Likely not. But it should be alarming for anyone within a days drive from the border.

You’ve brought up the border like a dozen times in an hour with zero evidence besides a hunch. You are entitled to your own opinion, but it feels highly illogical to me that Mexican cartels would break international law and risk an American military invasion for 6 million dollars, which is not a lot of money for these gangs. Maybe give it a beat as we wait for new info?

I know we are all grasping in the dark because we have no solid info, but I have a feeling there will be a much simpler explanation than transnational kidnapping gangs.

Ok yes it just seems that many people here aren't really engaging the question in good faith of what's reasonable for NG based on what we know about her. Anecdotal stories about people in different circumstances (age, health, mobility, health issues) are, frankly, irrelevant. I've been speaking about what I know about NG based on reporting and on people I know who ARE in similar condition to her, and what would be considered reasonable in my opinion.

I also think many older people may not want to lose their freedom and can downplay issues they may be having, or family members are also in denial somewhat about aging and the (often very sudden) risks for older people that can become irreversible problems (such as a bad fall).

Not totally related to your post, I do think personally and in my opinion only, that SG was somewhat naive about her mother's living situation given all the circumstances. I'm not sure what the answer would be, and I'm not saying she should have lived in a facility by any means.

Also SG being a public figure who I'm sure has had stalkers (I have as well and it changes how you see your safety and living situation and those of your family) it just all seems a bit naive.

Who benefits from this? At first glance you might think a cash strapped daughter and SIL? I just don’t see it. It’s too messy. No body and suspicious circumstances? Good luck getting an insurance payout or quick estate settlement.

I don't totally disagree with you about the messiness of it. But SG's pockets are quite deep, compared to her sister who I have read in other posts may be in debt with her husband to some extent, and live in a home worth under $1M compared to SG's real estate and net worth.

I think under certain circumstances, not least of which the strain and stress of being a primary caretaker, could affect this calculation for them.

I also think it's worth pointing out that anyone that tries to harm a family member probably isn't in their right mind in the first place, or a good person

Why does everyone think this was a botched or bungled kidnapping? Seems pretty clean to me and all the leverage is in the hands of a completely anonymous party.

We still do not know if the crimes are related, or committed by the same persons. After a week, we are still in the dark. JMO

I think it's less about wishful thinking and more that the information that is publicly available and the actions of law enforcement make it really ambiguous as to whether the disappearance of Nancy and the ransom demand are the work of the same person/s.

but, I hope all the wheeled trash bins have been accounted for at NG’s home?

I just recalled another case here where a killer attacked and placed the victim in one and wheeled the bin off the property into a van, so that the victim was later reported missing. I believe the perpetrator dumped the bin (with her remains) in some rural area.

I know, horrible.

I just read tonight about a murder victim's body transported in a similar way. The body was only discovered when a woman told officers investigating a tip that she had seen people pushing a wheeled trash can behind an abandoned building at night. This victim was hidden only a block away from where he was killed but it prevented his recovery for weeks.

Interesting idea. The topography in NG's neighborhood makes putting a body in something with wheels and pushing it a long distance to a disposal site feasible without risk of being seen or recorded. The roads are well paved. There's little through traffic in the neighborhood. Late at night, it's unlikely a vehicle would come along. If one did, the headlights would be visible from a long way. The plants and dark-sky lighting shield activity on the road from security cameras or any night owls in the neighborhood. A murderer could get the victim's body well beyond the immediate area of the victim's house and place the body in a remote area. Then wheel the container someplace else along your route to a main road. Continue on the road to a main road by foot or cross-country.
