I couldn't find much info at all about White Mountain SAR. The website doesn't mention much about the dogs or indicate that they search for HR.

http://whitemountainsar.org/

White Mountain Search & Rescue (WMSAR) is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of life by providing a search and rescue team capable of managing and effecting search and rescue operations. We respond to search and rescue of lost hunters, hikers, and persons who have wandered away from homes or rest homes.

They may be a small bunch of people, but they represent a high % of people who are actively discussing the case online. The official page might have 11k likes, but it's a very small number who are actually commenting/discussing everything. I don't see anything wrong people expressing their disapproval of the pages. Even friends of the family are posting on the non-official FB pages. With the social media, these things are a part of cases now. Some people here commented that they talked to people in the "real world" who are turned off by the drama...are they turned off because they feel there is a lynch mob mentality? If you are just an ordinary person, and you read an article about Dylan, and then the comments are all about how Dad is hiding him, and he better pay, etc etc, you might just think: "What a dysfunctional family..."

It would be really difficult to follow cases on here if one had the attitude of "If I don't like it, I won't watch it".

But it's not just facebook. If you read the comments on the websites of newspapers and tv stations, you'll see people attacking or defending both parents and each other, floating theories and spouting nonsense. People who are turned off by the drama and don't look any deeper are simply not interested in following the investigation the way most of us here are. I'm never followed a case that didn't develop "camps". That may be unfortunate, but I don't know what would prevent it. All MOO

Some people just get turned off by drama. And if they believe the carp that one of the parents hid the kid, who is going to bother looking for him??? They so needed not to do that.

And when the parents aren't a united front and can't work together to find their child, why should anyone else work for it??? If it appears the focus of the parents is not on their child but on making each other look bad in pubic, then why should anyone else care??

The bottom link is also a great resource for seeing who is recognized by NM.

Has anyone thought that ER might retract her statements about MR's involvement?
HYPOTHETICAL AHEAD
What if ER says something like "" I'm sorry I accused you earlier. I know you loved DR . I know you'd never hurt him. I know you and him bonded so tight when he was a little guy and that he's a real daddy's boy . I was just scared to death and should never have said that . "

Sorry I'm behind and catching up... but to be completely honest I personally have expected this above theory to play out for a long time now.. hell, several of us even talked about the whole, you can draw more flies with honey vs vinegar scenario and that many times its the route to take... so, for me I've been expecting this to occur to some degree, at some point..but jmo.

It is pretty strange to me that MR would know what was in Dylan's backpack. How would this come about in the few short hours they were together? Dylan had just come off of a plane, so clearly he did not have drugs or weapons.

As far as Colorado search groups seemingly not offering to help, I was just hoping it is not because it has become a kind of "rumor" that Dylan is simply caught up in a custody battle and that it would be a waste of time. But I guess it makes sense that local/state groups would not want to "cross" LE. Although I do not understand LE not reaching out for help.

I can't believe anyone would think that after a child has been missing for 3 months....

Thanks. I guess I was wondering if they have HR dogs or just SAR dogs. I was thinking that it was unlikely a scent would be picked up after this long. The website gives me the impression they search for a live scent.

Or, am I missing what your trying to point out to me Ransom?

BOTH SAR groups searching for DR NOW are on the NM list per the NM STATE POLICE guidelines. White Mountain and K-9 SAR. Both have HRD dogs.

I thought it was K9 Forensics that is there now?

And I am also trying to find info on White Mountain and what type of dogs they have?

I have never believed it. But the news has often slanted that way (child being hidden) and so has social media. So if a group or individual were to research the case, they might come away thinking that searching is pointless.

If Dylan was hitching to Bayfield, wonder why he didn't stop at the local Market and use the phone? Or is the belief that he got abducted on his dad's road?

I still am having problems with his scent not being picked up in the general area.

The more I think about this case, which is almost always, the more an abduction seems unlikely to me.

Maybe he stopped there to use a phone and ran into someone who offered him a ride before he got around to calling. MOO

scorekeeper, I missed some of the discussion in the beginning. Did LE ever make any kind of statement that they did or didn't pick up a live scent anywhere for Dylan?

I didn't say they were near solving it, but I don't think they're as clueless as a lot of people seem to think. One thing I have noticed (whether it's true or not, I have noticed it!) is that when the CBI allows any information to be released (like the renter), there usually seems to be a good reason for doing so. MOO
But IMO the problem is this "tipster info" was not brought up, introduced, and "released" by LE.. In fact this "tipster info" was brought up, introduced, and then flooded locally and via social media by this great "PI".. LE did not come to the public and share this secret, special info with the public and its my strong opinion that had this particular "PI" not flooded publically this "tipster info" LE wouldn't have ever even broached this "tip" to the media due to there being no indication of this "tip" having any weight or significance to Dylan's disappearance...jmo

IMO I absolutely believe that LE do come forward and release specific, unknown information to the public for extremely strategic purposes...but again in this case this was not secret, unknown to the public info that LE "released"..LE didn't "release" it as it was info that was being flooded by a certain "PI" .

I think it is admirable that you have been reading, taking notes, and are just now thoughtfully stating your theory of what happened to Dylan. I thoroughly agree with your account of what went down, if it was not pre meditated and he snapped. He had plenty of time to do whatever he had to do to get rid of ALL evidence.

However, even though I agree with Smooth and NC that statistics do not dictate what may have happened in any individual case, after reading the reasons why men kill their children, I can now see that this may have been premeditated for the following reasons:

MR Lost custody and child support of Dylan on 9/21/2012 - VERIFIED

MR only purchases enough groceries for a few days. VERIFIED

MR has no finalized plans for them on Thanksgiving. VERIFIED

MR had an appointment set up with his divorce attorney for the day after Dylan arrived. VERIFIED

JMO
IMO while specifics of this case aren't going to be changed by any stats being quoted or posted..ITA that a very plauisble, if not probable motive is absolutely one that sadly IMO appears to be more common than many realized...that motive being a hatred, vengeful need to use one's child to inflict the unspeakable, ultimate of all pain to the ex-spouse, mother of one's child in permanently "removing the child from the entire situation"..

which chillingly those exact, quoted words were spoken early on by Elaine.

all jmo.

You're entitled to your opinion, just like I am to mine. I still don't believe that LE is as clueless as many people seem to think. MOO

I figured it was very probable that Dr Phil would ask Mark to take a polygraph, and someone on the FMDR Facebook (initials MS) who was at the show taping posted that Phil met with Mark after the show and it sounds like a polygraph figured into that. Hopefully it will air early next week.

snipped.

Not true: from Pine River Times:

The following is from a press release from the sheriff:
Over this past weekend investigators interviewed someone who remembered seeing a man in the north end of Vallecito the day Dylan was reported missing. According to the person interviewed, they were contacted by a man who asked where he could find gasoline for his vehicle. The man was described as Hispanic, between 45 and 50 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, with dark hair. The man said he was looking at rental properties. The person interviewed did not have a description of the vehicle.
La Plata County Sheriff's Office is hoping the man might be a potential witness and not realize it. Anyone matching this description who was in the Vallecito area on Sunday or Monday, Nov. 18 or 19 is asked to contact La Plata Sheriff’s Office. Task Force Investigators will not identify the person they interviewed over the weekend and will not say where the interview took place.
They did say the interview was a direct result of information left on the tip line.

"If anyone feels they may have seen something unusual in Vallecito before or soon after Dylan was reported missing, we encourage them, including the man looking for rentals that day, to contact the Sheriff’s Office," said La Plata sheriff's spokesman Dan Bender. “They may not feel what they saw has any connection to Dylan's disappearance. But we would like to hear from them and let law enforcement decide if it might be important,” Bender said.

I don't recall that they ever said they found his scent. There were rumors on FB.

They had the HRD dogs at the lake.

I think they also had scent dogs at lake.

I believe they brought a bloodhound in before "the possible lost of scent" but I don't think they ever said anything about finding a scent then either.

It's been so confusing with the lack of information from LE but I would hope if they did "catch" his scent they would have mentioned it.

I don't even know if they ever used the belongings from his home that one of the famiy members went back and picked up.
