Sometimes there are witnesses to a crime ....anyway .the article said they didnt know how she ended up in the water, they can't know eveyrthing but of course there was speculation in the beginning that maybe she saw something..maybe, maybe not, but I have often wondered after the RE agents drowning if there's a way to drown someone without leaving behind physical evidence....the article didnt say she was drunk or that alcohol was in the blood, maybe it was, maybe it wasn't........................at any rate, i hope we see no more mysterious deaths in this area! It's kinda freaky

I have 5 unsolved cases I am following and this is one of them. I went through most of the posts on here and figured out what a lot of you did that it was someone who was mad at him or them together. The daughter was there recently before this happened. Does she have a husband, boyfriend, adult children? I know the sheriff said the children were not suspects.

I don't know if she had a husband but I have been wondering the same thing.

(Checking in, I know Foxfire really wanted Shirley's and Russell's case solved. Me too, we all do, bless them...

Anyway, thanks folks for your continued attention to their case!)

IMO, I could be 100% wrong, but I think someone asked him or them for money and he or they refused.

Nancydrew, that's been brought up before, could be but I just have problems with how they disposed of them and the beheading, seems like a lot of trouble but who knows! Anyone could have been watching him though, his road runs right into one of the greens where he frequently walked probably, as was reported, that one is easy access at the end of carolyn and the pub and clubhouse are on the other side of that course........

Has there been any recent updates? SS should be doing his annual " I don't know anything new speech" soon or maybe they just want to forget this case because they messed up the evidence

dancin, I have seen many cases unfortunately, where people who want money will kill if they don't get it. Especially if that person needs the money for an addiction. I know these murders were over the top but I can't see any other explanation.

Well IM not saying it's not and I surely dont doubt they'll KILL... but if because of drugs I think there would have been a terrible mess and I dont think they'd have hauled her down river, too much trouble, maybe beheaded him tho out of pure rage but they sure were clean about it especially if they were crazed due to their addiction and needing a fix......sadly Ive seen this kind of rage and it aint pretty, they leave a terrible mess behind ..I dont think they'd be good at planning it out either but that's JMO

It is disturbing to see the maps where RD lived and where he likely walked often to the course at the end of his street, ANYone and EVERYone could see his routine so seems like they were sitting ducks, gonna remember this in my retirment years

Ironically they left Sandy springs to get in a quiet safer community and then THIS

well, here's the update....basically.............He says the case may be cold now, but it’s still active. Sills is waiting for the person who knows what happened to pick up the phone and do the right thing.

http://www.13wmaz.com/news/local/3-years-later-dermonds-murder-unsolved/437309817

He also said, the person who did this is out there and will certainly do it again.............that implies random beheading and not targeting the D's and/or serial killer doesnt' it? NOT what he originally said, that the D's were targeted, knew their perp, and personal

SO sad, praying someone comes forward, nothing else they can do at this point....Hoping it wasn't botched from the beginning,

as Foxfire used to say........there are only bad investigations? Surely there was something that was missed or yeah just whatever they have isnt' in the database yet

Do we know if the family has hired a private investigator to look into this, and if not why? JMO - they were targeted, as far as we know, nothing was missing and the manner of death was a message to someone about something. If this were my parents, I would be all over it, with everything I had and they may be, we just do not know or hear enough to know which was this investigation was heading,,,,,,, is still heading or just prop up feet and wait for someone to talk, don't think that is going to happen.
