Madeleine McCann: German Prisoner Identified as Suspect, #41

I hope it's a solid tip.

So many places to conceal a little, with little -- with little hope of recovery.

Binned.
Buried beneath a deceased animal, easy way to throw of scent dogs.
Burial at sea. Any body of water.

I pray she's found. So the conspiracies can be laid to rest, once and for all.

I agree... Its bound to be difficult after all this time

The fact that they go to such lengths to be able to convict Brückner. Surely to me is a sign that they are convinced Brückner is guilty. But don't have enough evidence.
I do have doubts about the “witness” I can hardly imagine that Brückner told all that. But if he is guilty I hope they can convict him!

From the mail.

We have low expectations about these searches but we’ve got our orders and we’re not going to stand in the way.
The information that’s being put out in the public arena is that they’ll last five days with the preparation work and clean-up afterwards and we’ve been told to expect three days of full work on the ground. But on the Portuguese side at least there’s wishful thinking this could all be done in one day.
We would love to be proved wrong and see a significant discovery because it’s what we’ve all been working towards for so many years. But the area that’s going to be turned upside down this week has already been searched by Portuguese officers.

I think it's the last throw of the dice.

By September, the prosecutor's office will have to provide sufficient evidence in the case of Maddie McCann, who has been missing for 18 years, if she wants to accuse the main suspect. Otherwise Christian Brückner (48) could be released in autumn. Brückner is still in prison for another act – and is looking forward to his release there, as he now told an RTL reporter.

Brückner received this in a visiting room in the JVA Sehnde in Lower Saxony. To the Maddie case he said no word on the advice of his lawyer. Instead, he complained that he was in the prison had been attacked: a prisoner had broken a rib for him. He also claimed that he had lost his facial expressions – because he spoke so rarely.

For Maddie's parents, Kate and Gerry (both 57), these statements have to be difficult to bear. On the 12th May Maddie would have been 22 years old. The girl was three years old when she May 2007 on vacation in Portugal in Praia da Luz disappeared.

Maddie was with her younger twin siblings Sean and Amelie alone in the apartmentwhile the parents ate with friends in a nearby restaurant. At 10 p.m. they found: Maddie is gone!

And the girl remains gone. 2020 explains the Prosecutor Braunschweig that she suspected Christian Brückner of killing Maddie. The criminal sex offender has been detained for rape of an American since 2019.

After discharge, he wants to go into hiding

This sentence is expected to end in mid-September. Brückner told the RTL reporter that he had to go into hiding after his release because he was known to be a colorful dog. He is most looking forward to a beer and a steak.

Whether it comes to this now depends on the investigation. To secure possible new evidence, the police have one large search action started. The search area lies between the Ocean Club, from which the girl disappeared in 2007, and a finca in which Brückner lived shortly before the crime. The search takes place on the initiative of Federal Criminal Police Office instead, the Portuguese police support the German colleagues.

It is the first police operation in Portugal since May 2023 when Investigators at a reservoir in the Algarve were looking for clues. Photos show that the suspect had been there more often at the time of Maddie's disappearance. The search at the reservoir was unsuccessful.

The public prosecutor is under pressure: Because for an indictment Murder the previous evidence is not sufficient from – further knowledge is required.

Much will depend upon what, if anything, is found. Failure to link with CB won't help the BKA case at all.

When I came across an article about the suspect the other day I decided to watch the Netflix documentary. Mostly just to see if any of it matched what I was reading. The doc dropped in 2019 and the article said he came onto the radar in 2020. The doc throws a lot of people and theories at you, probably they all do, but out of all 8 episodes only one thing stuck. They mentioned two people, I believe one was a 12 year old girl, who saw a skinny blonde man with a severely pockmarked face.

The docu severely misrepresented the 12yo statement. The girl said clearly the man she saw had no scars whatsoever.

I doubt it. I may be cynical, but too many Met cops have turned this into an annual jolly in the sun for them to give it up without a fight.
The MET aren't out there this time.

Don't know if the timing is on purpose, 5 yrs to the date of declaring the prime suspect.

Recently added line I hadn’t read elsewhere today added on the 1:30pm update on link above.

  • According to reports, One police theory is that Madeleine's pyjamas might have been dumped in trenches near the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz where her family were staying in May 2007

I wonder why they should think that ?
I'd have thought that any predator would want to be well away from the scene as soon as possible, not stopping en route to dump potential evidence.
