hi mollyandme-- in another thread you mentioned some unsourced evidence as being possible IDI proof... the hand prints were found to be both PR and john's daughter melinda, and the hair was PR's. the fibers on the bat were sourced to a carpet. the site you linked contains errors and is not up to date. hope this helps!

thank you for the constructive and kind criticism, i really do appreciate it. i'm kinda new to actually researching, normally i just post on what my gut instincts are so i'm still learning what is reliable and what is not. it's refreshing to have kind poster point me in the right direction

You'll get the hang of it. We all have gut feelings about the case, but it is important to know the facts. The autopsy report is invaluable, as are the depositions. It takes time, but reading a few of the books written by case insiders is also extremely helpful. If you are pressed for time and want a crash course, there is a DVD of Lawrence Schiller's book "Perfect Murder, Perfect Town". It is available on Netflix and probably elsewhere. In under 2 hours, you'd have a pretty good idea of how the investigation went, and it does a great job of portraying the conflicting relationships in the BPD and their relationship with the DA' s office.

Since this has been bumped, and people are considering JARDI theories, may I point out Cynic's post #11, and Agatha_C's post #56.


I would also point out that if JARDI, no fewer than 7 people are involved in providing a false alibi for JAR. While it's believable that LR and MR might lie to protect JAR, and maybe SL is sucked into doing the same, it's much harder to believe the other four were close enough to be willing to make false statements to police to help JAR get away with murder.

Brad Millard was a friend. Good enough friend to lie to the police? Good enough to fly JAR to GA in the wee hours of the 26th thus making him an accessory after the fact ? IMO not likely.

Chris Stanley. Same as above.

Harry Smiles. He was a friend of Lucinda's. Why would he feel a need to lie about JAR's presence in GA the evening of the 25th?

Judy Crowder. Neighbor who hosted Christmas dinner attended by Lucinda, MR, SL, and JAR. I'd think it's very unlikely she was willing to give JAR a false alibi.

A rational person would have to conclude that it's unlikely 7 people agreed to provide JAR with a false alibi.

JARDI doesn't fly, it just doesn't have wings.

Even more sad when you see JBR's and Beth's markers side-by-side (obscured by sunlight in the 2nd picture).

I guess the space between PR and her parents is reserved for the last keeper of the secret.

You're welcome. I found it to be a quick way of getting some insight into the relationships between the people involved, especially the police and the DA. The Rs cooperated with schiller, and gave him free access to the house so he was able to recreate the rooms exactly for his movie. They allowed shots of the exterior of the house to be used as well. I thought Ann-Margaret was pretty good as Nedra, though it was barely a cameo.
The little girl who played JB was adorable. They did use a mannequin for her corpse. I read that they felt it was too traumatic to have the little actress play a dead JB. Besides, a live child couldn't be realistic in rigor mortis- it was pretty creepy (although realistic) to see the way she was laid on the floor and her body kind of rocked a bit like she was made of wood.
As for the date on the tombstone- JR said they made a deliberate choice to put that date on it because they felt using Christmas Day would make the "world" even more horrified at what had happened to her.

JAR as the killer doesn't make sense to me but I don't much about it him as a specific POI. Why would he have left Alanta on Christmas or Christmas Eve to go back Boulder for some type of sexual gratification of molesting his sister if he was the one supposedly doing that? Do people assume his alibi is made up because he was already in Boulder and he was somehow involved in the murder and needed the coverup or to explain how it would be possible to get there and back to Alanta?

I agree and would add one more reason. Patsy would not cover for JAR. No way, not in the death of her daughter. She would definitely cover for Burke.
She would, IMO, cover for John out of a need to keep up appearances and maintain her lifestyle. But JAR? Nope. don't buy it for a minute.

I speak as a stepmother myself with a stepson I do love and have a good relationship with his mother as well, as I remember reading Patsy had with LR.

What role do you think JAR had if any . Was he there that night, or was he where he said he was? Do we know of JAR was close to his little sister, what kind of relationship did they have. What is JAR doing these days? I don't know enough about him to even have an idea of if he was there or not but I suppose he could've been, after all we don't have the rams Christmas morning tapes do we? So what are your thoughts on jar.
