They likely wanted to wait until they had a suspect description to go with it. They wanted to make sure the height was right, which may have been why they returned this morning.
Yes, likely but still, 2 days to get agents out there just for a height estimate measurement?

Yes, I read that they were found down the road.
Someone posted a map p, a while back showing the location of where the gloves were found, earlier in thread, just remembered the red line from NGs house to gloves.

We need a map, where all the evidence has been found.

I might be way off, I’m behind. Reading what I missed soon.

Hispanic people are considerably taller in Northern Mexico and the US than in central Mexico and points south. Latino men of 5' 9" or 10" and even up to 6' are not at all uncommon in Sonora, Chihuahua and the US border states.

Those examples would be the ones that skew the average upwards, and probably have more European DNA intertwined due to proximity to US/Canada and mating habits over a few generations. I don't know how tall the guy they detained was, but he didn't appear to be 5'9/5'10. Could have been - I'm 6'4 so I am not exactly a good visual judge of someone by average height - but he looked shorter than say, most average American Caucasian or American Black men.

A thought came to me and I haven’t seen this idea discussed anywhere else.

What if this whole thing did in fact start as a regular old random robbery/break in? Perhaps the guy knew an old lady lived there but nothing more. Then in the process, the bad guy learned about the “rich and famous” daughter and he pivoted to a stupid spur of the moment kidnap/ransom idea.

Say he comes in, finds Nancy, and starts demanding cash but she doesn’t have any to give him. He has a gun and Nancy panics. What if she says hey don’t hurt me, my daughter is on tv and can get you money. We can work this out.

Then the wheels start turning and this fool thinks hey, I could do a kidnap/ransom and get big $$$ 🤑 He’s a bumbling fool though and didn’t think any of it through. He has no idea how to contact the family with his ransom demand so he contacts the news.
The thing is that if he wanted money from SG, NG could have just given him her phone number, and perhaps he could have gotten some ransom money without all this publicity.

You can buy Ozark Trail backpacks at Walmart and Amazon, so almost impossible to track down, BUT I would ask the Walmart on Speedway Blvd in Tucson for all Ozark Backpack purchases in the last 6 months.

Don’t need it if she’s dead.
Why on earth would someone break into her house intending to rob or kidnap her and then, after she dies, hang around and mutilate her body to remove a pacemaker? It's not like they can hock it. Or give it to someone.

Where there is a video with two backpacks, there could be a partner in crime or a very big coincidence.

Reward now $100,000. FBI releases approximate height of suspect is 5’9” to 5’10”. Confirmed they believe it is the Ozark backpack we have been talking about. Screenshot of FBI statement included in article.

Doesn’t it seem reasonable for investigators to look at the street traffic cameras and see who was out at 1:30-3am? Who drove in that direction towards NG’s house and then see if any of those same vehicles later traveled in the direction away from NG’s area. Surely, there can’t be too many out at that time of the morning.
I’ve wondered the same thing. Surely there must be a car, or two that fit the timeline. Need color make/model, license number would be great, if possible.

This isn't exactly directed at your comment, just jumping on it. If anyone looks at the 2nd video of the guy with two backpacks, they have his face blurred but his skin looks light, like Caucasian, and bald (I don't think he's wearing the face mask in the video). And, another thing: why have they blurred his face if they want tips on who he is????

Couple thoughts about the pacemaker:

1. If it was just a random perp, they wouldn't even know NG had a pacemaker (unless she said something).

2. Up until everything disconnected, LE should have a record of her health/activity from her phone/watch/pacemaker. Not sure how much info is transmitted, but couldn't LE see if she was up moving around and/or if her heart rate spiked, etc.? If I saw that perp in my house in the middle of the night, I'm pretty sure my heart rate would go through the roof.

I don’t think it was a robbery, JMO.
I think the bag was full because of rope, gag, body bag, to get her out of the house more easily.
I’ve moved away from the ransom/ kidnapper theory. I think the ransom people were just opportunists. No proof of life, etc.
I think, someone wanted her gone, ( dead, sorry) but why?
If it really is a ransom abduction, they’ve gone about it all wrong.

Everyone knows you need to offer proof of life. That’s Ransom 101. As risky as that might be for the abductor, it’s a necessary part of getting the money.

On one hand, they apparently have insider knowledge. On the other, they’re giving bluffing vibes.

Has anyone ever paid such sums without proof of life?

When my friend went missing, some scammers contacted her boyfriend saying they’d abducted her and wanted money. Even they knew to send a photo.

This case is giving me LS vibes. I hope they are looking at people trying to insert themselves into the investigation. This perpetrator thinks he's smarter than everyone just like she did.

Not that it's a critical point, and it doesn't narrow down the search that much, but Ozark Trail is a Walmart private label, so I don't think you'll find it on Amazon unless someone is re-selling.

Source, Ozark Trail is a registered trademark of Walmart (my screenshot from uspto.gov):
