Only tangentially related, perhaps, but…

Last night, I watched a docudrama on PBS called Mr. Bates vs The Post Office, not knowing what it was about, but it starred actor Toby Jones, who I have enjoyed prior.

It is about the “Post Office Horizon scandal”in the UK (1999-2015), which I’d not heard of. To my surprise, the company Fujitsu was mentioned several times, as the supplier of the Horizon system.

Many subpostmasters’ lives were destroyed; it was a very sad and infuriating situation.

I wondered, as a managing director with Fujitsu, if during his time with the company, Jean Francois Guerrier had to deal with this.

Terrible! And very interesting.

In November 2021, it opened a criminal investigation into Fujitsu staff who gave evidence in trials of subpostmasters. These were tech workers Gareth Jenkins and Anne Chambers.

There are several articles about Karen Carter in French media, but those I've seen have been for abonnents, although often there is a bit that can be read before they become locked (usually more than I've seen in other paywalled articles). I found this article in 'Sud Ouest', a newspaper covering Dordogne where she lived. There is a video showing the village where she lived, as well as some photos of Karen. I was able to watch the video, but I don't know if it's available in the US, I'll post the link, without translating the article.

I did not remember she filed the day before she was murdered. I was under tbe impression the divorce had been going on for a while but I'm trying to keep up with too many cases right now.

I got the impression that the friend was told about KC's divorce filing one day before KC was killed. When KC was in SA with her football team, she met with lawyers about property division. It's unclear if she spent any time with the husband.

suspecting somebody from SAfrica seems like clutching at straws to me.
But sure,
every theory must be checked.

I'm afraid this will become a cold case.

The only hope is DNA left.
But is it of the perp???

JMO, while “South African trace” needs to be checked, some closer connections are of interest. Guests at Karen’s Airbnb, for example.

MOO: Karen was truly discrete, even in her relationship with Mr. JFG. And Mr. G was, by all means, a man of certain “standing” within the village. A short prior fling with someone “outside of Karen’s circle” could be totally unnoticed by the locals. And yet it is not I’mpossible, as Karen lived in Tremolat for many years. I am thinking of a man who could get very jealous of JFG. On the day before murder, Karen opened her own bank account with the help of Mr. JFG. Someone might have gotten enraged with this.

Also, didn’t Karen want to purchase an apartment in another part of the village? It would be interesting to find out where precisely the intended place was, geographically. If I remember correctly, G lived to the west of the village and Karen, to the east of it. If she planned to move more west, could it indicate that the jealous person lived somewhere in the eastern part of Tremolat? He could also be coming from another village next to Karen’s gite, and moving away would make her feel more protected.

Might her move serve to avoid someone else, considering her new relationship with JFG?
