Is there an actual copy of the return on the search warrant? All I can find is "People magazine said they obtained a copy." I would like to see the actual return.

Why not the other two dogs?
I kinda want to wait for tox screens to come back .
I respect that

IMO
Don’t think anybody purposefully harmed the dog, rather, it had been in the crate (perhaps sick, or Betsy was just letting it out in the morning)

Yes ..
I have another post where I linked all references, but they’re also in the PDF—

I think this is an important article to read, whether it applies to the Hackmans’ situation or not. The prevalence of depression among caregivers is 41%, and women develop in more frequently than men. Periodically we get cases making us think about postpartum depression or caregiver’s depression or some other “silent” conditions.

“211 is a free and confidential service that helps people across North America find the local resources they need. The Caregiver Outreach Program merges AARP caregiving team's expertise on the needs of caregivers with the United Way and 211 network of local resources, trained staff, and the infrastructure to deliver.” The number is 211 or 211.org website.

I think she was poisoned and shared her poison with her dog , but she didn't know that. IMO.

Sheriff Adan Mendoza | 00:02:05

“Collected from the residence were two green-colored cell phones, two bottles of medication, one bottle of over-the-counter Tylenol, medical records, and a 2025 monthly planner calendar. Those items were ssecured from the residence for evidentiary purposes.

What is Occam's razor here, it's hard to know? I'm assuming a health event , followed by another health event, brought about by the first? And sadly the death of the dog was a consequence of this, being trapped in his/her crate? Being that they were reclusive by choice, and Betsy likely being capable of all household chores, maybe they did not have a maid, cleaner, chef etc to come in and find them. They obviously had at least 1 gardener/maintenance man/grounds keeper, which can be expected of a 12 acre (I think I read this) property, owned by an older couple with money. By all accounts, they seemed to just be living life as normal citizens of the Santa Fe community.

I do find it odd that despite all getting along (it seems anyway) that there were not more frequent calls/texts or even visits between family members. Were there any visits made at Christmas I wonder? Family dynamics can definitely be odd.

I just find it sad they they lay dead there for a week, nearly 2, before they were found. Who knows how instant or drawn out their deaths were? I guess nobody would ever have guessed that something like this would occur. Due to the age difference, I assume it would be thought that Betsy would be able to get help should something occur. Maybe vice verse if Gene was still capable. Whilst it's been reported his health had declined lately, there doesn't seem to be much mentioned about his cognitive abilities and whether they were impacted. I wonder if this played into things at all, especially if she went first. I'm also wondering, after this amount of time, how accurate can the authorities pinpoint day/time of death? (Noted: info from his pacemaker is pretty clear on a day, possibly time, but what about her?)

No real insight or questions here, just my ramblings out loud.
That's been my thinking since we got the latest details here. His wife's health event came first, and led to his (no caregiver). That's the worst/saddest possible scenario though, so I really hope that's not the case.

Some questions that would really offer some clarity here if we had the answers:

1. What was Gene's cognitive state? Was he all there mentally, or did he have dementia or something?
2. What level of care was his wife required to provide?
3. What was her health status?

Because if he's relatively healthy and his wife drops dead, he should be able to obtain assistance.
But if he's suffered from cognitive decline and is unable to care for himself, this makes sense.

I think the dog died from a lack of food and water.

A German shepherd was found dead about 10 to 15 feet from Arakawa, the document said. That dog was in a crate or a kennel, according to Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza.

But two other dogs were found alive, and it appeared they had access to a doggy door, the sheriff said. One healthy dog was near Arakawa and the other was located outside, according to the search warrant.

But..People don’t just drop dead and die—

They have a brain bleed after a fall, or blunt force trauma, a stroke, seizure, heart attack, etc…

  1. Out of the two of them, who do you think printed out the medical records?
  2. Who’s records did they print?
  3. Why?
(Would love to hear everyone’s opinions)

I don’t know who the question pertains to. I probably missed the post about printed out medical records.

I personally would be more interested in Ms. Arakawa’s medical records. If the thyroid medication was hers, I’d like to know when she last saw a doctor and when the thyroid hormones were last checked.

One thing that is important is not to over- or under dose thyroid medications. If the family became isolated, it could have easily happened.

MassGuy,
I ,ty ,for keeping me Informed.
I did not realize the dog who passed was locked and slowly left to die. In a crate.

I really recommend everyone look at this PDF..
Consider using it as your top main reference material for this case— It has everything (except the 911 call) .

I ran OCR & converted additional images to text so that everything is ‘Findable’ in the document

I get it, and I understand the speculation, at the same time I think it's too early to say anything.
What are you speculating about, hopefully it is victim friendly, and also, WS does not allow unfounded accusations against individuals.

We didn’t either for a while, as it’s not in the search warrant. That’s why so many scenarios have changed for us here, as the dead dog factors in greatly without that context.

no speculation here, just responding to different theories.

We do love our pets , so the dog that passed , triggers emotions.
