I don't think that Jacob "stole" a gun from his parents, I certainly doubt his parents are wording it that way. If my kids went camping and my daughter took my hairbrush I certainly wouldn't consider it stolen, a gun is no different. I'm sure if these kids were not missing the parents would think nothing of it.

Unless of course the safe was somehow forced open and the gun taken. Which I doubt, since the parents didn't notice the gun missing until the search warrant.

I am not feeling the meth connection here.

The new info with the bloody man phone call certainly makes my theory seem stronger, I have a feeling Jacobs body will be found soon. I was really thinking it was in the river, but since they made no effort to hide Jessica's body aside from covering it with branches, I'm wondering if Jacob is in the trunk of a car somewhere. Assuming the BG (bad guy) had his won vehicle.

Oh I getcha now Dushi! Slipped right by me.

So do you think he coulda stumbled upon something? I do think that's possible...

Its hard to say
I don't know if he is a perp or a victim
But its always possible that they saw something that they were not meant to see

Its just another theory
Trying to find a reason..

I wonder who the bloody guy called that night. I'm sure LE has traced the all and verified by the recipient who called them that night.

I'm a little surprised that the phone owner didn't call the police when bloody guy showed up. I'd be skeered.

I thought the same thing. He's an adult, and from what I've read on FB, his family does a lot of fishing and hunting. He probably took a gun for protection (from people or animals) and didn't think anything of it. I know this may sound strange to those from big cities, but it's really not a big deal here.

The way I see it, the most likely scenarios are:

A) Jacob killed Jessi and is on the run (I know we want to think he is innocent, but this is still a realistic possibility)
B) Jacob killed Jessi and then committed suicide somewhere
C) Jacob and Jessi saw something they shouldn't or came across the wrong person who then killed them.

We've thrown the meth lab theory around a lot, but LE hasn't actually said that meth had anything to do with this.

From what I have read , the word "stole" was never used

The words used were a gun is missing
You are probably right, I just find the wording odd
It appears to me from the wording that they didn't know it was gone

The reason I was investigating meth in the area is bc of all the talk about meth being a huge problem there. Then it's discovered that a meth house was confiscated near where the crime scene was. Pair that with the media reporting that an abandoned house was going to be searched that's located near the crime scene... So I was only trying to pull as much info as I could regarding an illegal drug angle that maybe happened upon these two unsuspecting camping fishermen(gal).

I don't like the fact that there is a gun missing from the Wheeler home.
If it was just a matter of self protection on a camping trip, wouldn't he have just asked to borrow it?

When i read missing, it says it was taken without the owners knowledge

That is a great post Dushi. I was thinking the exact same thing. All things considered I would think that maybe Jacob is responsible for this situation. Having said that though you would also think that if he shot Jessica he would have taken off in his truck.

I don't know which is more likely. I think a lot might depend on that guys story about geting a knock at the door at 3am.

Maybe I missed it but did the homeowner allow his phone to be used? I'm not so sure I would have opened the door until I had called LE.

If the bloody person who knocked on the door was a different race, the witness would probably be sure that it wasnt Jake.

It has always been my fear while camping of running into bad people. Rest in peace Jessi.

I like to camp but I like state parks. Wilderness camping isnt for me. I like baths and a nice place to pee. :what:

I asked Disclosure on the FB page if the guy who answered the door was SURE it wasn't Jake, and they said it has been verified. He was not the one who knocked on the door.

snipped...Jacob Wheeler, 22, of Carmi has not been seen or heard from since Saturday night when the two went camping along the Little Wabash River at a remote location near Centerville in northern White County.

“We still haven’t ruled anything out,” said White County Sheriff Doug Maier. “Since we still haven’t located him, we must assume it is possible he has committed this crime. However, there is still the possibility that he is a victim. We just don’t know at this time.”

On Wednesday, officials with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources launched a boat into the Little Wabash River in search of clues.

“I can confirm that there is a weapon missing from the home of a family member of Mr. Wheeler,” Maier said. He declined to identify the type or caliber of the gun. Later today, Maier and Illinois State Police detectives are scheduled to meet to review evidence and discuss further investigative strategy.

I am wondering about the tree branches used to cover the girl's body. Were they just laying on the ground and picked up to use as cover? Or did someone cut them for that purpose? Where we live, we don't usually see many tree branches just laying on the ground, except maybe after a bad storm. Or had someone cut them for firewood? As for the truck keys being missing, someone could have thrown them into the stream. What happened to the cell phone that the girl had, was it found? Wasn't there supposed to be a press conference on the case today?

  • #415
Law Enforcement is meeting later today, but it's not a press conference.

Maybe they were small branches and they just kind of pulled them off the trees.

Well, it certainly would match the fact of Jacob not having a phone. Almost everyone has a cell these days. So you now have at least two people who were out after midnight that night in the vicinity of a girl found with three gunshot wounds to head..with no phone.

I'll hold out on this latest info...for MSM confirmation, since there is no description of him or further details as to why? Who in their right mind would shoot someone, have blood on their clothing and walk up to someone's door at 3AM and ask to use the phone?

I was thinking about that too.. could it be possible that they were from when the truck was going down the enbankment??

If the branches were arranged in a way to cover her face...that is often indicative of the killer being someone close to the victim. Would be helpful to know if she appeared to be deliberately covered up.

  • #419
They should know by now whether it is the same gun calibur as the Wheelers right?

  • #420
I don't get this- we know she talked to her mom around midnight Sunday morning. So she had to die after that time. She was also seen Saturday evening at McDonald's. There is no way she could have been dead for 48 hours before she was found Monday afternoon- that would have put her death on Saturday afternoon.

I'm guessing all that info is being kept quiet as part of the investigation.

I wonder if they are POSITIVE it was not Jacob at the door that night. That's just a really big coincidence, a guy showing up blood the same night a girl is murdered, in the same area. I would think it almost has to be either Jacob or the 3rd party killer.

I'm just theorizing here. . .I bet they took DNA off the phone that was used. That's the only way I can see them being sure it wasn't Jacob.

And if that's true it's highly likely we have a 3rd person.

MOO. .. I wasn't too keen on the meth angle before, but I'm wondering if Jacob wasn't supplying someone else with materials. He borrows a gun to bring because he is meeting with someone. . . and something goes wrong. Idk how I feel about that theory, but something just isn't right here. Why haven't they found Jacob yet?
