‘Perhaps’? That’s far too uncertain. Why are we even at a second trial accusing KR of a crime when we can’t say with certainty how JO died?

If I was a juror the only question I'd be asking is what on earth are we doing here?! JMO.
John O'Keefe's life mattered.

when considering those statements, tone matters. IMO
Okay. Thanks.

Definitely. imo
while it is not their purview I bet some are thinking about potential sentence too. If they are like many here they don't want her to have any jail time and uncertain given this is within a manslaughter heading what that means. Judge can't and won't help.

and how refreshing to return to a trial where an objection is not an immediate signal for sidebar? I think that really got to the jurors. It should be objection .hearsay....asked and answered......beyond the scope and move on. I found the way she runs her court at least for this trial infuriating.
This is the first trial I’ve followed closely. I’m looking forward to viewing others to compare and contrast the prosecutor and judge form KR’s case.. I’ve been thinking about watching the old Jodi Arias trial because I read here that the judge was removed from the bench post-trial. Any current trials anyone would recommend?

I’m disappointed the Sandra Birchmore trial won’t be televised. I’m very interested in seeing the rot that trial will uncover in Canton/Stoughton/MSP. Lots of overlapping people with the KR trial.

That trial won’t be televised? Why? I didn’t know that decision was already made.
Wondering if it’s too sensitive based on things that happened to her as a minor? Or is it just bc it is a cop on trial?..

I believe the feds are prosecuting this trial.

Watching J.D.'s video on AJ's closing, I could watch this over and over, it's so good.

Okay. Thanks.
His life absolutely mattered.

On that note... do you have an opinion on why BA/BH didn't attend his funeral? Considering they did know him, and they did routinely travel to attend other LEO funerals (they had gone to NY for one on the 28th of Jan), why wouldn't they go to John's? Seems like blue lives mattered.. until it didn't IMO

McCabes referred to him as "a man" and "the guy".
Seems they would have thought John's life mattered more then they showed in their words and actions after his death.

Of course JMO

John O'Keefe's life mattered.
I suspect you missed important testimony, evidence.

Okay. Thanks.
His life absolutely mattered, and I cannot imagine the grief and pain his family and friends feel over his loss. ☹️ I know that’s one thing everyone on this thread can agree with - John O’Keefe made multiple positive impacts on this world and in just a few short minutes, he was taken away from them. I understand the anger they feel towards KR, even though she’s not responsible for his death. IMO. I fear they will never get the justice they all deserve.

My BF lost her beautiful son to a horrific accident about 1.5 years ago. She still harbors anger and grief , but because it truly was an accident, she doesn’t direct it towards the individual he was with that evening. I strongly believe, imo, that the police have been lying to the family to keep them angry at KR, which helps the CWs’s case. It tugs at folks’ emotion and creates a situation where some people will vote G based on their feelings.

Hey everyone.
Throughout my almost 30 years in the true crime world on the Internet, I have never encountered anything like this case.
People have written to me with the passion of a thousand white-hot suns, swearing that Karen is not guilty, and others have written to me with the same passion, saying that Karen is absolutely guilty.
As someone who watched this case without knowing all the facts that you all know, I can honestly say it appears the prosecution has mucked up so much that I will be shocked if they find Karen Read guilty. The defense has done a great job of pointing out the prosecution's mistakes. I'm not talking about actual evidence. That has gotten lost in all the noise, in my opinion.

If there is another hung jury, I think I will look at my career choice and decide to leave true crime and become a nun, like I thought I wanted to be when I was 4-years-old. It's the only logical thing I can do. ;)

The feds took over the investigation. I don’t believe a federal trial has ever been televised. Please correct me if I’m wrong!

Okay. Thanks.
Who's saying his life didn't matter? I don't understand how my response about the CW's uncertainty of his cause of death has lead to your comment? JMO.

Google tells me they aren’t. I can live without watching, feeling confident that the feds will have a strong case and he will be found guilty

anyone else getting a bit concerned that after those questions that seemed to indicate where they were that nothing coming down yet?

You are not wrong.

There have been two pilot programs that allowed cameras in civil proceedings in certain federal courts. Two appellate courts and six district courts participated in 1991–1994, and fourteen district courts participated in 2011–2015. As of 2023, the three district courts in the Ninth Circuit are continuing the pilot program. Recording requires the approval of the presiding judge and the consent of the parties.

I hope if they are not on agreement on one of the charges that they are working through it.... it could just be 1 or a few that the others are trying to convice to come to their side.

Waiting is terrible. Cannot imagine how hard it is for those directly involved.
