My theory only, the origin of this is south of our border. It’s a demonstration of wingspan. How far they can reach and touch. The detainee is likely a low-level guy.
The Mexican Cartel's would never want the attention of a case like this in the USA to demonstrate anything.

Anyone wonder if this was a ransom situation, but it didn’t go as planned? Maybe she passed away due to injuries or heart attack after leaving the home with the perp/perps. If this happened, it would be hard to utilize her as they intended. They may need to just cover up their tracks and dispose of the body.

I think the ransom notes are bogus and not legitimate. You don’t wait 3 days, with an 84 year old woman to care for, to request a ransom amount. Something doesn’t add up…
Yeah. 😔 I know a lot of people here wondered about this. If this individual did do it, I’d assume it was for the ransom angle. And it’s entirely possible Nancy passed away early on from shock or otherwise.

My question would be, if so, who was he working with? Or what was his plan? He surely didn’t intend to bring Nancy back to his small house with 7 other people living in it.

If he did do this and the situation did pan out this way, I just hope he has the decency to admit what he did with her. 💔

Carlos just doing an interview on a live stream.... Been released. Wow.

Like I said earlier something didn't feel right about him being the guy to me...

Well then. I really want to know what the probable cause was in that search warrant now.

A bunch of media just interviewed the guy, including Univision. I'm sure if there isn't already there will be videos of the interview coming out shortly.

So, I guess they are back to square 1, because the guy is no longer detained and the media interviewed him at his house.

How very disappointing.

Well, we'll watch the interviews.

No, that was the probable cause in a different case 😂 /s

That being said this is like what the 3rd time in the last couple months of a wrong person of interest being detained with their name being released (albeit this time the MIL kinda doxed that ha)

Dang. I was so hopeful. After his MIL was interviewed, I also didn’t think they had the right guy. Seeing the interview, he’s very clearly not the guy on camera.

What even led them to arrest and settle upon this guy if he wasn’t involved?!

They’re not at square one, they do still have footage of whoever *actually* did this, but this mistaken arrest was so heavily reported. Probably gave the Guthrie family false hope, and also served to take attention away from the actual perpetrator, whoever or wherever they may be.

Poor guy and rough for his whole family and interviewed MIL too…

And Nancy is no closer to being found. 😭

What a very scary experience for Carlos and his family. Wow.

MOO

This is utterly bizarre. Pretty much every component of this case to date. Just bonkers.

JMO.

I am having a difficult time thinking this was a random bitcoin ransom kidnapping. I know of at least 2 people who were scammed or almost scammed out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in bitcoin scams online. Two of those received very threatening phone calls, both elderly victims. I say that to say the bitcoin scammers are making big time money from likely far off locations from their victims. So why kidnap an 84 year old woman for a bitcoin ransom? Hypothetical question, not actually looking for answers.
In my opinion this ransom thing just doesn't make sense but could be possible

She changed her story significantly. The first video (posted up thread) she says she told them to search her house because they have nothing to hide. This latest video she flips the script and says they entered without a warrant, she told them they can't do it without a warrant but they insisted they don't need a warrant. Sketchy behavior IMO. She may just be changing her story to try to sue LE later or something stupid like that. Hard to say at this point but she was definitely caught in a big lie there.
She may not speak English as her first language. It is easy for a bi-lingual individual to become confused when confronted by rapid-fire questioning when under stress.

I note that the son-in-law and his wife take the children with them when they are delivering for Door dash.
