I agree. Even though i love watching the coverage of people in the storms I personally would not recommend it. The main reason is flying debri. It always amazes me that more newscasters dont get beamed in the head with a chunk of something flying around.

Dear Hatfield,

I wish that they could have the reporters speak "over" the live cam, describing what is happening.

Not having the reporters in the actual storm wouldn't reduce the number of viewers, in my opinion. Most would still tune in to watch the "live cam" while hearing descriptions.

I'd really like to see them move away from anyone report live at these potentially dangerous scenes.

Wow. The live footage from 34 miles offshore is amazing. A good example of what "sustained winds" is like. The sound is roaring.

Sustained winds can cause a lot of damage even if the MPH is not as bad as they originally expected. Sustained winds are bad because once a shingle or small part of your house peels up then the sustained winds keep working on it until it finally gives way an peels all the way off.

This is going to be a long event of sustained winds. Ample time to peel stuff off of buildings and houses.

Prayers for everyone affected.

I totally agree. The "Frying Pan" video from 34 miles off shore with the roaring sound is plenty to see what is going on. We dont really need people saying its bad out here. We know its bad.

I love that there are more and more Live Cams setup in lots of places. We will have many different ones to choose from. I usually try to google to find them. I usually pick a tourist city where I know they are likely to have a live cam in that city.

Thanks to everyone who is sharing the good live cam links.

Just a reminder to all the folks evacuating: Take all your automobiles with you. Please don't leave them behind. Have some consideration for the rest of us who have to pay higher insurance premiums to cover the cost of replacing your abandoned vehicles. TIA.

The problem with that, surely, is that the roads are going to be clogged up with unnecessary vehicles, all needing fuel that's in short supply, delaying people getting away. Why take 3 vehicles when you can get the family into one?

Are those people in the water?
Yeah, I saw them. Just like we do here when we go stand out in the back yard and watch the tornado come right at us. It’s a crazy impulse. I’d sure get away from that water if I were them. Go figure...
