I hope Mrs. Gliniewicz doesn't hold her breath waiting on a call from the White House. Not going to happen.
Why? Do you suppose? JMO

'GI JOE'S WIDOW: 'NOT ONE WORD' FROM PRES. OBAMA
At least she asked for someone to come forward....
Cady, I think it's still possible that the Lt intentionally shot himself twice (aiming for his vest) to try to make it look like he was ambushed. He might have intended to survive his staged attack to grab some headlines or for other reasons. Who knows why?
If (that's a big if) . . . IF that's what he was up to - he may have missed his vest on the 2nd shot and as we know, that shot resulted in his death.
That is possible but I can not think how they would ever prove it unless he did some computer searches on workmans comp recently and was interested in other officer shootings.
I can think of only one way the forensic evidence could point more towards an accidental suicide than an intentional one in this case.
I think it would have a lot to do with the precise angle and placement of the fatal shot.
For example, If the fatal shot was fired in such a way that the muzzle of the gun was shoved behind the front neck area of the vest and then fired? That would not be consistent with an attempt to make it look like an ambush - where the Lt intended to survive the struggle. He would know that would not be survivable.
However, if the second shot was to the chest area of his vest and he simply missed the protective portion of his vest?
Then it becomes possible and much more believable that his intent was to shoot himself in the vest and survive the hit - no expecting that the shot would go so wrong.
This is why I would like to know more about the 2nd shot.

What is an accidental suicide? There is no accidental suicide option for the manner of death. It's suicide homicide natural accidental or undetermined.
Now I know you will say its when you accidentally kill yourself. But the 2nd shot was no accident. It was intentional. Now an accidental suicide would be playing Russian roulette while thinking the gun was empty and accidentally killing yourself. Jmo

I'm not a lawyer, but I would imagine that trying to fake a shooting to make it look like you were ambushed and unintentionally killing yourself in that (criminal) act would probably be legally recorded as a "suicide."
When I consider the possibility that it may not have been the Lt's "intent" - it's only for the purpose of trying to better understand what might have actually happened and what his intentions might have been.
Agree. I know we are all throwing out possibles. But I think a shot to the thigh or arm would have sufficed for that theory.
Why needlessly suffer an injury when you can stage the same scene by shooting your vest instead?
In the first three weeks after the still-unsolved Sept. 1 shooting death of Fox Lake police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, taxpayers in 50 suburban jurisdictions paid more than $300,000 combined to cover costs of local law enforcement personnel who assisted in the investigation.
According to a Daily Herald analysis of personnel records from the 50 police agencies throughout northern Illinois, almost two-thirds of the costs -- $196,351 -- were related to overtime, including some for officers who were paid to attend Gliniewicz's Sept. 7 funeral.

I wrote to a few local news agencies asking them to please do a story on this. I am so glad someone is finally questioning the expenditures.[h=1]How much is Gliniewicz investigation costing taxpayers? [/h]
