My own impression of the video, at least the clip where the perp is walking back with the lantana, was that it was cut off by LE at a specific point as he began to walk back toward the camera.

Methinks there's something significant caught on camera that LE doesn't want out in the public domain.

JMO.
I think it's largely possible that LE has other video from other areas, that shows potentially disturbing and sensitive or violent content. They'd never show that to the public. They would have chosen the doorbell camera because his 'face' was closest to it and the sole reason was for ID. JMO

Have not thought of this! I’ve been trying to put my finger on his general demeanor approaching the entry. No hurry or anxiety. Reluctance seems to fit.

Oh, my. This hasn't crossed my mind, but it could be a possibility. How so very sad!

It’s battery for sure. You can see it’s not hardwired.
Then it recorded for as long as the battery held up, and you're right--they have more video. I hope it's better than my inner pocket or countertop.
Do you suppose the image/person that LE said was captured "from a camera" at 2:12 was from the disconnected doorbell camera?

Does anyone know if it was wired, or battery operated? If battery operated, it would definitely continue recording until the battery was removed.
I know this because I've some lovely video of my inner jacket pocket and kitchen countertop.
There doesn't appear to be a wire in the closeup images I've seen JMO

<Modsnip: Quoted Post removed>

The mask is off-center. I think that may make the two eyes look a little different. I though they might a asymmetrical but changed my mind. (Image cropped only)

A news anchor on the National News Desk newscast tonight mentioned that there are online speculation concerning cartel involvement in the Nancy Guthrie case.

A former Pima County Sheriff's Department lieutenant said that was a possibility but described it as far-fetched.

I also found this interesting February 2022 press release from the FBI El Paso Field Office concerning kidnapping extortion calls.

The February 2022 press release mentions that when a kidnapping extortion call is made, the ransom money is only accepted by wire transfer, crypto currency, or Peer 2 Peer payment apps.

Give me some grace here fam, but what if the perp is wearing a celebrity mask under the ski mask? In this hypothetical situation, we may only have biometrics. Eyes and such.

My sense is that it's not, and there is another camera. We have heard rumors of two, and I've gotta believe that's accurate.

I half expected them to release video from that camera today, as they are surely doing the same thing they did with the doorbell video recovery.

It may not be as helpful though, or it might give something away that they don't want out there.

I’m also thinking about how the perp enticed Nancy to open the door.

Was Nancy a sleepwalker?<Modsnip>
The perp wouldn't have to entice her to the door. The perp broke into her home! My thinking is the perp went straight away into her bedroom. I have also read in several articles that she wore a hearing aid. Most people take off their hearing aids at night. I cannot imagine how terrifying it would be to wake up and see a man wearing a mask, gloves, and hovering over you in the middle of the night. Absolutely terrifying!

What was his intent at that front door? I didn’t see any sign of forced entry there. He slowly walked up, with his head down, realized there was a camera, and went back and grabbed lantana to block the camera. I am assuming he removed it then. What happened next? Did he walk around and find another way in, or was someone else working on that? It was I think 20 minutes before a camera detected someone inside. Was he trying to get in the front, or was he just waiting at the front for someone to come out that front door?
Maybe waiting for someone to open the front door to let him in? We’ve heard the back slider was wide open when the family got there Sunday midday. Could be the person on the camera came in to assist with a vehicle and the other person may have walked into the area through the washes.

Just spitballing here, all MOO.

Also, if the rumored second camera isn’t a Nest, it may also require a slightly different process to recover the footage from the backend system.

How common is burglary in Tucson, and how common are home invasions?

The camera can also record audio so it is possible there is audio of the conversation between the perp or perps and NG as they got in their vehicle (or her vehicle) and were still within WIFI range. Probably not the smartest move to take the camera which essentially becomes a tracking/bugging device!

I think it is a Nest because it appears to be on the same system (no video, no subscription), just like the first.

Mods, am I allowed to post a screenshot of something posted on the Ring app locally in Tucson? It’s regarding this case and just has to do with neighbors checking camera footage.
I think what you want to post might already be posted a few spots above you.

Concerning the tyre tracks found on the drive - could Nancy have used a “granny trolley” after she’d come home from the supermarket?

I'm glad you posted this. Those tire tracks have bothered me since day one. I have watched too many things concerning this case and have not seen those tire tracks ever mentioned. I first thought possible wheel barrow but I think there would be a third tire track. Then I thought wagon or wheel chair. I finally am convinced those tracks were made by a wheeled trashcan and could be how she was removed from the house. I keep wondering if she is being held nearby and never put in car?
