big corporations such as Ford or GM have any contacts other than Trump, and he is not answering their questions.
There is anticipated to be a real mess at US ports, including seaports, airports, and land borders as the lack of specific procedures or policies, and the lack of governmental assistance is going to create a logjam of products whose status is unclear.
Expect a chaotic mess if you are relying on imported goods as a business. Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, Target, Amazon, and such may all be a mess for a while, possibly with unexplained delays and lack of attention to creating a smooth process for major industries and merchants.
