I agree. The judge seems measured and thoughtful in all of the interactions that I've seen. The prosecutor steps through each point of fact clearly and compellingly and has not appeared to talk down to the jury or be condescending (unlike the defense attorneys, who have done both).

Former prosecutor Mark Eiglarsh said Hogue had the pulse of the jury.

"I did find the defense lawyer's comments, personally, extremely offensive," Eiglarch said. "That said, I'm going to defend her right to make it, because her job is to do everything that she can to get an acquittal, as long as it's within the confines of what the law allows."

"As outrageous and offensive as I found it personally, I know that she wouldn't have made it if she didn't think it would resonate with those particular jurors," Eiglarsh said. "And that's what she did."

I think the jury will find as follows: all are Guilty of counts of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment

I think the jury will find the two McMichaels guilty of felony murder. I am less sure about RB and whether they will charge him. I believe he played a role, just don't know that I believe he was in communication with or acting in concert with the McMichaels to the degree that a jury will see him as equally culpable. I hope that they do, but honestly, I agree with Gough on one thing in this trial. RB is not the sharpest tool in the box, and the jury may give him a pass on murder because of it.

Guilty on all top counts. Verdict tomorrow morning, only because they will agree to sleep on it before handing down the final verdict because of the seriousness.

I've watched many trials. With all due respect, I think you are overly optimistic.

If I am wrong, I will be more overjoyed than I ever have been in my life to be wrong.

ETA: OTOH, I was on a jury in a civil case years ago. We reached a verdict probably within a minimum of 15 minutes but we sat around the jury room all morning not announcing we had a verdict until after our lunch was delivered. Not that it was going to be a great lunch or anything (I remember distinctly I had a cheese sandwich because I was vegetarian at the time) but I think we felt as if it was too easy and we should make it look as though it wasn't so easy.

I expect though that a criminal case involving the death of a person would be a whole nother animal.

I would be ok with this, assuming RB sees some lengthy prison time for his part.

Jury has retired to the jury room for deliberation. They will start once they have all of the evidence for the Court and the verdict form.

I worry this will be a hung jury. I pray not, and that there are guilty verdicts today.

as to how long the jury will deliberate - I think they will have their decision by sometime late tomorrow afternoon. This jury is tired, they want to be done with this mess.

I don't think there will be verdicts today, and I don't think it would be good if there were. There are a lot of charges and if the jury does its job properly, it needs to seriously consider each one.

I hope the jury finds this as straightforward as I have found it to be. Lifting straight from a John Grisham novel, I'd be the juror that told the others, "Close your eyes and imagine Travis was a black man and Ahmaud was a white man."

Judge Walmsley has finished charging the #AhmaudArbery shooting case jury; Frank Hogue raised objection to the citizen's arrest chase language; Kevin Gough renews "the many mistrial motions" he's made.

Judge says they won't send out live ammo or weapon with jury; they can also request video if needed. Jason Sheffield asked about whether Court reconsidered bringing in jurors to ask them "if anything's come up" re: demonstrations.

Judge said he hadn't heard of any issues, and only reason he moved the jury last night is b/c he heard something that sounded like a crowd outside while talking to them; he asked, and they heard it, and he decided to move them into an interior room.

Judge Walmsley says it was apparently a protest group walking around the courthouse. He thinks moving them was the right thing and did it not for safety concerns or problems, but out of an abundance of caution. Satisfied there are no issues.



Gough pointed out that the Court hasn't inquired of the jurors affirmatively even once. Given all that's transpired in gallery and outside courthouse he thinks it'd be appropriate.

Note--State confirmed alternates are 14, 13, 6. These are their new numbers. Ugh. I don't know who's who now. Gotta check with fellow poolers
