Maybe somebody can help. I've been trying to find information about Patrick Darling that Jason and Ryan bought the Arete Way property from. Anybody know anything about him? Just curious.

A breath of fresh air if I do say so myself!!!!

I totally agree! Sorry, no dancing beer mugs. Now if someone would just invite them to join us here.....

If it has no bearing on who committed the crime , then why would anyone here be interested in this person ? No disrespect intended, but isn't this something you could find out from the husband or are all conversations and questions off limits ?

TIA

Very sad story in today's news. Two years after his wife's murder, a man is still considered a suspect by LE. I hope for a better outcome for Jason, Cassie, and Michelle.

You're probably right about no bearing. But who knows? It's just a name.

The next time I have a chance, I will ask Jason.

Nope. Not trying to convict anyone. Alternate theory? How many have I given you so far? Let me count the ways....

Turn loose of your tunnel vision and give it a try.

--Jake

Good Morning Jake, I simply can not see including a thought so provoking as that from Elizabeth Barrett Brownings sonnet "How do I love thee, Let me count the ways . . .and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death".

If Michelle had such a Love in her life that could prompt such passion and hold her in its grips, surely we would have heard some inkling of this.

In 6 months nothing has surfaced to tell of any infidelity on her part, and in fact we have heard rumors of trouble in the marriage and possible divorce due in part to his infidelity.

To include that thought therefore does not work in trying to escape 'tunnel vision' on the part of the sleuther! Scandi

Hi Anuniaq! I wanted to welcome you to our board. I thought it was interesting to learn yesterday from Barney that there is a general consensus of thought among the clerks of Wake County that the killer was a he.

I also have a hard time seeing Michelle facing her killer head on as the wounds don't seem to match that. I have read from an esteemed teacher in this field of forensics and criminology that it is quite likely that first blow came while the killer was behind her, clocking her in the mouth to stun her.

I'm truly sorry if I have offended you. I think, to be fair to Jason, I will consider any and all theories. I hope LE will do the same.

You, of course, are free to reject any theories.

"...general consensus of thought..."?? I believe it was ONE clerk who expressed his opinion. Notice I have used the generic "his" rather than the awkward "his or her". Perhaps the clerk did the same?

You didn't offend me Jake. I just think if you are going to include a theory there has to be some evidence to warrant its inclusion.

To pull a thought out of the air and then look for evidence to include it seems a backwards way to try and solve a crime. Now looking at others who were in either JY or MY's circle of influence, that is one of the first things LE does in analyzing a crime. Scandi

That could well be Jake. I usually use 'they' to cover that base. I always did better in math than english! LOL

By the way, I object to the awkward he/she construction. Being old- fashioned, I still sometimes use "he" as generic for male or female. Hope I don't offend anyone.

--Jake

I do that as well, no offense taken.

It's good that you've tried to see all possibilities, especially that you are allowing yourself to at least consider that JY did it. I found this case a few months after it happened and because of ties to the area, I grew up in NC and went to NCSU about 10 years before MY and JY, and the obvious tragedy of it all it captured my attention. I wasn't around for the initial raw emotion and the immediate reaction.

I have read all of the theories, studied the warrants and autopsy, looked at time lines, etc. At least for me, I cannot say definitively that no other evidence will ever come out that points to someone else. However, currently, I just don't see any of the evidence we know so far (limited as it is) pointing in any direction except Brevard.

I know you've been asked this many different ways, but not for a while that I've seen. Are there a specific one or two details that are still the big questions in your mind?

TIA

IMO

Thanks for the welcome, I've been lurking for quite a while. I hadn't seen that theory in detail. I can't quite picture it... how do you hit someone in the mouth from behind?

BUT...when we have NO evidence, what else can we do? Let's post theories.

I know. Many people do that. But to use the plural "they" to refer to a singular person just grates on me.

I believe there is tons and tons of Circumstantial Evidence. I wish we knew what Physical or Forensic Evidence LE has.

Very sorry for your loss Jake.

I can't grasp the idea of little Cassie and the dog being alone until 1:30 pm without leaving traces in blood all over the house. Someone was caring for her. Who?

Thanks for your kind thought.

I should have included CE in my statement about no evidence.

If they did come here, they wouldn't last a day imo. But don't worry they'll just create another nic over at CTV and everything will be back to abnormal.
