just wanted to say, and I've thought of this several times, but I dont' really think it'd be that hard to find the D's place coming from Lawrence shoals, maps, gps, PLUS, that's a wide river so I THINK it'd be more easy to follow the main river, I could be wrong but when rivers aren't as wide, it's easy to take the path that looks like the main river when it fact it takes you to a cove or another big river where they split off, , this looks like it's just one channel, at sinclair, there's little river and oconee river, but if you have a map you can tell, however at night it's a bit more difficult either way, BUT DO WE EVEN KNOW THAT IT WASN'T MIDDLE OF THE DAY OR MORNING THAT THE PERPS ARRIVED???Just observations and thoughts........ So easy to put in LS and take out at LS and time of year, as I've said before, isn't quite so busy, hardly at all until after memorial day with families, kids out of school, college students etc https://www.google.com/maps/place/1...1!3m1!1s0x88f6ed24ef40b0fb:0xb1df5a5de07016fc

I may be remembering wrong, but I'm fairly certain we discussed the garage layout at length a few months ago. I believe that there are two garage doors, but on the wall at a right angle, there is another garage door. I think the consensus was that it was a golf cart parking space? Does anyone else remember the discussion?

Sills discussed the case in detail with Anita Oh, saying:

--Finding Shirley Dermond's body in the lake has convinced him that the couple's killers arrived at their home over the water: "Somebody came by boat for a fact."
And while Sills' investigators have scoured the Great Waters neighborhood for security cameras pointed toward the lake, they haven't found an image of the killers or anything else unusual.
--He also believes more than one person took part in the killings. "Could 1 person do it? Sure, but the circumstances and evidences lead me to believe it was a minimum of 2 people."

--There is "definitely no doubt about it" that Russell Dermond's head was cut off and Shirley's body dumped was to "conceal evidence, buy time and obstruct roadblocks in our investigation. Does it show depravity? Yes, but it was for self-preservation of whoever done it.."

one of the few times I agree with him lol, not that I think i know more, but because of mostly bad reporting or descriptions

Let's remember, though, that much more recently (last month), Sills said something a little different (bbm in the quote):

...How their killer or killers arrived is anyone’s guess.

“I still think they came by car, but there is no question whatsoever that Mrs. Dermond’s body was, in my opinion, disposed of by boat,” Sills said. “They could have come by boat.” ...

Was another garage door INSIDE the garage? To the front of the house, there is no room, which would be right side of garage doors, IIRC from the picture, left is the entrance to the screened porch.

Just trying to understand, Thanks

Can anyone figure out what is behind the lattice wall under the screened porch in the third photo? Could it be a open air concrete patio or a separate entrance to the lower level? If it is to cover up the slope of the land, why not have a solid wall there to keep the ground from shifting?
It looks like there would be enough room under that screened porch for a garage on a lower level, but why have a lattice wall there? Then, wouldn't it have been a carport?

Could that be where the water heater, burner etc are?

COULD BE GARDEN TOOL STORAGE, can't tell if it's hinged lattice or not, (lattice door), the only reason I can think that the whole screened porch foundation wasn't enclosed underneath, air return would need to be centrally located, I know sometimes they are put under the house crawl space or in a basement

Is there only one gate to the entire complex (subdivision and golf course and swimming pool, tennis and clubhouse) or are there separate accesses to the different amenities?
Is this gate/gates always manned 24/7?

I wondered that also, as I was viewing maps of the RP community, it's all over the place, both sides of the lake, is there a bridge there to go from GW to the rest of RP I think where the ritz is located on the other side, green county maybe?

Open Cases: Why One-Third Of Murders In America Go Unresolved

Mar 30, 2015 - Criminologists estimate that at least 200,000 murders have gone unsolved since the 1960s, leaving family and friends to wait and wonder.
http://www.npr.org/2015/03/30/395069137/open-cases-why-one-third-of-murders-in-america-go-unresolved

If you're murdered in America, there's a 1 in 3 chance that the police won't identify your killer.

Martin Kaste reported this audio story in two parts on Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Listen to Part 1 above. To hear Part 2, click the audio link below.

To use the FBI's terminology, the national "clearance rate" for homicide today is 64.1 percent. Fifty years ago, it was more than 90 percent.

And that's worse than it sounds, because "clearance" doesn't equal conviction: It's just the term that police use to describe cases that end with an arrest, or in which a culprit is otherwise identified without the possibility of arrest — if the suspect has died, for example.

Criminologists estimate that at least 200,000 murders have gone unsolved since the 1960s, leaving family and friends to wait and wonder.

Looks more and more like this case will join the ranks of unresolved. I just don't believe the investigation has progressed at all despite the "forensic evidence" alluded to by Stills. Blind alleys all around. The person of interest also alluded to by Stills? Could be someone who was less than truthful about a past felony conviction or expired work permit, etc. I think by now something significant would have developed had it been otherwise, e. g., directly related to the murders. I think all that remains is for someone to talk: someone who knows something about these murders. One has to believe at least two possibly three people directly participated in the Dermond murders, yet I firmly believe at least one or two more person or persons has direct knowledge of this matter. That would make one very uneasy--those with indirect involvement--given the violent nature of these brutal murders. Money does talk--maybe the ante should be raised. Significantly raised. That just might propel somebody forward, and that somebody better do so under the guise of a witness protection cloak.

I agree, maybe the children would like to contribute in getting it raised very significantly.

I worry about the eye witness to the man on the lawn, clearly lived within viewing distance, wondering if Sills knows more on description but isn't saying for the protection of the witnesses, of course, either way, it has been stated, so anyone else as well, would definitely need protecting, people that know are probably zipping a lip out of fear, even an outrageous reward hike may not work due to fear but definitely worth a try

Or the person on lawn may not have anything to do with it. I know I don't have a great memory but something would have to be very suspicious for me to remember when I saw someone at a distance at a neighbor's house. I would have to associate it to something..... like 'There's a man outside at the Dermond's. I thought they were gone to the Derby Party." Or as I was leaving to go to..., I saw ...." If it was very suspicious, I would have called the neighbors or LE.

The witness would almost have to be a neighbor on the cove if the man was on the water side. I don't think you could get a good sighting from across the lake. I guess the witness could have been in a boat. Could have been anyone if he was on the street side.
I think SS knows more on this subject than he is saying, as usual.

Damifino, the thing that puzzles me is that (as far as we know) the lawn man has not come forward. The people that saw them were likely on their docks. They could have been down for the weekend and so notice things more or knew the dates they visited. It easily could have been a boater but the docks aren't 1000 ft away I don't think, and I can see across the river at my sisters place, someone on their docks or even farther, on their back porches/deck, if no trees, did so just today however I could not tell gender while they wre ontheir porch but can on the water way or docks, but its approx 1000 ft , give or take

On the other hand, COULD SOMEONE have seen Russell DERMOND on the lawn? We still dont' know time of day. But if it was RD, it COULD explain why the lawn man hasn't come forward....................................?????

I'm sure Sills is indeed withholding information from the public

I'm sure Sills is indeed withholding information from the public

rsbm --

Of course he is. If he divulged every detail of the investigation to the public, he would be incompetent.
