Your comment is very relevant. When I first saw the CCTV image my gut instinct was that they were walking to meet someone for a bit of 'business'. I feel they have that air about them, but it's just a hunch. I also thought they wouldn't look out of place travelling by boat or air with the businessman-type. Those were my first impressions of the CCTV image.

Perhaps they were tired of all the working, scrimping & saving, and someone "made them an offer they couldn't refuse". I dunno.

Replying to myself: perhaps they had always imagined that by 32 they would each have a husband and a couple of children, and would only be working part-time. But it hadn't happened.

Surely if they wanted to sneak off in the night quietly, by a pre-arranged car meet, they could have found somewhere closer by their property that was out of CCTV range.

Why walk for a mile right through the town centre where they were guaranteed to be traced by CCTV to that spot?

I wonder if they'd planned some sort of get-rich-quick scheme or activity? One that would get them enough money to buy that home they apparently wanted, and take them away for a week or so? That would explain why they no longer needed their flat. Enough money to do that, but not set them up enough to give up their jobs. Maybe something went awry with the plan, or maybe not. Maybe they're somewhere, doing something, totally unaware of the storm back home. I can't explain the part about immediate end of the tenancy, with all their belongs still there. That part doesn't make sense in my scenario.

I suppose that would depend on whether they were in control of everything. If someone else was organising something perhaps they had no say in the "where and when?"

To be honest, do people even care about whether they are spotted on CCTV or not? I don't reckon many people even think about it anymore, its almost become incidental these days.

I suppose that would depend on whether they were in control of everything. If someone else was organising something perhaps they had no say in the "where and when?"

My very first thought when I heard of their disappearance was they had gone to meet someone, given the area is known for ‘dodgy dealings’. Their clothing and the way they are walking (appreciate it is so hard to tell from one still picture) is in line with that. They are relatively ‘well dressed’, striding fast, confidently with purpose directly to the location. I know it was very cold, but as stated earlier I think they would have worn puffa jackets and hats otherwise.

But the theory is they want to "disappear".

DoodleNak above is pointing to an elaborate plot. Lets be seen heading along the path, sneak into the industrial area and head off by some means of transport unseen on CCTV, and everyone will assume they entered the river, job done.

I just think disappearing completely without that ploy is equally an acceptable thing to do if they so desired. If they are being coerced to do it, again wouldn't it be "safer" for those guding them to not have them traceable to a very specific area where all the surrounding roads/streets will also come under heavy cctv scrutiny.

They would have equally more success of picking them up around the corner from their home (CCTV in residential areas has much less coverage) and driving off in any direction and be off the grid to anywhere. Surely police would have a more difficult time tracking that method?

It's all just too far fetched imo.

Okay.....this has now answered many questions.....
The fact they message the landlady at the time they were last seen on the bridge make sense why she would be worried.
Evidently, they have scoped it out and made their plans, it would seem :-\
