I think they got a clue and are awaiting for the FBI to suss it out. JMO
I think they have a clue as well! The grandpa saw the boy go over the bank to the creek. That is a steep bank that we saw in the video of the campground! Unless the grandpa saw the parents go after the toddler down the bank, wouldn't he get up and chase him or yell for help? If he wasn't physically able to get up and follow the boy, I don't believe that the parents ever actually left the toddler with ggp near the bank/creek. Toddlers explore. That's what they do.
The sheriff seems to be basing his feeling "good" about the POI's based on the fact that they are cooperating. That is not a high bar in my mind. Of course they are cooperating. If they refused to cooperate, they might as well scream out "I was involved!" I imagine he wants to keep a good rapport with all the POI's because he doesn't want the info to stop coming. He can't exactly say publicly that he thinks one or the other is shady if he doesn't have enough evidence to prove it and bring charges.
I don't think he's good at all with anyone if he even thinks there is an albeit slim chance that the little boy never made it to the campground.
It is great to finally know at least the arrival time, that someone went to the store on Fri and that IR said he was downstream at the creek when the boy went missing. (Coincidence that ggp says the boy went over the bank to the creek and IR was at the creek and then the boy went missing?)
Another train of thought, if the boy fell down the bank and went into the creek he could have drowned. I don't know if that could get the parents or ggp into legal trouble, but, if so, could that be possible motive for a cover up of an accidental death?
I am having trouble with the fact that the parents didn't clarify with Nate that they arrived Thurs. He interviewed them directly. He relayed the information they gave him. That is very suspicious to me. If they were upset about rumors, why wouldn't they want to clarify the rumor that they arrived Fri. There is a reason. We just don't know what it is.
Also, we know the dad left the campground in his car after they returned from the store (per his own, deeply explained account). I wish we knew where he went--was it really just a half mile down the road?
I'm sorry, this case isn't getting less fishy, it's getting more fishy!
