October!??!!?! Okay....

Right? Sounds far off but it really isn't.
I attached the schedule a couple of weeks ago for you. It has lots of dates for pre-trial events, just no actual trial date. The October date is the latest one that was specified. Hope that helps!

Yes, I saw that - but thought there "might" be a hearing in between some of those dates. Thanks for that! :)

Father, son suspects in Ahmaud Arbery killing want bond set, 2 charges dropped

August 7, 2020

The white father and son accused of killing Ahmaud Arbery, who was Black and was jogging down a Georgia street, are looking to have bond set and two charges dropped, according to new court documents.

Attorneys for the son, Travis McMichael, 34, called him an "excellent candidate for low bond."

He was never charged with a crime until this case, according to court documents filed Thursday.
[.....]
Travis McMichael's father and fellow defendant, former police officer Gregory McMichael, also "meets the conditions for pretrial release on reasonable bond," his attorneys said in documents filed Thursday.

Gregory McMichael's attorneys asked the court to set a hearing within 20 days.
[.....]
The McMichaels and Bryan also want the charges of malice murder and criminal attempt to commit a felony dropped.

@watergirl62 - I see they asked for a hearing within 20 days - anything "new" in the court site? TIA!

The George Floyd trial won't be the only proceeding on Court TV's roster that has captivated the nation: the network will also be covering Georgia v. Gregory McMichael, Travis McMichael, and William Bryan, the case involving the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, who was killed while jogging through a south-Georgia neighborhood, and California v. Robert Durst, the case that was the subject of the HBO documentary The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst. "Georgia allows cameras, so we expect to be able to pull back the curtain on every moment of the trial involving the death of Ahmaud Arbery.

Hundreds of Georgia attorneys demand prosecutors formerly involved in Ahmaud Arbery murder case resign

In an open letter to the Georgia State Bar Thursday, more than 300 Georgia attorneys joined with several civil rights groups demanding Brunswick District Attorney Jackie Johnson and Waycross District Attorney George Barnhill step down from their positions.

The letter calls for the Georgia State Bar to investigate to the two prosecutors for conflict of interest and misconduct.

Gregory McMichael worked as an investigator for Johnson's office prior to retiring. Barnhill’s son is an assistant district attorney in Johnson’s office and had previously worked with McMichael.

Johnson and Barnhill’s handling of the case resulted in delays in justice for Arbery’s family.

Attorney General Chris Carr’s office continues to review a federal investigation into Barnhill and Johnson.

Ahmaud Arbery named honorary member of Boston Marathon team

Ahmaud Arbery has been named the 25th member of the Honorary Boston Marathon Team.

The Boston Marathon announced the news on their official Instagram account. “The 25th member of the Honorary Boston Marathon Team was known in his community as an avid runner,” they captioned a photo of Arbery.

“In February, while Ahmaud Arbery was out for an afternoon run in Georgia, he was shot and killed. The deaths of Ahmaud, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and countless others are a tragic reminder of the racial injustice that exists today. The [Boston Athletic Association] believes that everyone — no matter their race, gender, or background — should be able to advance their well-being by running safely and without fear or discrimination of any kind. Though Ahmaud never ran the Boston Marathon, this year, we run for Ahmaud. #BlackLivesMatter.”

Maybe the next court date. There should be one soon on bond reduction for the McMichaels I believe.

TIA! if you can! :)
