Sills discussed the case in detail with Anita Oh, saying:
--Finding Shirley Dermond's body in the lake has convinced him that the couple's killers arrived at their home over the water: "Somebody came by boat for a fact."
And while Sills' investigators have scoured the Great Waters neighborhood for security cameras pointed toward the lake, they haven't found an image of the killers or anything else unusual.
--He also believes more than one person took part in the killings. "Could 1 person do it? Sure, but the circumstances and evidences lead me to believe it was a minimum of 2 people."
--There is "definitely no doubt about it" that Russell Dermond's head was cut off and Shirley's body dumped was to "conceal evidence, buy time and obstruct roadblocks in our investigation. Does it show depravity? Yes, but it was for self-preservation of whoever done it.."
one of the few times I agree with him lol, not that I think i know more, but because of mostly bad reporting or descriptions
...How their killer or killers arrived is anyones guess.
I still think they came by car, but there is no question whatsoever that Mrs. Dermonds body was, in my opinion, disposed of by boat, Sills said. They could have come by boat. ...
Let's remember, though, that much more recently (last month), Sills said something a little different (bbm in the quote):

I may be remembering wrong, but I'm fairly certain we discussed the garage layout at length a few months ago. I believe that there are two garage doors, but on the wall at a right angle, there is another garage door. I think the consensus was that it was a golf cart parking space? Does anyone else remember the discussion?
Can anyone figure out what is behind the lattice wall under the screened porch in the third photo? Could it be a open air concrete patio or a separate entrance to the lower level? If it is to cover up the slope of the land, why not have a solid wall there to keep the ground from shifting?
It looks like there would be enough room under that screened porch for a garage on a lower level, but why have a lattice wall there? Then, wouldn't it have been a carport?

Is there only one gate to the entire complex (subdivision and golf course and swimming pool, tennis and clubhouse) or are there separate accesses to the different amenities?
Is this gate/gates always manned 24/7?
Looks more and more like this case will join the ranks of unresolved. I just don't believe the investigation has progressed at all despite the "forensic evidence" alluded to by Stills. Blind alleys all around. The person of interest also alluded to by Stills? Could be someone who was less than truthful about a past felony conviction or expired work permit, etc. I think by now something significant would have developed had it been otherwise, e. g., directly related to the murders. I think all that remains is for someone to talk: someone who knows something about these murders. One has to believe at least two possibly three people directly participated in the Dermond murders, yet I firmly believe at least one or two more person or persons has direct knowledge of this matter. That would make one very uneasy--those with indirect involvement--given the violent nature of these brutal murders. Money does talk--maybe the ante should be raised. Significantly raised. That just might propel somebody forward, and that somebody better do so under the guise of a witness protection cloak.
I agree, maybe the children would like to contribute in getting it raised very significantly.
I worry about the eye witness to the man on the lawn, clearly lived within viewing distance, wondering if Sills knows more on description but isn't saying for the protection of the witnesses, of course, either way, it has been stated, so anyone else as well, would definitely need protecting, people that know are probably zipping a lip out of fear, even an outrageous reward hike may not work due to fear but definitely worth a try
Or the person on lawn may not have anything to do with it. I know I don't have a great memory but something would have to be very suspicious for me to remember when I saw someone at a distance at a neighbor's house. I would have to associate it to something..... like 'There's a man outside at the Dermond's. I thought they were gone to the Derby Party." Or as I was leaving to go to..., I saw ...." If it was very suspicious, I would have called the neighbors or LE.
The witness would almost have to be a neighbor on the cove if the man was on the water side. I don't think you could get a good sighting from across the lake. I guess the witness could have been in a boat. Could have been anyone if he was on the street side.
I think SS knows more on this subject than he is saying, as usual.
I'm sure Sills is indeed withholding information from the public
rsbm --
Of course he is. If he divulged every detail of the investigation to the public, he would be incompetent.
