I think it was earlier reported that way because they didn’t want to release the information yet. I think what happened is the landlady was notified a few days prior whatever a few days means that they were likely moving out and then received that message that night.

I believe it was them that sent the message because nothing else about that scenario would make sense.

I don’t know why or intention or if it was just wrapping stuff up. Likely whatever they found in their apartment or house or whatever will confirm either way was expected or the landlady just got nervous because she found all of their stuff there still.

It sounds to me like if she received a message that said we’re no longer coming back, but then all of their stuff was there and this is very out of character for them that the police would’ve likely investigated on some level because it just sounds like they’re quicker to jump, then they would be in the US person

But also, the message could’ve been more than just a we’re not returning. It could’ve contained a little bit more information to explain which would have caused more concern.

Search continues in Aberdeen Harbour

Teams are continuing to search Aberdeen Harbour as they look for Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, nearly two weeks after the sisters went missing.
Searches were continuing in the harbour area on Monday, Sky News reported, after Police Scotland said on Friday that there was nothing to suggest that Eliza or Henrietta had left the immediate area after they were last seen crossing the River Dee at 2.12am on 7 January.
Further searches involving specialist resources would continue in the coming days, including into the harbour area, the force had said in a statement.

Tried to catch up but it's going so fast! Unsure if it's been posted about tides and couldn't refind the post referencing it on the last thread.

The tides change four times in 24 hours and 50 minutes, or two changes every 12 hours and 25 minutes to a high tide and low tide. In 6 hours and about 12.5 minutes it will change from high to low or low to high. They are also called max flood, slack tide (calm), max ebb. They can affect quite a distance up rivers. I have seen seals up river in one area over 2 kms from the ocean (in Sooke, BC). When tide is out the river is shallow and low, sandy and can walk quite far out but high tide can be 15 meters across and 2-3 meters deep) which can also depend where the moon is at, full or less, where the sun is etc. One high tide will be higher than the other as well as one low tide will be much lower than the other (some areas up to 30 feet (9+ meters). I am in North America though so they could range quite differently in other areas. I live on the coast, on Vancouver Island. My partner swims all year and says the water temp in the ocean doesn't change too much, but if you're not acclimated to the cold water it is cooold and can cause your body to freeze in seconds.

If one were wanting to disappear in the water easily, wearing heavy clothing will aide with weight as it can get very heavy very fast, and with the cold it can be paralyzing. So wearing something like a wool coat (looks as though that's what they may have been wearing?) would help in that case.

Due to the tides moving so quickly when they do change, I wonder if anyone has tracked the tides in the area. When the tides come in or out the force can be very strong, then it settles and everything is still (slack tide) for close to an hour, although it is still always moving a little, gentle waves but calm (unless it's stormy). Once it starts changing again it can take you right out to sea within minutes.

Anyway, I hope they are found safe.
Jmo.

I dropped out of this thread quite early on because I live about a mile and a half away from Charlotte Street and have to drive past Victoria Bridge a couple of times a week so I've found it all too close to home and too upsetting. I've had very tough times in my life, starting with a difficult childhood but I've never felt the extreme despair that these girls must have experienced. The LE were on the cliffs at Collieston this week looking out for bodies. Apparently, bodies are carried north and tend to be washed up on one of the beaches further up the coast. That, sadly, happened to a young colleague of mine who fell into the Dee after a night of celebration following a football match. His body was found on Newburgh beach a couple of weeks later. His fiancee at the time eventually married and seems to have built a life for herself. His parents were heartbroken.

where did he fall in? just wondering because someone here said that the river is shallow at first and the banks are not steep

Eliza and Henrietta are from a set of mixed triplets, meaning they are identical while the third triplet Edit is fraternal. Blikk has also reported that Edit had a 'premonition' that something terrible had happened to her sisters.

Hungarian twin researcher Dr Júlia Métneki told the newspaper: "There's still no scientific explanation for it, but the fact that they develop together in the womb, that they feel each other's heartbeats and vibrations, brings them very close to each other."

I can't access that. What does she say about the premonition?

According to media reports back in their homeland, Eliza and Henrietta Huszti had been partying with a “group of males” before they vanished in Aberdeen.

However, that was completely ruled out by investigators who said they had accurately and conclusively traced the pair - two of triplets - from their home to the place where they were last seen.

Their rebuttal came after Hungarian news outlet, Blikk, quoted one woman in Aberdeen who said she knew the 32-year-olds. Giving her name only as Ana, she stated: “We know that the two girls were having fun with a friend of theirs, and a group of men (sic) and then when they were heading home....”
-.-.-.-
The news comes as the third triplet revealed she had a premonition of “something bad” happening to her siblings. According to a family friend, Edit Huszti spoke to Eliza and Henrietta on New Year’s Eve in a video call but afterwards “had some kind of bad feeling even then but couldn’t explain what it was.”

And they certainly couldn't have sent it any later than they did for obvious reasons.
Well, actually, they very easily could. Delay send - you have it on gmail, outlook, etc. Commonly used for suicides and you can just cancel the sending if you fail at your attempt. I think it is unlikely they did not have the e-mail for their landlord. However, I don't think this really makes any difference. This option either did not cross their mind (neither of them worked an office job, so it's not like they use the function regularly for that purpose) or some part of them still wanted to be helped and left that breadcrumb. In any case, it does not change the most probable event here.

I am still a bit surprised that they left nothing at all on the shore and that no personal items have been found either. I guess they just got lucky in that regard - if you can call anything lucky in such a case... Them not wearing hats might hint at minimizing the risk of items found. But it also might be random.

(SBM) I posted them in thread one, but here it is again Aberdeen Tide Times for 6th January 2025 | Tide Times

It's very useful. From that if they got off the path unnoticed and got in to a vehicle it looks like they may have been able to leave the general area. I wonder if something had been prearranged and perhaps they had been waiting for a call to say things were ready. Might explain why they went out at 2.30am and why personal items were left behind. They had to go immediately when called?
That might explain the 2.30am

Another young woman disappeared, and it made me thinking ....

Claire Halliday, 35, was last seen in the Fionnphort area in the southwest of the island on Tuesday 7 January.
In a statement released through the force, her family said: "We're really worried and concerned for Claire. We just want to know that she is safe.

There is a thread about Claire here. I don't think there is any connection between this and the disappearance of Eliza and Henrietta.

Having had another look down the area today, there is little chance they could get off the path or street behind the path without being noticed. The only conceivable way would be to go in the water.
It does look like that. If that is the case I hope they are found and recovered. As of yet I don't think they have found a single thing. It would be heart-breaking for the family if nothing was found as it would never give full closure and they'd always be left not knowing for sure.

I can’t stop pondering on the circumstances that led them to do that. If that is the outcome, truly heartbreaking . Having been through some terrible lows in life, as we all have I am sure, there is always so much to keep me wanting to live. Some of them very simple things like nature and my pets and family. To not have that must be just unthinkable. Prayers for them and their family.
