Cory Booker is still going strong on the Senate floor. At 7:00 pm EDT (2 hours from now) he will have spoken and answered questions for 24 hours. His purpose is to alert the country to what Trump/Musk are doing to the U.S.

What he's doing is important. I listened to the video that was posted here last night - constantly asking everyone in the room where they were when so many civil rights were deleted by Trump and Musk. At the very least, when the country goes down the tubes, he has a clear conscience. He has tried really hard to tell everyone to wake up and do something. If they still do nothing, it is because they want recession, higher cost of living, and war with allies.

The live stream of Cory's speech on Tik Tok has been liked over 175,000,000 times.

And there are thousands and thousands of others liking and making positive comments on live streams on other platforms.

I think he is voicing the concerns of many, many people.

The war is always a convenient way out. However, he used to be “a dove”, not “a hawk”. Something has changed.
Republicans used to be pro business and free trade.... : (

Here in Sydney, it's Liberation Day, apparently.. April 2nd... New Zealand is ahead of me, so they've been enduring Liberation Day for a few more hours.. . I checked with them ,they are still standing !

.. The sky has not fallen in, as yet.. but one can see, like the Bible says, a cloud no bigger than a fist on the horizon. Things are changing at warp speed, and I suspect that many countries are well and truly prepared for whatever fallout results from this insanity of Trumps.. everyone except the USA, particularly MAGA peeps... totally unprepared , I believe. I don't think they will even believe it when it happens, when that weekly trip to Costco or Walmart or even MacDonalds suddenly becomes the domain of a very few, and it ain't gonna be them. Nosiree Bob.

It's going to be the big , big game of musical chairs, and there are far fewer chairs, than folks..

His people will continue to blame everyone else but him for the situation.

What is important is to bring the Senate and Congress together no matter who “has the house”. They need to get together now, the two parties. They perfectly can. The problem is not bipartisan. They have been fighting for power for 25 years. They had shutdowns. They are so power-obsessed that they forgot about their electorate. Now our institutions of power are paralyzed. Not a peep is coming out.

If Booker manages to bring our split Senate together - good. But mostly, filibuster speeches are aimed to split and hence, IMHO, useless.

If Booker wants people to hear him, he has to start rallying. He is a great orator, no doubt. In 2017, he was my “hopeful”. (Cory Booker started his career by making movies showing how he was dealing with local corruption in NJ. He was appealing to people). However…When he got elected, he became “one of them”, and very soon. Certain voting pattern IMHO killed his own chance of presidency. But, he has talent. He has to make shorter, reasonable speeches aimed at country audience. Showing the amazing capacity of one’s vocal cords and urinary bladder is clownish rhetorics, sorry. Ted Cruz spoke for 21 hour. Do people even remember the essence?

In the meantime, Sanders/AOC rallies are gathering a lot of people.

"Speaker Mike Johnson says, ‘You have to trust the president’s instincts on the economy’ " (from your link)

Sure. Because his instincts have always been so good in the past, right?

34 felony counts of fraud.
Found guilty in a lawsuit re: the sexual assault of a woman.
Drink bleach, don't wear masks, don't socially distance, don't limit your travel ... and 1,000,000 US people died.
"The election was stolen" ... and then 5 Capitol Police died as a result, as well as one US woman.
Bankruptcy, after bankruptcy, after bankruptcy .... (6 times).

Technically not a filibuster speech though, because it is not concentrated on one issue. But is instead speaking of the many issues since Jan 20th 2025.

I think it is meant to be more of an enlightenment for the public. As in "look at ALL of the things that have been happening, please!"

Trump doesn't have instincts, he has greed and retaliation ... in my humble opinion.

Trump's instinct is "Get Money."

Trump's instinct means pharmaceuticals will cost more for the USA consumer, and the supply chain will be disrupted ... which could lead to shortages.

"Canada manufactures an estimated $3 billion US in pharmaceuticals for the American market each year, the authors say. A U.S.-imposed tariff of 25 per cent on Canadian-made prescription drugs would add $750 million US in costs for buyers – which could trickle down the supply chain to pharmacies and consumers."

Trump is acting as if he were promoting the final episode of The Apprentice.

This is all just power theater to him. He doesn't give a damm what gets passed, as long as a lot of people praise him and he gets to insult less powerful people.

Today in the WH, signing an EO about entertainment tickets and fees. Not a presidential activity at all. Just a favor to the big cheap theatrical people. Kid Rock all dolled up in red behind him, looking like a mix between Evil Knieval and Hulk Hogan.

He loves cheap and trashy people. He loves cheap and trashy scenes. Expect nothing more from him tomorrow.

Senator Cory Booker lasted a few minutes over 25 hours. He begged the Senate to come together because this isn’t a right or left issue. It’s about right or wrong…a moral isssue. He quoted the late civil rights veteran John Lewis, telling people to “make good trouble, necessary trouble.”

Booker was brilliant. If his persuasion doesn’t work, nothing will.
