'The siblings appeared to be heading in the direction of the Aberdeen Boat Club, before they were reported missing. '
'Anyone with information has been advised to call 101 quoting incident number 0735 of Tuesday, 7 January, 2025.'

I doubt whether this is significant, but the CCTV image shown in the appeal appears to have been taken some 600 metres away from Market Street. The juxtaposition of the image and the text may lead you believe that this is the last image taken of Eliza and Henrietta, but clearly it isn't.

Location of CCTV image (link points to Google Maps). The stitching together of Google's images makes the right hand side of the entrance look slightly different to what you see in the CCTV image, but that anomaly disappears when you move around slightly on Google Maps.

The police haven't said what time the CCTV image was captured. Was it earlier in the evening, and have the sisters spent time in town before heading towards the river, or was it taken in the early hours of the morning capturing them directly en route?

Everything about this disappearance is very worrying.

“The Torry side of Victoria Bridge where they were last seen has many commercial and industrial units.

Huszti family Two twin sisters wearing pink tops, either side of a man in a white top.
Their brother, Jozsef, told BBC News their mother spoke to the girls on Saturday. They had a 40-minute conversation and nothing appeared out of the ordinary.

They were described as sociable but as far as the family knows they were not very much into going out - preferring to stay at home, watching movies, with Eliza especially enjoying cooking.

She added that she believed it was quite out of character for them to be out on the streets in the early hours of the morning.

Not too much information to go on really at the moment. I wonder how they managed to locate them on cctv. Perhaps they knew that they were out for the evening and caught them heading home? Although seems very late (or early) for a weekday night out.

Looking on Google maps, that path has very easy access to the water, unfortunately. Easy access as in where you could walk directly into the river. It's not a steep bank or anything where an accident (fall) could happen.

From the articles it states they were mostly homebodies who don't drink and keep themselves to themselves. To venture down that particular gravel/dirt path that has open/clear access to a river in the middle of the night seems extremely out of sorts. It's also heading away from the city center which is where the BBC article states that they live.

If say they were on their way to somewhere/to meet with someone their direction from the bridge is leading towards the A596. Which, logically on the map would have been quicker/easier to get to from the West side of the train station from the city center than east Side and across the bridge they were last seen on.

Their poor family.
I hope LE are busy with the phone-pings/tracking technical stuff.

In my opinion they didn't make a decision to purposely harm themselves or disappear on a cold night in a river. I just don't see that being the plan of two adult women.

I worry about an accident (misadventure) or meeting up with a bad person or persons, though.

They live together, are very close. Maybe one of them had bad health news or something and they decided they couldn't live without each other.
Seems very unlikely they'd be heading down that route in the freezing cold at 2am to meet someone. JMO.
Possible that one slipped and got into trouble and the other tried to help, but that wouldn't be my top guess as to what happened, because what were they doing there?

''Scottish police are working with officers in Hungary who are liaising with the family of two sisters who disappeared in Aberdeen three days ago.''
''Specialist search teams and police dogs are helping efforts to trace the pair, who are part of a set of triplets and are originally from Hungary.''
'Eliza reportedly works at Costa Coffee in the Bon Accord shopping centre'

Just in case anyone didn’t notice - they are TRIPLETS. Which is unusual in itself. The other 3rd sister said she spoke to them via video call on New Years Eve.
Huh, okay. At first look I must have misunderstood this article. I thought the brother was the third triplet. Somehow even odder that there is a third female triplet who is NOT missing.

It seems the third triplet did not immigrate to Scotland with the other two. My guess based on the phone call with her and the fact that LE is liasing with family in Hungary.

Are there any locals here who have an opinion regarding why someone might walk on that path at that time?

Does it lead anywhere they might have wanted to go (a bar/restaurant, a hotel, train station or taxis or parking garage, for example), or could people not familiar with the area mistakenly think it leads to something like that?
