I also wonder what state the apartment was in. We know they left most of their possessions behind. Was everything just sort of as normal or was it a mess or even possibly stuff boxed up as if ready for a move? Any signs they left in a hurry? Also we don't know how much contact there was between the landlady and the sisters generally or specifically over the termination of the lease. Nor do we know if there were any ongoing issues in respect of the apartment.

TIMELINE

December 31

Edit Huszti - the other triplet - speaks to Eliza and Henrietta on New Year's Eve. She later told reporters they appeared happy and cheerful after their conversation.

January 4

Jozsef Huszti - the brother of the missing sisters - speaks to the pair over the phone. He later spoke to the BBC in the days after their disappearance and said he also feels there was nothing out of the ordinary after a 40-minute conversation.
------- thought they spoke to their mother ?

January 6

Eliza and Henrietta walk around the Victoria Bridge area and are spotted on CCTV both wearing rucksacks as they cross the road near the River Dee at around 2.50pm.
They then walk back towards their flat on Charlotte Street through the Union Square shopping centre.

January 7

The sisters are seen on CCTV at 2.12am on Market Street heading towards Victoria Bridge and the River Dee footpath.

They also send a text to their landlady at the same time informing her they will not be returning to their flat and their phone was disconnected.

It is the last known sighting of the pair, who then turned right onto the footpath at the Torry end of Victoria Bridge before vanishing.

January 8

The sisters' belongings are discovered in their flat and the landlady reports her concerns to the police, with a major search operation launched to locate the pair.

Divers are called in to search the waters of the River Dee, which had been partly frozen amid the freezing conditions following heavy snowfall in Aberdeen.

Yes, the mother was also said to have spoken to them. No idea if the brother lives at home and was part of the same conversation or whether he lives somewhere else?

Hopefully they find the other body so they can be laid to rest together.

Whilst it’s sad to find a body it brings some clarity and certainty to what happened that night - living with the unknown in these situations for years&years can be even worse imo as it doesn’t allow you to grieve properly or try and rebuild your life.

Ladies I’m sorry you thought this was your only way - I hope you’re at peace now.

Yes there would be something very sad about them not being buried together seeing as in life they were obviously inseparable and couldn't live without each other.

So the body was found by the Queen Elizabeth bridge, seen by a member of the public. According to google maps that’s only a couple of miles down the river from where they went in.
It's really very close. The BBC article shows a photo of the boathouse that the sisters didn't walk beyond and the Queen Elizabeth Bridge is just slightly beyond that.
