"He always stays very close to his house in the front because he's afraid of not being able to find his house," she said.

This is what Desiree said,I can't see a child this timid and fearful being left in a hall, half a football field away from his class, with so many kids and parents running around.

They could easily have thought that the school was a good place to let him practice some independence in a safe setting. Not so safe, as it turned out, but it wouldn't have been thought a risk.

He wouldn't have had an adult constantly holding his hand during the school day either and the way from the hall to his classroom was familiar enough to him.

Personally I think they are looking for the clue that will be able to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt what happened. That is Kyron. :( I have tears in my eyes thinking that. The poor family.

But he would have supervision from a teacher, not left on his own that far away from classroom door. And I saw no mention that he was watched till he entered back into his class.Common sense would prevail to leave a 7 year old in the class under supervision anyway.

I mean should have prevailed, but obviously did not.

Until my husband used the football field example, I hadn't focused on how far it was. No contradictory intent at all in asking this, but I'm wondering if there has been any official word on approximately how many people were in the school that morning between 8 and 8:45 am? Was that the time during which "outsiders" had to attend to see the exhibits?

We've read it opened at 8am,but I'm wondering if that's for the parents to bring the exhibits in and then the class was divided at 8:15 or 8:45 to take them from room to room.I believe all we have is news articles and they are varying info on that morning.

I had it in my head hundreds of people in the halls and rooms, but the school only has 275 to 300 kids.Looking at the parking lot it isn't even that big,so maybe there weren't that many people in the halls at 8:15 to 8:45,and why noone saw him taken out.Possibly most of the people were in the classrooms at that time.

Now I am all confused Was she 150 yards from him or 150 feet from him?

A football field is
100 yards or 300 feet
50 yards is 150ft

She was 150 feet from him.

Since Kyron was known for having problems with following directions, I wished that SM had walked him to his classroom door. Most parents with children who have difficulty following directions know that their child has to be carefully watched. I have a child (now and adult) that had difficulty following directions and when he was little, he needed adult supervision every second.

Which is why it wouldn't make sense for her to leave him 150 feet,a half a football field, from the classroom door.If she had left at 8:15,she would have left him in the class, why would she walk him to the stairs and leave him there, since Kaine said they've been working really hard with Kyron in following directions? And why are they looking to see if the truck was at that school at any time during the hours of 9am and 4pm?

He ordinarily took the bus every morning. It was a reasonable expectation that he could and would go to his classroom, just as he did every morning after getting off the bus.

I know, but in a same routine with other children.I'm just trying to see if Kaine mentioned them working with Kyron in the classroom for a specific reason. This was the first we had of confirmation this was an issue. And actually it might not have been a good idea, since it opened up more questions.

As far as there possibly not being as many in the halls as we thought, anyone could have just taken him out and not been seen. But,I'm just looking at LE focusing on the SM,but maybe that's all they have to focus on.

We also have to remember that he rode the bus most days and made it from the bus to his classroom without an adult as a personal guide. I often dropped my kids off out front of the school in the mornings.

I think Desiree and Kaine are very unusual how they have tried working together as a family.I guess that's why it's harder to get the family dynamics on this,it's different. It's usually you take him for this time period and I get him on this and they don't work collectively together.I can see him leaving with an adult if told to go with them, also. It's so heartbreaking watching them talk about Kyron.

Wasn't it 150 FEET away? Half a football field would be 150 yards. 150 feet isn't that far. He could have ducked into class...talked to his friend, then slipped off to see the other exhibit thinking he had time before class started.

I believe goal to goal is 100 yards,that would be 300 feet,so half of a field is 150 feet,half a football field.You're making me think math,stop it.LOL

We know that Skyline School was aware of and considering the needs of working parents. They opened the school building early that Friday so that working parents could see their child's exhibit.

A school that is thinking about the needs of working parents then schedules a talent show on the same day? That would mean that parents would come in the morning, then have to come back at 1 pm. That pretty much shoots the afternoon.

Huh. That's not so sensitive to the needs of working parents. If, that is, parents were invited to the talent show.

Over the years, my nephews' schools have had talent shows. I've attended some of them but others were for students only and families were not invited to attend.

Considering what is known about Skyline School, I think it is a fair inference that the talent show wasn't intended to be a family affair.

Good post but I don't understand this talent show business. They state for the entire communityto see on a billboard that their is a Science Fair and Talent Show. Why advertise it if it is not significant? Parents will certainly respond to the billboard and want to see the show.

150 feet

He was last seen by his step-mother walking toward his classroom, 150 feet away.

Thank you for that link BeanE!

Based on the wording in that article, it's difficult to tell (for me at least) if Kyron was 150 feet away from his classroom when Terri left, or if TH was 150 feet away from Kyron as he walked to his classroom.

IMO, it could be interpreted either way, according to how the article is worded.
