Yes and you can even have the "Away" alarm on when you're home for different rooms. For example, maybe the main part of the house is alarmed but the bedroom/bathroom isn't. Just as an example. I know many people have it for the first floor but not upstairs when they go to bed upstairs.A lot of people with security systems only arm them when they are away from home. My alarm system has an Away mode and a Stay mode. When in Stay mode, the motion sensors in the house are disabled, but the window and door sensors are enabled. When in Away mode, all sensors are enabled.
As for entry, let's look at possibilities:
1. Entered through a garage door. (Someone posted upthread that older garage doors are easy to defeat.)
2. Entered through an unlocked door.
3. Entered through a door by using a key.
4. Entered through a door by picking a lock.
5. Entered through a window.
For #3. I want to know who had keys to Nancy's house. Is there a possibility that someone copied a key that one of her family members or household staff kept? Also, did she hide a key outside somewhere in case she locked herself out?
It just seems like for entry there are unlimited possibilities... why the front door?
