So she might have vanished with a drug dealer and the girlfriend.

This somehow reminds me of the case of dutch model Ivana Smit who ended up dead in Indonesia.

So sad 😔
Well this gives us hope..is a PI actively looking for her?

I personally never have believed she drowned

Just as a reminder on this case, two Venmo payments were made by Konanki on the afternoon before she went missing. The first transaction was made at 2:54 pm with the emoji of a sailboat in the description, while the second payment towards "Coco Bongo" - a renowned nightclub was initiated at 3:38 pm
Both the payment were sent to different users and the amount remains unknown.

Dominican Republic disappearance: Indian student missing in Dominican Republic, Sudiksha Konanki made strange payments before vanishing
How is that strange?

The body never surfaced. The Dominican Republic, a popular destination spot, is interested in money and reputation only, as it seems. Very sorry for Sudiksha, it is so easy to make a reckless decision and trust the wrong people at her age.

"A known drug dealer" should have been seriously interrogated, but everyone knows the "spiel", they pay off to the police.

I think that Ginette Bournigal, a Dominican senator responsible for tourism, who was so critical of Sudiksha should be thrown her words back into her face. Punta Cana didn't have electricity that day, the beach security did nothing, and they allow known drug dealers to openly walk on hotel beaches. Ms. Bournigal, as you are the president of Dominican Senate tourism commission: until you retrace what happened to Sudiksha, your island is not a safe place.

It apparently was never investigated. She was in a resort, why would she have sent money to two individuals there ?

Here is another article on the transactions. Are these your expected travel expenses? One cannot assume "all inclusive" at a resort always means that. Maybe she bought a souvenir or paid for food outside of a set mealtime? Anyone here have any experience with these resorts?

Here is the website for Coco Bongo in Punta Cana, DR. It sells tickets to its events. Presumably SK bought tickets to a show.

I'm assuming they went out and did something that cost money, like boats, jet ski etc? Probably went to bars. It's pretty common for a friend to just pay the total ammount and everyone just transfers their part of the money, makes it easier for everyone.

Interesting, they can't tell the amounts sent? Is that just the way the app works or they won't 'disclose' the amounts sent?

Was she to take a tourist boat ride at some point? They have those in many tourist areas by water (we have that where I live on the ocean, tourists pay $75 for an hour trip or something). I guess they would disclose this as well. LE must know who the users were?

I am suspicious of the drowning too.

ETA: I posted this before seeing/reading the other posts before mine upthread..

Venmo payments would show the amount, at least somewhere. In the app, in an e-mail even. You can have private transactions on Venmo, meaning only you and the person you send the money to would see the amount, etc. but there would still be a record of it somewhere. Investigators could certainly find it, if they wanted to do so.

It sounds like she left the notes public, which is why people can see the sailboat emoji, etc. but had her transactions set as private. I agree her case is strange, but this particular piece might not indicate anything suspicious.

I think regarding the payments, that there were probably several services offered that were not included in the resort package.

My feeling is that there was no third party involved. They were so drunk that they could not even make their way to toilets to throw up and even went back to drink more.

Once in the sea and making out, the boyfriend, much heavier and losing his balance, crushed her to sea floor, from where she was unable to rise, balance herself.

He didnt even realise, was not thinking and stumbled out

All-inclusive resorts, just like cruise ships, include things like all meals at specific restaurants, entertainment at the resort or on the ship, use of any and all pools on the property, certain things like loungers, pool noodles, balls, etc. But there are lots of extra things you do pay for like excursions, high end restaurants, scuba diving, water skiing, cave explorations, etc. So to me it's not unusual that SK shelled out money while she was at the resort. Like many people, even though everything you need is at the resort, many people travel to bars and shopping areas outside the resort.

Yes the video of them vomiting outside the bar was quite shocking to me that anyone could get into such a state. Must have been very unpleasant for others.
Plus it wasn’t her boyfriend they had literally met that night and hooked up.
IMO

@Seni

Wikipedia has the case, "Murder of Mike Williams". This husband and father disappeared in December of 2000 while duck-hunting on Lake Seminole. The case was solved in 2017. The reasons it was never closed were: 1) bodies eventually resurface and 2) the typical reason when they do not (eaten by alligators) did not apply here as alligators do not feed in winter. Absence of the body was enough to keep the case open.

Mike Williams had the mother and the brother who relentlessly pushed to solve the case. I wish that Sudiksha's parents get the strength. For their daughter and other young women who may also be at risk.

I think they had just met that evening.

The electricity was off at the resort, it was dirty, there was no heat to prepare food so people clustered in the bar and were drinking. Physiologically, lack of food would make people more drunk. Plus, Sudiksha was 20 and likely, not “trained” in drinking. Some people don’t metabolize alcohol well, either.

And some people just get sh— faced cause that’s the phase of life we were in. Especially out with friends and even meeting cute guys.

I just believe that it is highly unlikely her body would not have washed on shore somewhere had she drowned. A local fisher gave an interview and explained how tides and waves worked in that part of the shore. His arguments made so much sense. He was adamant that the body should have been found. They closed the case far too soon imo and the line and info changed abruptly. Then all « publicity » around the case ( was this an issue?) stopped and life goes on. This is my opinion based on exposed facts, plus new ones.

The locals were no doubt worried about the bad effect on tourism a murder would bring so wanted it swept under the carpet quickly. This was my thought at the time
