AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

The bizarre part of his story to me is that he says the police were following the car that his wife was driving. His wife pulled over the car and he got out of the passenger side before the police ever turned on their lights? Who does that?
Law Enforcement does that.

High profile celebrity case = nutjobs / scammers trying to gain from the hype imo

How likely is an 84 year old with a pacemaker to have a heart attack from the onset of panic induced by this masked and armed man breaking into her home . What's the balance of probability?

I don't think this was a kidnapping per se , I think it was a robbery resulting in a death of home owner

Perp may have previous for breaking and entering but manslaughter/ homicide wasn't on his bingo card of charges he was willing to take .so he concealed her body

The desert is expansive so plenty of area in which to conceal

This was not a kidnapping done with military precision, with a fine tuned operation from kidnap to demand , perp had to improvise , flowers/ plants from scene used , torch was held in his mouth ,which then transfers spittle onto glove when placing it back in a pocket

The bulk in his backpack could very well be a larger hold all for the loot he expected to gain

Jmo and imo
This is the closest summary I've seen to what I think happened. Great post!

All IMO/MOO.

Someone mentioned DNA shedding/new clothing - I just don't think this person was that sophisticated (also IMO/MOO).

I still don't think that blood is related to the crime. Meaning, she could have lost a few drops of blood at any time, with her elderly skin being so thin and all. It's entirely possible the police only mentioned the blood because the journalist, BE, went up to the front door, saw the blood, and reported on it. That should have never happened. LE should have never let anyone near that house. Because we know the blood is NG's, and if LE thinks it was deposited there during the crime, then BE basically tampered (unknowingly) with the crime scene.

IMO
Few drops? It's a veritable pool.

Agreed.
Walking somewhat stiffly, it would appear ?
At first I thought it was a bow-legged saunter, but more like moving slowly due to padded layers of clothing ?
Wonder if the person is a woman ?
Hmmm.
Omo.
I think it’s definitely a woman!

Is it possible the suspects used a private helicopter to move Nancy?
Aside from anything else, a helicopter would be LOUD. No way one would get in and out of a neighbourhood unnoticed

ONE live streamer is out in desert looking for FBI...this is getting crazy.

That's a fair amount of blood drops to just leave at your front door. Even if you got a sudden nose bleed and left it for later, I think most people would have hosed it off or mopped it up as soon as they could.

His bulky gloves look like they go up further than his wrists
I think bad information was reported by this CNN guest regarding a tattoo. I’m trying to see if a mod can delete that part of my post. If not, I will delete the whole thing since I’m no longer able to edit.

Easy for one person to move a person unconscious/no longer alive. I don't even want to follow that train of thought.
IMO, it absolutely is not.

In that case - a boat? Are there any canals or rivers in the area?

Has something been stated that the internet was disabled?
I can't find it anywhere now but last Thursday evening I was watching the CourtTV livestream and their reporter mentioned that an adjacent neighbor also had her cameras disconnect that night. I've looked on the CourtTV website and YouTube channel and they don't have their livestream up from that evening... maybe LE asked them not to put that out there. But I definitely heard the reporter clearly.

Quick thought...NG would need to eat. Does anyone know if she has any food restrictions due to medical condition/medications/allergies? If so, the perp/perps could raise an alarm with a checkout clerk and notice their usual food items have changed.

There was discussion of bears and coyotes yesterday. Could the perps have left the house unlocked and these animals have gone in, and… eaten Nancy’s body? That might explain the blood by the door.
Nooooo, LOL

“Recovery” is ominous. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.
I think they think she is deceased. While I'm sure they would love to be proved wrong, maybe they were afraid that "rescue" would encourage false hope in her family.

She most likely had a wheelchair for other people to transport her to doctor's appointments or to take her shopping.
There is nothing that points to this. There is no actual cre
My great grandmother weighed about 150lbs. She was partially mobile and it took a man and a woman to get her up and around. Old people weight seems very heavy for some reason because they aren't helping out with their muscles. More like dead weight, if that makes sense. I could see it being even harder to do if she fell, was bleeding, etc.there a

I think they should just pay out the 1 bitcoin claim and see if it leads anywhere. Time is of essence and unless they have a very strong lead they are pursuing, they are giving up the chance for NG’s safe recovery.
The problem with doing that is that could easily lead to false claims asking for more of the same. Because unfortunately, HL would absolutely report on this.

Went to bed when the guy was detained. Woke up incredibly embarrassed for the police that they made such a show of this detention.

IMO the police or FBI did nothing to make a “show of this detention.”

They have to follow every tip, because obviously it could be the right tip.

It’s the media who made such a show. To interview a baffled mother-in-law, to allow Carlos’ full name to be broadcast when this MIL uttered his name, that is in my opinion all on the media.

I love Brian Entin, but IMO this was a misfire in the haste to get info. We never heard Carlos’ name or situation from LE.

JMO

Also there is an elderly woman's life at stake. ETA The media should show good judgment.
Agree.

That would have made a huge amount of noise that would have been reported, I would think.
