The Xinjia hotel in the Chinese city of Quanzhou has been reduced to rubble.

The five-storey, 80-room hotel, which was being used as a quarantine facility monitoring people who had had close contact with coronavirus patients, collapsed on Saturday night, trapping at least 70 people.

Combing through the debris, rescuers are still trying to recover people who were in the building when it fell.

Dramatic pictures show rescuers pulling people from the remains of the hotel, carrying some on stretchers and helping others down ladders. At least 32 people have been pulled out so far, authorities say.

I think it's a different ship, not the Diamond Princess. There is another Princess stuck somewhere near California with positive patients on board.

Thank you so very much for your correction/observation. I was merely thinking how did a person get off when quarantined, but this must have been ANOTHER case from the Grand Princess that was on the first leg, and got off before the second leg that got quarantined. (Same leg as the other person that got off that was THE person that waved the flag for this quarantine/testing).

Appreciate you taking the time to keep facts in line! It takes a WS team to do such for sure!

Officials announce first confirmed case of coronavirus in Utah

The Utah Department of Health announced on Friday night that they have confirmed the first case of the novel coronavirus in the state.

Officials said the patient is believed to have been exposed to the virus when they were aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship. They emphasized that this case is not from a community spread of the infection in the state of Utah.

The patient returned to Utah after leaving the cruise ship and began experiencing symptoms that are consistent with the COVID-19 virus, according to UDOH. The patient then went to their health care provider, who collected samples from them for testing.

The samples were sent to the Utah Public Health Laboratory for testing, where they were found to be a"presumptive positive," officials said. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevent will now test the samples to confirm the results.

Organic milk and UHT treated milk have very long outdates, too.

I just bought a 24-pack carton on Horizon organic milk in 8 oz size that outdates July 21 2020 and DOES NOT HAVE TO BE REFRIGERATED !!!!!
Costco has it on a pallet along the wall near where all the bottled drinks are. Also bought a flat of evaporated milk. One must have milk for the morning coffe, quarantine or no quarantine!

The oat milk I bought outdates April 28 and has to be refrigerated. Refrigerator and freezer space is at a premium in this quarantine prep stuff and I have to be selective about how much "milk" is in there.

So it all depends on how the milk is treated after collection. UHT milk is very common in the South Pacific where refrigeration is not always available or in little stores in places where milk drinking is not that common

5 or 6 threads ago there was much discussion about milks. I learned so much about differences of evaporated, condensed... and then we discussed UHT (ultra high temperature pasteurized "normal 2%" shelf stable. Let's just say I like my whole milk, and shelf stable whole milk was the way to go. Annnnd, the poster said it was at Dollar Tree also. FYI in case others that don't like the other kinds. Myself, I like the vanilla flavored creamers, and they have a long life in the fridge for coffee.

AMEN....

⚠️"When the story is written about U.S. preparedness for this, will be called ‘Squandered Time.’ Not just on the medical side, but on the preparedness side. It’s not just the kits. School closings were inevitable the second we had the first patients." -@juliettekayyem

A US Navy sailor stationed in Italy has contacted the novel coronavirus, marking the first positive case for a US service member in Europe, the US military command said Saturday.

The US European Command said in a statement:

"Military health professionals are conducting a thorough contact investigation to determine whether any other personnel may have been exposed.

"Depending on the results of that investigation, additional precautionary measures may be taken."

The service member was stationed in Naples, Italy, and is currently "restricted to their residence", the statement said.

Coronavirus News: 76 confirmed COVID-19 cases in New York, officials say | LIVE

NEW YORK (WABC) -- There are now 44 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus reported in New York state, officials said.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced additional cases on Friday and said they all likely have a connection to a 50-year-old lawyer hospitalized with the disease in Westchester County.

Of the 44 people with positive results, five of them have been hospitalized. The governor said their conditions continue to improve.

The breakdown of the 44 cases is: 34 in Westchester County, 4 in NYC, 4 on Long Island and 2 in Rockland County.

Interesting detail to confirm the NYS Quarantine Order Requirements:

Also Friday, Cuomo delved a bit more into the state's mandatory and precautionary quarantine measures. To date, 44 people statewide, including nine in New York City, are under mandatory quarantine order.

Those people have either A) Tested positive; B) Had direct contact (within 6 feet) with a person who has tested positive; C) Returned from a country with CDC travel health levels 2 or 3, the countries in the hotbed of the outbreak; or D) Is deemed in need of quarantine by a local health provider and local health department. Officials will coordinate with the state Department of Health to make that determination, the governor said.

O/T Eeeek. My sister has many hives. She and my BIL have an organic farm that wholesales to Whole Foods, etc. I'll have to ask them about this. I've never agreed with pesticides and we are vegan. So this is sad and shocking. I do have a vitamix attachment that allows me to make my own almond milk but in this case it won't help the bees. There needs to be pressure on the industry to stop some practices in the name of greed.
Hard for me because I can't have too many carbs, so things need to be below 5g.

Police have been deployed to lock down entire blocks of a neighbourhood in Haro, a small town in northern Spain, after dozens of cases of coronavirus were traced back to a funeral held in the nearby Basque country two weeks ago.

Spain has so far confirmed 430 cases of the virus – 60 of which originated among people who attended a funeral service in the Basque city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, according to Spain’s National Microbiology Centre.

Thirty-nine of those 60 cases are in the neighbouring La Rioja region, according the local government, with most of them concentrated in the towns of Haro and Casalarreina. About another 25 cases are reported to have been confirmed in the Basque country.
