Most teens I know start to hyperventilate if their battery gets down to 1/4 power. LOL

Exactly-that is why I think it is more likely if they didn't have cell service they would walk a minute or two or ride to get cell service rather than give it up and try a landline. I guess it depends on Dylan, but that is what every teenager I know would do or does. I cannot fathom my nephew saying, hey let me use that landline instead of walking 30 seconds to get his texts LOL.

I would really like to know if fishing was part of the plan with Dylans friends.

I laid here last night with my phone, iPad and Kindle going through Toni Ingram's blog and making notes. I eventually had to set up my laptop because I drained all my batteries. It happens - not if you can find chargers but what can I say?

Well, my MacBook stays plugged up continuously. I have it set up so I can use it 24/7!
Dylan's phone was off after 8 Sunday night....no way he would go around for 12-16 hours and not charge it.

Many times when I've been traveling all day (via plane), my phone dies by about 7:00pm because its been turned off and on all day when I'm on flights and in airports. In addition, my phone uses up more battery life because its working harder to get wifi and service in airports. That being said, his phone may have been on its last leg of battery by the time he got back to his dad's house. At that point, I'd think he'd plug the phone to charge as soon as he got in the door. May have left it off while charging since that helps it charge faster. He probably hung out and chatted with his dad, maybe watched tv, and crashed on the couch, with his phone probably still charging and turned off.
Assuming MR has nothing to do with this ********* -
Next morning, dad leaves for errands and Dylan sleeps. Perhaps he woke up, watched tv, had some cereal- and forgot that he'd turned his phone off to charge (I've done that before!!). So he's waiting for his friends to text him, but never sees the texts because the phone is off. Eventually he realizes the phone was off, so he goes to turn it on but OOPS, the charger wasn't attached to the phone all the way so it never charged and its still dead. I HATE when that happens!!!
Instead of waiting around to charge it, he heads out to see his friends via hitchhiking. What happens from there is a mystery......but it is possible that he was picked up by the wrong kind of person I guess.....

Even if the cell phone was dead there was a landline. I sure would like to know if there is internet service there. What about the ipad or ipod LE took from the home? Surely that wasn't dead also. We have so many communication devices these days. I believe Dylan would have contacted his friends some how that morning before leaving.

The fishing pole being missing is odd to me. Would he really go fishing by himself?

But would they take their backpack and fishing pole?

Sometimes people talk more when they are nervous. Dylan's dad has talked more since his house was thoroughly searched and he had his "official interview" with LE. Is he trying to justify to everyone outside of LE what he tried to tell them. He keeps adding little things to his story - blanket still on couch, tv on, cereal bowl - why didn't he mention this at first instead of the fishing pole/lake story?

I hope LE releases their findings from the video tapes - we need verification from Walmart and McD.

I sit here and ponder up an old crime scene show....at end of interview - the sheriff is asked by the person being interview, 'do you think I need an attorney?" and the sheriff, puffing on his cigar and leaning back in his chair, replies, 'that might not be a bad idea cause things aren't lookin good for you' hmmmmm

I really want Dylan to be somewhere safe and this to be a crazy divorce thingy but I'm not feeling it...

The fact that all these details are coming out now doesn't look suspicious to me. When looking at this from the perspective of MR's initial story, that he thought Dylan was at the lake, all of those little details didn't really matter. These details only came to light(as far as we know) when there were questions about where Dylan was Sunday night and whether or not he actually made it to MR's house.

It would have seemed more suspicious if MR had included all this info when he thought that Dylan was at the lake. The longer Dylan is missing, the more important these details become.

Me too! That missing fishing pole is such an odd detail. Did it ever exist? Is it really missing? What type of pole was it? I lean towards it being a made up detail to steer the search in the direction the perp wanted but if that isn't the case it could be important info.

You have to cut off your phone to charge it? Never heard of that....

I'm behind again, but after reading the article from Seek&Find (thank you!) linked on page 1 of this thread - I really think that someone Dylan knew came and picked him up.

I'm hoping they have checked the phone records for the land line at Dad's house. Dylan either made prior arrangements for someone to come and get him or someone showed up and told him to grab his things and let's go. OR Dylan called someone from Dad's landline and they came and got him. I don't think Dylan left by himself - someone came and got him. Someone Dylan trusted and was willing to go with.

That's what I think :)

Maybe this has already been addressed, but do we know for a fCt that Dylan was gone when his dad got home?

According to his mom, Dylan was a tech-saavy kid. I bet he couldn't imagine letting it run out of power.

My kid is tech savvy too. Huge into video editing especially. It's just not their only tech device and child is a little absent minded/distracted about logistics. Also, only texts as a means of passing information. Not to pass time like oldest.

I understand that you can't see it. I'm just saying that our scope of comprehension is pretty much moot because we don't know HIS norms.

I said in that post that I agree that MOST kids with technology like to keep is charged.

OK...you've read a link that I've missed! Better go back and check it out....

The only fact I think we know is that Dylan did indeed land at the airport.

The lack of phone activity is the big problem for me. Everything else I can make sense of one way or another, but him not turning on the phone and at least trying to text/call his friends Monday morning... that doesn't make sense.

Unless he somehow dropped or damaged the phone when he woke up Monday morning. That is the only possibility I can come up with for why he didn't use the phone Monday.

Not saying that was what happened, but it is a possibility (says the mom who has a son who not once, but twice, dropped his cell phone in the toilet.) That's the only scenario that I can think of that would fit the story as we have been given it.

Otherwise I have to agree that the phone not being turned back on Monday makes no sense for a 13 year old boy.

When did MR said he thought Dylan was at the lake? I am pretty sure he says he believed him to be with friends until he checked and he was not there.

Went back and read it but don't really see that myself. But that would be great, if so.

But if he damaged it Monday am, then left the house willingly, I'd think he'd have tossed it/set it on a counter, couch, or something and left it and the charger behind, since it wasn't working anyway.

I think someone harmed Dylan and didn't think through all the logistics and questions there'd be while trying to cover it up.

Wish that wasn't the case. Love his little crooked smile!

It was said prev that the RSO's had been checked; they must be going back through that info, just as they've interviewed dad multiple times, and searched the home multiple times.

Moo

I wouldn't put too much into the fact that LE is looking at RSO's. If they are thorough (as they should be) they will be looking into ALL possibilities at this point. And they could be onto something and not want to let that be known at this point.

Thanks.

I hope LE is "all over the place" for a specific reason, because my head is spinning. Give 'em enough rope and they will hang themselves....

First, we get they know he made it to the county. Then we try to piece together why no one has seen/heard from him besides dad since he arrived.

Now, we have them re-looking at RSOs; possibly hitching/abducted.

Then we have dad expanding his story - he reported him missing - why didn't he say all this the first day (maybe he did and no one felt it important to report) - or is he now building his case for 'I saw Dylan Monday at 7:30 and when I got back at 11:30, he was gone so somebody else has him' That's his story and he's sticking with it....

Well, I think I'm sticking with my first story also....I got nothing to prove to me that he made it to dad's house and this is JMO/MOO
