"Hollande said: "France will not let itself be overwhelmed or frightened even if today we are overcome with sadness and emotion.""

"After praising the work of the firemen, paramedics and doctors who dealt with the extremely disturbing scenes across Paris, Hollande on Friday vowed a tough response.

"We will lead the fight and we will be ruthless, and we had to be here among the people who were subject to these atrocities because when the terrorists are capable of doing such acts they must know that they will face a France very determined -- a France united.""

WHAT PARIS' NIGHT OF HORROR MEANS FOR EUROPE

The Economist
http://www.economist.com/news/europ...s-night-horror?fsrc=scn/tw/te/bl/ed/whatparis

The ease with which such recruits have been able to travel to IS’s stronghold in Raqqa, Syria by just getting a plane ticket to Turkey and then continuing by road is not quite matched by their ability to return to their homes. Security agencies and police do their best to monitor them and prosecute them if they have evidence. But it is estimated that at least half the jihadists who have gone to Syria in the past four years have come back hardened, brutalised and plugged into technically savvy support networks. In both France and Britain, there may be around 400-500 such people.

To them can be added unknown numbers of radicalised individuals who have never left home, but are persuaded by the ceaseless flow of jihadist propaganda on social media to carry out so-called “lone wolf” attacks. Although Ayoub El-Khazzani, the young man who attempted to massacre passengers on a train in Belgium last August was a Moroccan national, he could just as easily have been a radicalised local. Lone-wolf attackers are regarded as a particularly acute problem by security agencies because of their sheer unpredictability and the impossibility of keeping all those with the potential to carry out such attacks under surveillance.

As yet, the identity of the eight perpetrators of last night’s series of attacks is not in the public domain, but given the careful coordination and ruthless efficiency of the operation it would be surprising if they had not received training at an IS-run camp in Syria or similar establishment elsewhere, such as in Yemen where AQ remains powerful. (That is also where the terrorists responsible for the attack on Charlie Hebdo, a satirical magazine, in Paris in January were trained.) It would also be surprising if they did not have accomplices providing them with support and infrastructure.

I saw a video, maybe 2 weeks ago and I don't remember where it was taken, of a suicide bomber and his belt went off too soon. He was lying in the road still alive from just above the waist up. His bottom half was completely gone.

OMG, that is just awful!

Yes, suicide bombers don't take too many others out when they detonate.

How these terrorists came prepared for what they did in the Paris concert hall tells you all you need to know--they certainly didn't go in with only suicide belts on...they had guns and grenades as well as those belts. They clearly took additional weaponry(despite the added risk of detection) with them because they knew this was the best way to maximize the casualties.

US cities increase security after Paris attacks
http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/pa...increase-security-after-paris-attacks-n463306

"Major cities in the U.S. have bolstered security after a series of terror attacks in Paris Friday left at least 127 dead.

The New York Police Department dispatched its “critical response group,” which is equipped with high-powered weapons, and other security to crowded areas of the city on Friday.

Additional officers were deployed to the French embassy and French government sites in the city, NBC New York reported. Police said there was no known credible threat, but the extra security measures were being taken “out of an abundance of caution.”"

FBI director James Comey said during a House Committee on Homeland Security hearing on Wednesday that the federal government does not have the ability to conduct thorough background checks on all of the 10,000 Syrian refugees that the Obama administration says will be allowed to come to the U.S.

Mike. Huckabee on CNN today suggested that if France closed their borders to Syrian refugees, the US should do so. I don't know that I agree with him, but we must find a solution.

Includes video..

"Paris attacks: Does Eagles of Death Metal concert footage show gunman prowling venue moments before carrying out slaughter?"

"The girlfriend of Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes may have caught one of the Paris gunmen on video moments before the terrorists slaughtered at least 80 revellers.

The band were on stage when attackers stormed their sold-out concert, with reports of gunman shouting: "This is for Syria, this is for Syria" before gunning down patrons.

Hughes' girlfriend - Tuesday Cross - had an access all areas pass and broadcast the moments leading up to the terrorist attack on Periscope.

It shows her entering the concert hall to the side of the stage before walking to the back of the venue and up some stairs to the balcony to look down on the group playing.

She can then be heard saying that the phone on her battery is beginning to run out and starts to walk along the balcony corridor where a figure suddenly appears in front of them - all dressed in dark clothing."

Thanks and you're welcome. Unfortunately I've had a lot of practice over the past 7 month in the Northern Colorado Shootings / Possible Serial Shooter has Colorado Drivers on Edge threads.

(O/T, but heres the latest screenshot from Forager's casemap, gives you guys an idea of what we've been working with. One of many possible theories presented by an acute poster actually mentions the possibility of this too being the work of a terrorist group, possibly ISIS recruits, etc...snipped rest by me).

My heart is so heavy this morning. A sleepless night. Thinking of the fear, pain and sorrow of those in France. We are all too familiar.

A shoutout to FB for setting up the safe alerts. Though, I have only seen it from one cousin in Paris, I pray the rest will start popping up.

Prayers to all of us.

The governor of Bavaria says the arrest of a man in Germany last week may be linked to the Paris attacks.

A spokesman for Bavarian state police spokesman confirmed that firearms, explosives and hand grenades were found when undercover police stopped a man near the German-Austrian border on Nov. 5.

Ludwig Waldinger declined to confirm reports by public broadcaster Bayrischer Rundfunk that the man appeared to be en route to Paris when he was arrested.

syrian passport found near body of attacker ..france tv

Reminds me of the passport/license/whatever found after 911. The answer to who done it was literally blowing in the wind generated by the collapse of the twin towers. Kinda convenient, thinks I, but who knows? A lot of years have turned me into a skeptic.

My opinion only

In light of the following events; The Russian Metrojet with 224 people killed in what US Intel (who hates to even use the word terrorist) believes it was the successful work of these terrorists, now 2 weeks (?) later Paris is hit with a wave of attacks killing over 100 and wounding around 200 French people, and the warnings that more is coming from these animals---you better believe it that something is going to be attempted here in America.

I absolutely agree that we need to, and wish they would, shut down our borders (and put a padlock on them for good measure) but with the policies of our POTUS thus far as it relates to terrorism (foreign or domestic), well...you know how the saying goes; wish in one hand and spit in the other, see which one fills up first. It just is not going to happen I'm afraid.

A FRENCHMAN AMONG THE TERRORISTS

Le Point
http://www.lepoint.fr/societe/attentats-a-paris-le-jour-d-apres-14-11-2015-1981567_23.php

According to Agence France-Presse, the body of a Frenchman known to intelligence services, was identified at the Bataclan. The identification was made possible by a finger cut off on site. The imprint made a "match" with the FNAEG (national automated genetic fingerprint file), according to i> Télé. According to our sources, the man would be arouind thirty years of age.

The suicide bombers from the Stade de France are being identified. Two passports, one Syrian and one Egyptian, were found on site.

Shutting down our borders is useless!
They are here. They are planning. They will act.
