Today Brian Entin on Megyn Kelly. The Sheriff's office sounds inexperienced:
MK: Here's what I want to know. Um I want to know whether anybody's been asked to give and or has given a polygraph. Not a peep about that. Is that correct? No one's saying a word.

BE: Not a word. I interviewed yesterday uh a former homicide detective for Pima County uh who was there for 20 years and is now retired. And it's interesting what you were reporting in the beginning of your show. I mean, he says the same exact thing that the there's been so much turnover there that it's a mess at the sheriff's office. Uh and that most of the homicide detectives have like two years experience. And so he's concerned a lot of the veterans like him have left just because they've been upset with the with the department for different reasons. and there was a different sheriff and then another sheriff came back and it's it's been a mess there. Uh but he was telling me that in his 20 years there he never they never once administered a polygraph. That wasn't something that they did as a sheriff's office ever, not even once. But I, yeah, I know.

About the 4:10 mark:

snipped (from former Pima County homicide detective that worked there for 20 years):

If there was anything to actually point to a suspect or evidence LE would get a search warrant regardless to head off any Defense calm later on.
We don't know that LE didn't get a search warrant. they likely did. They ALSO may have asked for, and received, permission. Belt and suspenders approach, and also to see if the party will consent. That may tell you something. Just my opinions, fwiw.

That isn't proof of life though? NG could have told them that a week ago and no longer be around? It's the classic "hold up a copy of today's newspaper" solution I think, or maybe they send a video of Nancy watching SG's latest video?
With AI any video can be fake?

Good points made here about this whole kidnapping thing, being suspicious.

I heard a comment over the weekend, can't remember who said it ... but with all of the 'experts' in everything coming out of the woodwork and especially with retired ones... I keep hearing it in my head...

Old crimes are being committed in new ways

I am not sure that the norm applies here.

Good points about the process, but some of his more definitive statements are better characterized as assumptions and some of his general understanding perhaps antiquated. I agree that any kidnapping, if it occurred, isn't about ransom in this case. I think if one occurred it is more likely due to a prolonged fixation on SG, perhaps for years, and that this is a perp's triggered reaction to something (probably unrelated), and he/she seeks to regain control by punishing SG for some deluded slight or (name your narcissistic injury).

Yes, her response would have to be immediate, but yeah, they could still kill her. But at least you could deposit money knowing she was alive when you asked 12 hours

JMO, the previous video from SG and family pretty directly addressed the perps. If she wanted to address them again in this one, I think she would have been similarly direct, if not more so. I have a hard time reading anything she said in the most recent video as a message to them.
Just watched the new video. This was a new Savannah that is more clear and resolve about what needs to be done. She's over the initial shock and is no longer at the mental mercy of kidnappers. She's asking for public help and shes not talking to kidnappers anymore. She's come to terms with the situation and hopes to get her mom back, but realizes she may not. This is a Savannah not under the control of a kidnapper or fake ransom letter anymore,. It seems more empowered. Just my .02. A true kidnapper would hate this message as he's no longer in control.

Let us not count. Nancy's children know what to do.

I can only sympathize.
This is reminding me of that awful, tacky countdown timer for the Titan submersible running out of oxygen.

I don’t think the deadline tonight matters honestly, sadly I don’t believe she’s still alive. But if it is real that’s for the family and LE to think about we don’t need to count.

This is John Hinckley trying to get Jodi Foster's attention all over again. IMO, he has been stalking SG on Instagram. Someone in LE has put it together. SG"s demeanor in her latest video was 1) Taking her control back 2) A feeling of guilt or something that she was somehow indirectly, through her TV exposure the cause of some wacko stalking her and take her mother to gain her attention. Videos posted on Instagram are at stalker's direction. all of this is my opinion. Weird vibe and nuances.. JMO..I think this is the most likely path. SG looks and acts almost guilt-ridden..JMO MOO

I think the most perplexing part of this case is that the "kidnappers" have not provided proof of life. Isn't that ransom 101. Even if she isn't alive anymore you would think they would have pre-recorded one if they really wanted their money. I think the family would have paid the ransom long ago if proof of life had been provided.
I totally agree , why take her? Why take an old woman for seemingly no reason!? Now, we do see the occasional, extremely crazy, situation where they want their own of something so they take someone else’s. Like when a baby is taken out of a pregnant woman. Not pretending I know anything but I completely agree with you. JMO

FBI Director arrived in Tucson 9 hours ago. I wonder if we will have a sudden press conference in the next few hours.

I’ve never believed that any of the family is involved, and I’m angry of the posts that slandered people are written. Honestly, this is not a game of clue but of real life gut wrenching reality. Websluthers would bounce ideas of how to help solve, instead of this social media free for all of opinions and bashing.
I think some wondered about the last person known to have seen her, and then the AB statement…it took some in that direction. Then we had LE go back to the home at night with all the flashes in the garage.

I've been trying to check a few different reporters for any updates, and I've seen NOTHING. :(

No, it is not a game of clue; however, it has been said and still stands to my knowledge that NO ONE has been cleared and they have NO suspects, NO person(s)-of-interest at this time. IF they had said "the family has been cleared" then, of course, they are out of the question for discussion, but that is not the case - at least as of right now.

No one has been cleared, so it stands (within reason) that people will look at those closest to Nancy as that is what the professionals do as well. I personally haven't seen any 'bashing' but maybe I missed it.

Until the family is cleared or a person(s) has been arrested and charged - unfortunately everyone is a suspect.

SG video appeal to the public for help today is quite different from her video to alleged kidnappers on Saturday. I’m not quite sure what to make of any of this but I can say that she looks sleep deprived and likely has not been eating much since the news broke over a week ago. I just wanted to give her a hug and and fix her a casserole and insist she eat and try to take a nap. Prayers for her and her mom to be found.

It's always likely. I many high profile cases it happens and you need to weed it out. One historically famous nationally covered kidnapping story was the Charles Lindbergh baby kidnapping in 1932. It captivated the country at the time. There were 5 fake ransom notes determined in that case.

Today with AI deepfakes fake proof of life ransoms for faked kidnapping using people's altered social media are such a thing that the FBI even released a PSA about it in Dec. 2025.
The deepfakes freak me out. They really do. I know there’s certain things to look for but AI has gotten very good. It can be really hard to tell sometimes. I found myself questioning if some of SG and siblings videos were deep fakes. I find it unsettling and somewhat frightening.

If the ransom demand is determined not to be related to the original crime (i.e. a hoax/opportunist), and if they are truly as desperate/without leads as SG makes it sound in this last video, LE should really hold another press conference as it feels like there would still be a possible threat to the public.
They should ask for the public’s help again, here’s a picture of the blue truck we’re looking for etc., but then again, maybe they don’t need help. I keep bringing this up and will do my best to let it go.

What's the specific time-frame for holding someone for questioning before making an arrest or letting them go? 48 hrs? Is Federal detention longer?

  • #15,379
As awful as this sounds, SG also has her professional credibility at stake.
I think most people would just view her as a human who wants her mom back.

There was a warning for parents that scammers use social media snippets to get your kids voice then call/text you and deepfake your kids voice for a ransom. Just horrible stuff. And yeah, a lot of the AI videos out there now are surprisingly good for the layman, Fortunately the FBI has some ways of detecting these things, but with the speed we're moving at that's even getting harder. Strange days indeed.
