Do we know when the backpack was first released?

If it was only recently that would possibly rule out second-hand.

It’s also possible it was gifted to the perp.
Hi everyone!

Old member here from the Casey Anthony days. Thrift store apparel has always crossed my mind when trying to find out more details about a particular item. Particularly if it was purchased a long time ago. I think it would be a lost cause to even try. But anything is possible, I suppose.

Also, something else I've been thinking about....with the large population of homes in that area, I'm sure the homeowners association would know if any of the homes are vacant. Does anyone know if LE has checked any of these properties? I would assume it would be SOP.

My theories have been all over the place since Day 1 but one thought that hasn't changed for me is...I don't think she ever left the foothills since being removed from her home.

The Guthrie family is in my prayers and thoughts. Please, dear Lord, bring peace to Nancy and her family.

Apologies if this has been answered here, but regarding the news that the blood on the porch likely indicates that she was bleeding from "either her hands or face". How would they know this? A poster upthread thought they'd read that the blood had been aspirated, but how does that track with bleeding from the hands. Can anyone shed light on this? TIA!
Its possible the droplets were looked at up close, measured under magnification. See what happens when a drop of paint drops from your fingertips to the floor on your garage floor. Now, maybe if it rolled down your leg and went off your heal it would look different. The way it slides down straight off your chin or fingertips might look different when it dried from if it rolled off your ankle. Just a guess.

Thank you @MassGuy.

Unless LE can pinpoint that NG hand or face blood is from early AM 2/1, then as I've suggested ^, I wonder if that was blood from an everyday bleed for an 84 year old likely on an anti-coagulent (my suspicion per recent pics).

She could have a bleed that started when she got out of a carental in her driveway - caught her hand on something... or maybe her return from her mailbox where she bumped her had.

Then in this scenario, when she stopped at the door to get in (get keys?), she would have dropped a concentration of blood, likely from her hand. IMO.
I'm no expert but I listened to one say that the there's a lot of NGs blood. In fact, last night a doctor posted and said they work with elderly patients and this is not the blood of such a cut. Too much

I’m in complete agreement, the perps wanted NG dead (sorry), gone. But why?

A theory:
I thought NG maybe saw something, maybe drugs in a workers trunk( for their night job!), and maybe Nancy said “are those drugs?”, the man waved her off, “ no worries, no, not drugs, closed trunk.

Later he thought, what is she reports him, something as simple as that. He thought NG might be a risk to his freedom, if she stayed alive.
Just another idea idea, JMO
I had similar thoughts about a worker she may have accused of fraud or theft.... someone who wanted her silenced.

I have been wondering the same thing! Years ago the famous baseball player Cal Ripken's mother was abducted. Her kidnapper drove her around for a day before finally dropping her back off at home, unharmed. No ransom, no demands, nothing. They still don't know who did it, but a popular theory is that he tried to abduct a random old lady to get some cash, but started freaking out when he saw on the news that he'd abducted the mother of one of Baltimore's most beloved celebrities.

More about that, here: Cal Ripken's mom abducted, now safe
Oh, yes. I'd forgotten about that. She was dropped off as LE response and media coverage were ramping up. That was such a relief.

I’m still thinking about the items being taken out of AG residence in brown bags yesterday. Obviously they are not the person shown in the camera footage, so their involvement is unlikely IMO. But what were they taking?

Don’t overthink it too much. His motive for disabling the camera was concealment. Be that him alone, other people, NG.

Well sure. But his behavior may provide inferences into other facts that are currently unknown.

IMO that has nothing to do with any of this
I said that because I thought I read the video released today (with the man with 2 backpacks) was filmed 5 miles south of Nancy's house, which is the opposite of Nancy's neighborhood. Maybe I got that wrong...

What do you make of the ransom author saying per Harvey Levin that Nancy's watch was at the foot of a bed?
When I think foot of the bed I think a bench. How many people have a dresser 3 or more feet away from the foot of the bed?

I think they were gathering personal items for the family.

If NG was removed in a body bag, can you explain the presence of the blood on the doorstep?
I definitely think this was personal and that someone wanted her gone. We need to just figure out who and why. As far as the blood droplets on her doorstep, maybe she was smacked at the doorstep, and then carried somewhere. Just saying

It's unfathomable that investigators just TODAY removed the Nest mounting bracket after knowing the perpetrator had touched it. Who knows how many random people have messed with it over the last 12 days.

Sometimes I feel like some organization/group/aliens is conducting some kind of social experiment on the whole entire US population with this case.

I know that’s not happening but boy it feels like it.

Right on @penguinface

LE does not want theories from the public. They have established tip lines asking for information from specific date ranges, in specific areas, observed first hand suspicious activity in the targeted areas, person(s) that stand out to them, etc. And the most crucial IMO do you recognize this person Yes (we want to know) or No (thanks for looking)? Not using AI tools on the suspect and submit those as tips and so on. Do you know this person, do you recognize anything they are wearing? Yes or No. IMO

LE does not want theories, that is mostly what we do here at WS!

Follow evidence, come up with motive, and more!

I think they do have someone reading WS and Reddit, looking for “Papa Rodgers” type posts.

I think someone with direct knowledge of the crime scene let that slip to Mr. Levin. Just saying

Authorities launched a large-scale search shortly thereafter, and Nancy's home was subsequently declared a crime scene. Two deadlines outlined on an alleged ransom note sent to several media outlets passed, with the Guthrie family declining to meet the $4 million, and then $6 million demand.

I’d say with the way they grabbed the mail, it’s nothing

While it's true that she may have bled easily, blood isn't visible on the tiles in the video that the FBI recovered from the Nest doorbell camera. So it appears that the blood must have gotten there after the masked man disables the camera.
