the facial hair under the mask looked painted on, possibly tatooed not like real facial hair at all. mOO
Do some men actually tattoo facial hair on their faces? As a regular thing?

Maybe, wanted to get away with a crime, or needed NG gone for some reason , not financial.

Is the land valuable in that area? Does someone want the land and the residents don't want to sell? Something like that.

Ok. I am 100% behind the entire Guthrie family. I have always been. I never thought they were POI etc. The world isnt poised to see if and when she comes back to NBC. There's a perp on the loose. At its core this is a family tragedy.

That being said, Why is this news? Why is this publicized? Why let the perp know where SG is? Trying to see if the perp followed her to NY? The perp is a dangerous person. Ask yourself what is to be gained by making SG's visit to NBC a publicity moment? NOT being critical. I am wondering about motivation. If there is any. There's nothing newsworthy in what was revealed. IMO JMO
Your concern is the same as mine. Lots of public interest but it should be tempered with safety.

I wonder if the security around SG and her close family is enough. Are they trying to be stealth enough to detect out of character fans.

I would think most fans are genuinely friendly and mean no harm but then there’s the creepy ones, over zealous, dangerous, etc. It’s not like they can put anyone other than SG out there as a target to draw out the perp. Almost like it’s a calculated risk. They don’t let anyone near her, of course but they watch the cameras in the area to see if anyone peaks their interest.

Just thinking. JMO.

Maybe SG wants the perp to see he is not destroying her or her career. She will continue with her life when she is ready. ???

Well then the female theory sounds like a non starter. A couple of us were just playing around with the idea. It explained some of the facts.
I definitely could see the perp being a male wearing heavy disguise. Multiple masks, fake mustache or goatee, gloves and extra body padding. Maybe that's why he seemed to have some trouble bending down to scoop the lantana up.

I just get the feeling he was 'playing to the camera'. Does anyone else think that? Standing there without the backpack in the shadows in one image looking so menacing, and from the vid clip...walking up from the sidewalk with almost a swagger, the c r o t c h gun holster. WTH? Making an overly showy scene for someone who is there to rob and kidnap, typically stealth and discretion would be key here IMO. IDK, I've overthought this whole scenario way too much.

I was just watching BE latest utube post interviewing a sergeant from the Tucson PD. They touched on the theories of one suspect being able to commit the crime, as well as whether or not if NG passed at the house, would the suspect have removed the body. I’ve been thinking about something further, especially in light of there being no immediate response to the 1M reward. If there was only one perpetrator, what if something happened to them after they successfully removed NG and held her somewhere else? What if they passed? Car accident, sudden MI? Or even 2 perps in an accident, or an argument between them about next steps that led to their deaths. Or what if they were arrested for another matter?

Because the abduction seems to be so out of line with “usual” kidnappings for ransom, that holding someone (especially with health conditions) for this long is reportedly very difficult, and the fact that no one has come forward, really makes me consider that something bizarre and not even on the list of hypotheticals has happened.

Moo NG could have been held and her abductor(s) involuntarily abandoned her. Maybe LE should look closely at other people who have been reported missing, recently incarcerated and/or deceased John Does found since 2/1.
Yes I think this is a possibility. Perp thought he was clever by hiding the body in a remote location, perhaps inaccessible type location which did him in. Or two perps and one eliminates any leaks from the other one.

Just observed and read this CBS article stating that they arrested someone earlier today that perhaps murdered 3 women, one of them in their 80’s.
No idea if this is relevant to the NG case. Certainly local Tucson Law Enforcement is aware of these crimes.
The Utah investigators traced the suspect through Arizona, Colorado and Utah.

I just dont understand why people make fun of the clothes he wore. Is there Kidnapper Couture? He selected common, nondescript garments that can be purchased in various locations perhaps to avoid being detected. What does a sophisticated criminal wear? JMO
This is a good question. What would a sophisticated, experienced criminal wear to a crime scene?

  • #42,509
I have thought this on other cases—esp on the Brian Kohberger threads before they got him! IMO that one seemed made-for-true-crime-TV from the start.
But this one I am clueless what the perp is like. Is it someone who is excited by the idea of getting away with a crime or someone who had a financial reason to take Nancy Guthrie or what????
If he is the one who sent the communications to the TV station, then he loves attention and wants to be a celebrity?

I mean…. he (she/they) continues to elude local LE and the FBI, so.

Not sure i’d be calling this person unsophisticated.
I agree. Every day that goes by with no arrest, no body, etc., tells us that this man has some experience or is quite sophisticated. It cannot all be luck.

I get that, but I also remind myself even normal things are going to look weird on night vision/ infrared. so then I'm not sure, and ockham nudges me back to "just real facial hair".

'Once you start going off on tangents and intricate ideas, you may be going astray.' I think a lot of this has been happening, but because there is a 'vacuum' regarding actual facts, peoples minds are 'running riot', on overdrive.
Exactly. In research when there are brick walls, no progress, dead ends, it is time to go back to the basic data and take another fresh look at it. Or gather more data.

Yes. This is the point I was making a few days ago when I said he wasn't shopping for bad guy gear at the Super Villian Store. He (they) are hiding in plain sight.

Yes I am not thinking a celebrity or star. Though maybe a wannabe associated in a minor way with the industry. But someone familiar with costumes, make-up, staging/directing a show, timing, props, etc.

I did not realize that others had thought about a show business flair in Lantana Man.
I said that wrong, conflating the cosplay feeling people get with show business flair.

Same - I could see this if it was suspected that the kidnapping was related to SG in some way. There is so much more information they have that we don't know about. Every move SG & family is making right now is being highly advised and scrutinized by FBI/LE.

They are not going to let her casually stroll into the NBC studio's without a plan and protection.

In my opinion that's the worst thing she can convey. She's playing to the perp? Article says she will return at some point bla bla. Gives a stalker-type hope. I will see her againI On the outside chance NG is still alive and being held in a seasonal cottage somewhere with little traffic and diminished population due to it being winter, for example, he will hold on to NG. Even if NG has passed, he can look forward to daily communion with SG.

Article about SG stopping in to NBC and saying she will be back eventually was not newsworthy. However, it was information to perp about where she is at the moment. I think that was foolish. JMO

What evidence has made you think about this Veronica?

No evidence that I've seen yet. Just a hunch, which is why I need to put extra emphasis on "MOO, IMO, JMO..."

Yes but all the fake stuff pulls me to consider fake hair too. Double masks, layers of clothing, double gloves. Designed to fake us out.

The end goal of parsimony (Occam's Razor) is not just simplicity, but simplicity that links all the data and is in context of other evidence.

Did Nancy Guthrie's abductor return to the crime scene?

Law enforcement expert warns Nancy Guthrie's abductor could return to crime scene as tribute continues drawing visitors

"Potentially, that is the type of person that could come back to the memorial, look at the memorial, even take photos of the memorial and add to the memorial themselves."

"But it's also not untypical in a homicide case or, in this case, a missing person," she continued. "We've got to look at the psychology of people who do this kind of stuff. They also may want to come back to see what kind of people are leaving notes and leaving flowers."

For that reason, she said, investigators should be reading the notes to develop potential leads.

I assume LE has video cameras going at all times?

I read this earlier and did wonder. Crazier things have happened on these threads. JMO
