I wrote a long post and for some reason it was lost. So I will be brief now! Who says he did not commit any crimes? That he was acquitted does not mean he did not commit them. Also women rarely disclose their rape, for reasons we all know. I could turn the argument round and say he committed the crime he was fantasising in 2007 and relived it later in Gemany. This kept him okay for a few years.

He could have for some years been staying low also - and was not given a chance to reoffend.

Who knows? I really believe he did commit all crimes he was charged with, and that he is a deranged and dangerous psychopath.

It's all very well claiming he likely was committing crimes, but the charges which this thread was on there was a ten year ago between the beach incident and the park incident, 2007 and 2017 accordingly ,basically the charges were for historic crimes, had he been trying to get his life together ?
Not forgetting the factory find, is there any record of when he actually buried the stash?

He then hit the victim several times with a whip. The accused is said to have recorded the entire event with a video camera). Took place around the same time (between Dec. 28, 2000 to April 8, 2006) on the Praia de Luz, Algarve coast, Portugal.

DM and HaB did report the crimes against them. Same goes for the beach and playground incidents in Portugal. Most of these crimes happened in a three year period.

There is no smoke without fire, his record tells a story. I agree that he is probably responsible for some of the crimes he was charged with. I have doubts about HeB’s evidence as he has an axe to grind with CB and he is not trustworthy.

What I can’t understand is a) if he is an impulsive sadistic rapist, why are there no charges or even suspicions of him committing this crime from 2005 until his capture in 2017, and b) why any of his record makes him responsible for abducting and murdering MM - he could have but none of this means he did.

Based on the public information I think it’s a stretch to think he is guilty of anything related to MM.

Isn't the prosecutors' appeal to be decided sometime in July? I think that is what I have in my notes.

5/2/25 Update: Prosecutors appeal was submitted in April no verdict is expected until the summer, at a guess July at the latest the courts shut in August.

It’s the issue surrounding the narrative of the protagonist in the first instance that’s the problem.

No one is creating stories about CB other than HCW, the organisations he represents and those that believe these stories. There is no counter narrative, alt-theory or whatever you want to call it. Only people with common sense reserving judgement until proof is provided.

I’d love it if the fairytale of CB and MM came to be true but there is no sign of that happening because it’s just a plausible story, nothing more.

As far as I’m aware - they are appealing on more than one front. It’s possible that one complaint will take longer to judge & may push the decision date beyond September.

They’ve also asked for an explanation as to why this case was heard by a judge who had just stepped up from working youth courts. Whether founded or unfounded, they have taken issue with the judge having little experience hearing cases at that level.

One challenge is that the judge’s decision to not to allow certain evidence won’t be classified a “legal error” even though it restricted the court from finding actual truth. The legal error will be something found in the finer detail and may apply to one of the cases rather than one of the blanket decisions applied to all four.

Indications are that the appeal has a relatively low prospect of success and therefore unfortunately may not lead to a re-trial where a judge allows for more of the evidence to be heard.

Is there really a gap in crimes/charges, like five years? Doubtful he was in some kind of magical remission. So where was he?

Married or partnered, with an in-house victim supply? Doubtful because she would have come forward, I'd think.

Incarcerated? That would be my guess. Under an alias? In an unsleuthed country?
