At the second press conference,The Da said they were making progress. Making progress could have meant that they found out he was a male, and she fought hard. Then other types of progress could have meant, we got the FBI involved with the case, or, the autopsy is now completed, or we have interviewed her friends etc.
One other thing to keep in mind, is, I am sure they would have said that just to make the people of Princeton, and her family confident they were going to catch this guy, by saying things like "we are working around the clock on this case."
D.A. Early is a nice guy, however, I got the sense by the way he was stumbling over his words during those press conferences, that they didn't have much to go on.

I see. I don't want to criticize them because it seemed they were being very tactful, but I honestly do not understand the lack of progress or more at this point in time.

The reports earlier on talked about a special state police crime scene unit going to the scene (I would have to locate the source) to verify in here, and then reports of turning to FBI assistance as well. There appeared to be a lot of manpower on this. I can see why they hold back info. absolutely, but this is getting to be a long time.

But isn't the gully where the guardrail is?
Yes the gully is where the guardrail is. There is a slight banking behind the banking behind the guardrail that slopes down to the gully where he could climb up and look either way along the road.

Ok, but he would have to go over that guardrail, then.

Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to criticize them either. I think they are doing the best that they can, but maybe just don't have a lot to go on.

And with all the manpower on this and probable person from the area, I do not see this perpetrator being inexperienced. That many people on the case would have found things much sooner, if this was inexperienced, first time, etc, IMO.

This perpetrator has been able to do all this leaving little behind (to take action) , still evading Justice all these months.

Yes, I understand you are not criticizing either.

By the looks of it when I went by, and from the video here, it looks like he could climb out of that gully after the guardrail, and on to the path without going over it. Then he could have ambushed her right there on the path.
Maybe FM got a better look at that when he was there.

Oh, Ok.

Why would there be mold on the tree?

There are multiple gullies.

There is the gully along the guard rail....but there are also gullies on either side of the cart path. You couldn't see this in the heavy foliage but you can see it now that the land is open.

I posted a picture of this a few pages back.

It doesn't appear to be an area that is a swampy gully....but with the pond across the street I wouldn't doubt that it can get that way in heavy rains.

However there wouldn't have been water there aug 7, given the draught...so this would not be the reason to not leave here or burn her there....however burning her there because it had denser foliage and likely heavier dead foliage cover...burning her there would have decreased the chances of controlling it and increased the chances of it turning it to a MUCH but larger fire....that said maybe it's part of the reason he chose where he did on the path...it was an area he had better control over the fire and it was hiden.

There also should have been foot prints in the dirt area.

Yes, I believe the location around the corner out of sight where the dirt was, happened to be his choice of place best for the fire.

It could be. But it could also be that he is a sociopath who easily blends back into society and it's just no one anyone would even suspect. He might know VM in a periphery way, friends of friends kinda of thing....perhaps a friend of hers dated a friend of his...something like that....something trickier for LE to pick up on.

But why would she have been on the path in the first place?

Why would there be mold on the tree?

Mold grows everywhere there is moisture and a food supply. Organic materials of course are the food supply.

I think it is safe to say by the photos and descriptions of this path, it is unlikely an outsider would know of it in such a way. Also, it seems likely this person has been on that path before. That would indicate someone in the area who could be an avid, walker, biker, runner or hiker.

Yes I associate mold with moisture.

Yes I do believe sociopath who would be least suspected and returned to regular life. However this person is experienced enough to leave lack of evidence behind to have this be unsolved still.

I know people have all kinds of different views on this. It is appearing to me at this point, he is smart, calculating , experienced, knowledgeable of the area and the outdoors. Could be very nearby, but with the sociopath behavior, is coming across to people as fine and friendly or whatever.
