So, this just kind of thinking out loud, theorizing, and asking questions — no verified info at all, truly my opinion only. So you can freely skip this entire post if that's not of interest to you and you will miss nothing of value.
Also, I assume authorities are already doing this stuff, so I'm not trying to suggest that I'm coming up with novel ideas here; just thinking out loud and trying to learn......
On the cell phone topic, I know some things about how the cell network works, but I'm far from an expert in it. And a lot of my knowledge is probably out of date.
I'm curious if anyone here knows roughly how many active cellular devices might be in range of a tower in a neighborhood like NG's? I'm thinking probably somewhere between high hundreds and mid thousands? Quite a few, but not 100K or anything. Of course if you pulled in more towers, you'd end up with some more, but you also might be able to narrow it down by only considering devices that were talking to multiple towers such that they are more likely to be in the area of interest.
So, how big of a list do you think you'd have if you wanted to look at every single cellular device seen in the area in, say, a four hour period? You could probably quickly eliminate a bunch as known residents of the area (not saying clear those people of suspicion, but the presence of their devices here isn't notable). With cooperation from the carriers, and a team of workers, I'd think you could get through the list relatively quickly, and at least categorize into three or four buckets of relevance (ranging from "this is clearly not interesting" to "we must look into this one immediately").
Of course, it's entirely possible that, like Bryan Kohberger, the person or persons turned their devices off before entering the area. Or (less likely IMO, but possible) that they simply did not carry any devices with them. But at some point they would have to turn the device back on/reunite with it. So I guess at that point you'd have to expand the radius, which would exponentially increase the number of devices to consider. Maybe not practical. Also, very possible they used burner phones, but even that would be worthwhile to identify.
Anyway just wondering if anyone here is more deeply familiar with the cellular network and how you might approach this. (Not really interested in AI summaries and the like; I can generate those myself..)
