Nancy Grace has twins early

I watch NG religiously and I couldn't be happier for her and her Hubby and the twins seem to be doing fine. Nancy has been glowing on her show the last few months. She will be a great Mom and 48 isn't to old. I am Praying the twins will be healthy! Nancy has found happiness at last CONGRATS NANCY & David !:woohoo: :woohoo:

My daughter got pregnant naturally at age 42, lost the baby at 9 weeks, then got pregnant again, again naturally, 8 weeks later. Carried the baby to term and he is a healthy, perfec little smiley guy! She's said that's it though - she doesn't want to push her luck.

For all we read and hear about how difficult it is to become pregnant after age 40, just among those of us who post here, there seems to be a high proportion of over 40 pregnancies!

Also, I had an aunt who had her first and only child at age 41 - and that was long before IVF.

Almost forgot: Nancy has a baby blog. Go to www.cnn.com/nancygrace and click onto Nancy's blog

Sounds like that baby was meant to be!! :)

God seems to have known what he was doing when He gave kids to young folks.

On the other hand, older parents have more sense, if not more patience. Sometimes less patience is a good thing :)

Most of the atrosities regarding mistreatment of little ones comes from parents too young and stupid to be parents.

Just my opinion.

Nancy Grace Hospitalized
Exclusive: TVNewser has learned that Headline News anchor Nancy Grace is in the hospital following complications from her pregnancy. Grace delivered twins last Sunday. Headline News spokesperson Janine Iamunno tells TVNewser Grace "started experiencing discomfort, and was having trouble breathing, on her way to church" on Sunday. "She was brought to the emergency room in Atlanta. Her doctors found two blood clots in her lungs, which occurred as a result of the pregnancy." Grace is recovering in the hospital where she is expected to stay for the rest of the week. We're told the health of the twins, Lucy Elizabeth and John David, is good. Iamunno tells us, Grace "thanks everyone for their continued prayers and support."

Prayers to Nancy that she has a quick and full recovery.

I just have had this feeling that something was going to go wrong with Nancy.. When she did the video of the nursery, I cried, which isn't like me at all.
I had this sense of sadness.

My prayers are certainly with Nancy, David and her 2 little miracles!!

Is that the same thing as a pulmonary embolism? If so, she's lucky to be alive. I know of two stories where mothers have died after the delivery due to this.

TG she made it to the hospital and they figured it out in time!

Prayers for all of them to be home together safe and sound very soon.

That is weird. One update says she is in the hospital and will be there all week, and the other one from yesterday doesn't even mention it.

Hmm..

Angelmom, I went back just now and looked at that. I think the cnn page is the date it was put on the site, not necessarily the date Nancy wrote it, which could have been a day to two before.

I hope she will be alright. Hope she is in the same hospital as the babies.

Apparently she went to the hospital on Sunday, Nov. 11, after experiencing trouble breathing on her way to church. The blog was entered on Nov. 12. I think Nancy is trying to keep the focus on her babies instead of on her. I am sure she realizes the seriousness of this complication , but she is in good hands. My prayers are with her.

I had read this news too about Nancy this afternoon. Was very saddened by it, I pray Nancy will be healthy again. Get well soon Nancy!! So wonderful that she had twins, how exciting for her.

I can't find much of an update on Nancy's condition.
Was anything mentioned on her show tonight?
I was unable to watch and forgot to TiVO.

CNN.com says she might go home by the end of the week. Hmmm.
I hope she has a private nurse for a while, and full time help when the babies come home. I'm worried about her.

Her health troubles were not mentioned by Mike Brooks (guest host) on her show last night. They just showed the same thing they've been showing since the babies were born.

Thank you, Kato.
I deeply respect her privacy, of course, but Nancy has shared so much of her baby journey with us. I am concerned about her and the babies. I don't know that she has even been able to hold the little girl yet due to her tiny size. Now the blood clots.

Yes, blood clots in the lung is a pulmonary embolism and yes it is dangerous and can in some cases be very quickly fatal. They would have immediately have put her on blood thinners, may have tried using some clot-buster type medication that is used when people have a stroke.

I have a relative who had a clot in her leg which broke loose and traveled to her lung. Shortness of breath was her main symptom - she had no pain and they said that was unusual, that usually the patient feels pain in the chest.

My relative has been on blood thinners ever since this happened seven years ago. They did not try to do anything about the clots, as it was several DAYS before she even went to the doctor! So the clots are still in there.

She gets short of breath upon exertion ever since this happened. But she is quite elderly and maybe there are different treatments for younger people, I don't know.

Has anyone heard any updates on Nancy's condition? I read her blog and she talks about the babies doing well, but says nothing about herself.

Answering my own question, I googled and found this:
"Nancy Grace 'Torn Up' About Hospitalized Twins
MONDAY NOVEMBER 19, 2007 08:40 PM EST

By Diane Clehane

While Nancy Grace recovers at home from pregnancy complications, the Headline News anchor tells PEOPLE she's "totally torn up" that her twins are still hospitalized and will likely remain so "for several weeks."

"It's just killing me leaving them there," says Grace, 48, who was released from an Atlanta hospital last Thursday after being treated for pulmonary edema and blood clots in her lungs she developed during pregnancy.

Grace says she is spending "pretty much all my time" at the hospital so she can be with son John David and daughter Lucy Elizabeth, who were born Nov. 4. The twins, who have "golden blonde hair and greenish blue eyes," are sleeping in the same bassinet.

John David, who "just passed the five-pound mark," says Grace, will likely come home before his sister, Lucy Elizabeth, who now tips the scales at 3 lbs, 6 oz. Grace hopes to return home to New York by early December but says, "It all depends on when Lucy can travel."

Grace is recovering slowly from the dangerous medical conditions she developed during her pregnancy. She had difficulty walking and suffered from severe shortness of breath for a month before her C-section delivery.

"I had to take a wheelchair back and forth to the studio." she says. "My legs were horribly swollen. I could not breathe. I didn't realize my body was filling up with fluid and I was developing blood clots to the lungs."

Currently on anti-coagulants, Grace says she'll be on medication "for the long term," because, she says, "I want to be here to raise John David and Lucy Elizabeth."

The part about "being on medication for the long term" means she will be taking Coumadin (generic: warfarin), a blood thinner, for the rest of her life. And you have to get regular blood tests done to check on the blood level of the medication.

John David is/was home for Thanksgiving!

So happy for them! They have a lot to be thankful for!!!

Unusual that the boy would be ready to come home first. Usually girls are stronger preemies. I hope Lucy will be home soon.

Also, there is a pretty big gap in their birth weights. Have there been any reports of Twin to Twin Transfusion???

Prayers continuing for the whole family.
