So - if they had, as now seems likely to me, planned their disappearance via the waste ground, wouldn't they have checked out everything first? Gone there, taken note of the cameras, holes in the fencing, etc? How far back have LE looked through all the CCTV footage? Days? Weeks? Months even?
Thought they went to the river on Monday afternoon. Maybe this was the reason for the visit

I cannot understand why, if suicide, their final act on this earth was to send a text message to their landlady, and it was so important that they took one phone with them to do so. Neither of them told work they were leaving (annual leave is only temporary), so it’s not that they were fully preparing for their departure.
Did we get the exact phrase or just that they messaged?

However, even though they were/are very considerate young women, I just do not understand why they would text the landlady at that hour. That is seriously considerate.
as someone their age i always assume people will have their phone on silent while they’re sleeping, so i wouldn’t consider it inconsiderate to text someone after a certain hour. not sure it it’s a generational thing or if i’m a rude person haha

All I've seen is that they texted to say they would no longer require the flat, not the exact wording though.

Strange they are both wearing woolly hats here but not later on .Wonder what was in the rucksacks and if they left them there to be retrieved later
Wouldn't there be Cctv footage of them returning to their flat to see if they still had their ruck sacks?

No I don’t think so.

“It emerged that a text message was sent from Henrietta’s mobile phone to the sisters’ landlady at 2.12am on 7 January, from the area of Victoria Bridge, indicating they would not be returning to the flat.”

Police reveal final eerie text sent from missing sister’s phone at same time as last sighting
Police have revealed the final eerie text that was sent from one of the missing sisters’ phones at the same time as the last sighting of the pair.

A message was sent from Henrietta Huszti's mobile phone to their landlady at 2.12am on 7 January, indicating she and her sister Eliza would not be returning to their flat.

The text was sent from the area of Victoria Bridge, which was the place where the pair were last seen, with CCTV footage showing them there at the same time as the message was sent.

The phone was then disconnected from the network and has not been active since, said Police Scotland

So this explains how police knew where to search for CCTV?

The next day, the sisters' personal items were found in the flat, prompting the landlady to alert the police. Eliza and Henrietta are both described as white, slim, with long brown hair, and were each carrying a rucksack.

They were last seen on CCTV at 2.50pm on Monday, January 6, each carrying a rucksack.

It does seem strange that they sent the text the minute before they presumably entered the water- why did they not text before they left flat and leave the phone there.
Also, there must have been something of note in the bag else why take it along

Not sure I would read too much into the rucksacks. It looks like they regularly wore them given the few pictures that have been released. Some people just prefer to be hands free? It is not mentioned anywhere they left the rucksacks and I am sure the police would have stated if they did.

It unfortunately seems highly likely now, given today’s updates, that the sisters have ended their lives by entering the water. I wonder whether the backpacks they wore during the previous visit earlier in the day may have been significant - weights for pockets, pills/alcohol to incapacitate themselves which they could have left there for use on their return in the early hours?
Yes this is what I think too.

Perhaps the text was just a point of finalisation for them and also a way letting others know where to find them? A final act of closure before they went in to the water.

Doing it last minute means nobody can come and find them in time (if the message was one that would cause concern) Also maybe they weren't certain they could actually go through with it until the last minute.

IMO it’s either because they didn’t want stopped or they didn’t want anyone alerted.

The timing of the text coincides with the CCTV capture of them crossing the bridge and turning onto the path.

I'd summise, in the bag they had alcohol/pills/substances/all of them, which they may have consumed while hidden away out of sight on that banking, and as they started to get drowsy entered the water. They may have been loitering there for a while. But it seems they switched the phone off after the message was sent.

Interesting that the 3rd triplet looks quite a bit different to her 2 sisters.

So that is why they only took one phone. They only needed it to send that final message. :(
Do we think that they texted from that spot on purpose so police would know where to search . Had the text been sent from home before leaving it would have been much harder to track where they went

I hope this is a reminder not to jump to conclusions. A lot of people were criticizing the landlord without knowing the full story.

Probably more of a finalisation. Maybe they didn't know if they were truly going to go ahead with it until they go there.
If they wanted to be tracked or provide answers for people surely they would have left a note at their home.
