They knew what they were doing...... If they go with the mentally insane defense thet will have a hard time with that given they tried to kill their mother earlier in the week by running her over.

I suspect they will be tried as adults (as they should).
The oldest is being tried as an adult. Youngest is not, per what I read in news. She is in Juvenile Hall.

Is anyone well versed in the difference between a sociopath & a psychopath? I've been reading about it, and it doesn't help that I can figure out Ted Bundy was a psychopath. What about these girls? I said sociopath, but now I am not sure. And insanity is not an option, IMHO.

Google is my friend. :) Both are types of antisocial personality disorder (APD). It’s said that psychopaths are born and sociopaths are made. The first article below says that neither can be diagnosed in children.

Here are a couple of explanations:

I had thought that maybe it was an abuse situation and the children were reacting. But the aunt's comment that the girls were giggly when they denied it seems to rule that out.

I can't imagine what could go so wrong with such young siblings to commit such a terrible attack.

I didn't read that they were giggly

I didn't read that they were giggly

Here’s the quote, but I think the OP misread the aunt’s name as “Tee hee” and assumed they were giggling:

'The girls, when I drove up, they were like: "Tee Tee we didn’t do this." And I was like: "OK, if y'all didn't do it, where were y'all when the people that was doing it did it?"'

In the slender man case:

"Three psychologists agreed that the two girls the delusion that the internet character Slender Man would kill them or their families if they didn’t kill their sixth-grade classmate. Geyser and Weier were both initially charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide
In the slender man case:

"Three psychologists agreed that the two girls shared the delusion that the internet character Slender Man would kill them or their families if they didn’t kill their sixth-grade classmate. Geyser and Weier were both initially charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide in the attack on their friend, Payton Leutner."

So the 'slender man' girls were initially charged with attempted murder. During the course of the trial, they were found to be legally insane and were then sent to a mental hospital.

If these two sisters are found to be legally insane, they will also be sent to a hospital. But I am not sure they fit that category. Killing a parent for taking away your phone, is not technically insane or delusional.

And I don't think it matters that they live in a trailer park or are a minority. I don't think either of those things are to blame for their anger towards their mother. JMO
U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts: Pike County, Mississippi
They’re not a minority here. Pike County is over 50% black. Their trailer was more than likely a rental-between 2 pastures on a road with houses and other well kept trailers.
I don’t know what went on in their lives but their mom worked at a poultry plant many years to provide for her kids and was obviously a hard worker. Her daughters tried to run over her with her own car the week they eventually killed her. She couldn’t pressed charges but she didn’t want them in jail. They could’ve been abused but to me it sounds like they were just mean and taking their phones was the last straw.

mccomb, mississippi is also my hometown. :) i haven't lived there in 30 years, but grew up there until i graduated high school. my whole family is there. never dreamed i'd ever see something show up on websleuths about it. it's a quiet, quaint little town, especially magnolia, where this took place, although crime has gone up considerably (especially after katrina) over the last 10-15 years, according to my mom and what i see friends posting on fb, as well as what i read on local news. mental health care (or should i say lack thereof) is considerably hard to find, whether you have money or not, in pike county. it's there, but i can't say (from experience) that it's the best, and it's certainly not inexpensive, which is a damn crime, in my opinion. i can't fathom what would bring 2 young kids to a point of murdering a parent, but i like to think there just has to be more to it than just being "bratty." i'll eagerly await more details about this case. thanks for posting, and rip ms. ericka. terrible case for all involved, and it's shocking to read when it hits your hometown.

I’m guessing father of girls not around? Teenage girls can be quite a handful, but to kill your mother?

A teenage defendant in Mississippi wants the location of her pending February murder trial changed.

Amariyona Hall’s defense team said the location of the trial should be shifted away from Pike County because jurors there would be prejudiced against her because of the publicity the murder received.
