Also from this link:
"He was generally conservative, but not obsessed with politics. He kept guns around the house for personal protection and hunting, and he taught their son to hunt doves, as many Southern fathers do. He believed that abortion was wrong, but it was not something that he spoke about much. 'It was never really a topic of discussion,' she said."

"'He complained about everything,' said another neighbor who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity, saying that he feared for his security. 'He said he worked with the government, and everybody was out to get him, and he knew the secrets of the U.S.A. He said, "Nobody touch me, because I've got enough information to put the whole U.S. of A in danger." It was very crazy.'"
I believe the officers he shot were responding to 911 calls of his shooting. They were not providing security for PP.
Why? Why does it matter?
That about all we have to know right there.
That about all we have to know right there.
oh but it does. Can any of us say our upbringing does not shape "entirly" for the rest of our lives ? It is the total "shaper" of any animals existance IMO
IAll I am thinking about are these families that have LOST their loved ones, and the victims that are hurt.
Certainly there can be debates about this person who did these horrible acts, but there are people that died.
As I posted this about the second KNOWN victim, hmmm....What about the victims, people????
This is upsetting to our community. ALL OF IT.
The Shooter and the victims he killed and hurt.
What about the victims??
These two known victims were FATHERS and HUSBANDS.
Children don't have their father anymore.
Wives are WIDOWS.
SAD!!! JUST SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMOO.
I'm trying to understand how Dear being the son of a WWII veteran is somehow tied to his actions. Being a vet doesn't make a person raise their children to be violent decades later.
JMO
I find it interesting that he raised his son on his own for so many years.
That article made it really easy to find his user name on that site. I was hoping it would make it easy to dig up more on him. No luck though.
I wondered what the percentages are of the U.S. Population that:
40 - 45% Own guns
50% Are pro-life, anti-abortion or think it should be legal only in some circumstances
40% give approval of Obama's job as president. (average for a US president is 53%)
17 - 21% of the U.S. Population listens to Conservative Talk Radio
So, I looked for the statistics, myself. I hope this data sheds some light on the speculations (by some) that there is some sort of correlation between these things and Dear's attack. I also hope that others will agree that Dear's actions puts him in the extreme minority of the percentage of the population that shares some of his beliefs.
It is illogical and unfair to demonize such large segments of the population, simply because they (we?) share some of the same concerns of one obviously unhinged individual.
I
think it is media deal. There is nothing different about how any victims survivors feel and think. I hate it when media asks how are you feeling ? It is a , IMO, a stupid question. We have all experinced loss, and it tends to have similiar characteristics.
How can the news midea tell , differntly, how people feel when experincing loss. It is a story that is pretty much the same for most , with nuance....
does that make sense?
My sense would be that
He was a jogger. He ate healthy. He lifted weights. And he was dedicated to his work. It involved striking deals with artists, mostly Southern ones, who painted Charleston street scenes, Old South plantation tableaus, magnolias, pictures of the Citadel campus. He tended to buy the rights to paintings, commission prints of 1,000 or so, and then market and sell the prints.
All of this was 30 some years ago! "Functioning declines with age !"
