I have another question for those knowing planes technical devices etc.

In the CNN news edition, they have said that the emergency beacon that goes off when it hits water did not go off either.

I gather they know this because no data to say it went off was sent to Rolls Royce....

Does anyone know what this beacon is?? what it does?? and could it be switched off??

In regards to 1, they seemed to follow some relaxed rules in regards to allowing people in lol. Even if they did, if the FAs realized something was amiss and needed to get in, they should know where the hidden axe is, right? I'm not sure though - I am just guessing they would know.

2 I think is possible but at the same time you would think at least someone on the plane would have noticed the pilot had failed to speak for awhile. Maybe they were sleeping though? I wonder if the FAs would have noticed the drop and failure to get back up?

Or maybe the hijackers had already subdued the passengers and flight attendants prior to entering the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 pit, if they ever did enter it. Maybe someone in the cockpit was also involved.

One theory suggest he's part of the Chinese terrorist group that was behind the stabbings in China not that long ago.

The "Black Box" which is orange btw- has a beacon that is activated by salt water

ETA: rules state an emergency beacon must be placed in at least one life raft too

Is it possible that the plane landed somewhere, refueled, and took off again in the time between when it went missing and when the actual physical search started? Or even after since they may have been searching in the wrong places?

Oh wow... Another idea that would throw much more confusion into the mix...

Fox news just showed the updated radius map on when the plane could have gone. I believe one of the newest radius maps is also the one Kimi kindly resized for us a few posts ago.

Also-

One pilot could not both fly the plane and go pull the ACARS breaker which is below-deck, below the gally (and not easy to quickly get to) per a 777 pilot just on CNN

The ACARS was turned off first, is that correct? 13 minutes before the transponder was turned off?

CNN is saying that after looking at all of the evidence today US officials now think that the plane was purposefully flown out over the indian ocean and crashed.

Not really. I've been watching for a couple hours and they have multiple experts with multiple theories. No consensus. For example, Bill Nye seems to think the original search area wasn't searched well enough and seems skeptical about actual data showing the plane was in the Indian Ocean.

I don't believe it was suicidal either. For now. :scared:

There should be no reason a 777 cannot be located is shallow salt water or be a fire somewhere if in the jungle.

And, where is the black box?

Im not sure what is meant by shallow salt water. The ocean is vast. Incredibly, incredibly huge. And the depth of the Indian Ocean is super deep. Miles deep.

so there is no reason we can think of that would make a pilot purposefully tur off a trams ponder in flight except in a situation where you are preparing to land and another plane is near to you? I understand WHY pilots have a means of putting the thing on standby or turning it off so to speak, but why would a pilot do that in flight?

Are there any other reasons we can think of for that to be done with purpose?

Do they explain WHY this is a needed thing

I quoted a quote a couple times that shows there are other reasons for turning it off, such as it is not operating correctly.

could the people hijacking the plane want to use it for "reverse engineering " purposes...(I hope that is the term)...

they may want to learn how to create their own system of target... If not the whole plane itself?

The pilots on the aviation forums keep tossing this theory around. Some feel this may be a purpose....

Can this beacon be deactivated?

If not ... then this means we have 2 possibilities:
1) The plane crashed on land.
or
2) Some terrorist group actually managed to not only pull off a successful hijacking but to evade detection for almost a week.

Ladies and gentlemen, I hope to God it's the first possibility and not the second. The idea that a terrorist group managed to pull something like this off frightens the heck out of me.

Could the pilots have been trying to turn back when they ran out of oxygen, leaving the aircraft to drift westward?

“That’s also unlikely,” said Gleave. “The very first thing you would do is get your oxygen masks on and then descend as quickly as possible. You would only start making turns once you had got down to a lower altitude. And that descent would be picked up on the civilian radar.”

One thing I found interesting is that on the Silk Air flight where the pilot committed suicide he pulled the circuit breaker while the air traffic control was being changed from one country to another.....

Now I know why they have been interviewing the pilots family.........

Their final words were "All right, good night". So, it's possible there are quite literally going to sleep since it was a red eye flight.

Falling asleep at the wheel is deadly.

Accidents are called accidents for a reason.

Still does not explain where MH370 is.

For it to be a too late situation, the plane would have had to drastically and quickly lose altitude, with no time for the polite to repond to the blaring alarms and warning lights. What could have happened that was that catastrophic yet would have left the plane mechanically sound enough to continue flying for four more hours? How do you account for the 13 minutes between the time the two communication systems being shut off?

Sorry, I posted this post before reading other current posts.
