Maybe NG didn’t lock the back?
Maybe somebody in on this was in the house earlier and left a window unlocked. Although unlikely since I think this case would have been already solved.
Maybe he had an extra key?
Maybe picked a lock?

Like you I find it hard to believe NG let this person in. Not with him looking like that.
In a large house like that I think it's very possible to unintentionally leave a door or window unlocked.

Ok, There is no apparent sign of forced entry on the front door. No glass or apparent broken door in the back. So how did they get in?? Is it possible that whoever did this had a key? Not necessarily that they SHOULD have had one. Maybe they "borrowed" one and made a copy. Either that, or it was someone she trusted and she let them in. I can't imagine her letting them in, unless she knew and trusted them. Does anyone have other ideas?
Was it a warm-ish night where she might have cracked a window open for the night air to come in? Just a thought. I don’t know.

I recall reading in a NYTimes article that she’d open her windows during the summer.

I think it takes a lot of time. In Arizona there are over 120 Walmarts or Walmart affliliated stores. Let’s just assume there are 500 purchases per hour on average each 24 hours. Thats over a millions transactions to review per day. If they can pinpoint by product, lets just say each store sells 10 backpacks per day. If you looked back 5 days before the event, that is still over 6000 transactions to review. It is a lot of data to parse for sure.

If we add in California, There is over 300 stores.

All they have to do is look at the sku and time/date purchased and pull up the camera footage for that transaction.

I see downturned lashes.
Agreed I think this suspect just has some really weird eye structure. Really big and upturned eyes, lots of room in bleph area, lots of space between corner of eye and nose.

I don’t know about her credit/debit cards, but this older article says: (bbm)

“Nancy Guthrie's belongings, including her purse, wallet, cell phone, and vehicle were at her home. PCSD said she suffers from limited mobility and her medications that she needs are still inside of her house.”

Occasionally elders (particularly with dementia, and the like) 'wander off'.

I wonder if that was the thinking of the perp. And look, she took nothing with her!

Except NG is sharp as a tack.

They thought wrong.

The things your mention are what made me think this is a mask/disguise. Really unnatural. Brow does not arch towards the nose, it goes straight across all the way to the center of the nose, but not in a unibrow sort of way.

Almost looks like they shaved or covered their own brows with tape, and then glued on fake brows. And also fake lashes, with mascara and eyeliner.

Leaving everything behind is likely a strategy to avoid losing track of something of hers that would give them away.

I think the unknown male DNA found in NG's house is the best lead they have atm because it's linked to the crime scene. In saying that, we don't have enough information to determine how important this DNA is as it's dependant on where it was found and what type of sample it is, i.e. hair, skin, blood or other bodily fluids.

If I were LE, i'd be wanting to try and identify the donor by using genetic genealogy on the sample. I'm sort of hoping that they're being quiet about it because they are working on the sample.
Brian Entin did a great interview of a genetic genealogist about this case.

I noticed this just now. Look at his droopy upper eyelids. They look to be almost covering his upper lashes. I thought he was quite young at first till I noticed this. View attachment 645655
I don't see droopy. I don't see a second mask. I see a hooded eyelid and possible epicanthal fold. Both are quite common in various ethnicities. Epicanthal folds have been found "in 50% of the Latino population (...). Epicanthal folds in normal adults are typically attributed to Asian heritage and are rare in Caucasians."

Also this is not an older person, early 30's to 40 yo tops. All IMO.

I believe I read the low that night was 34.

Maybe there is footage that has not been shared with the public, that shows more of what happened that night.
I absolutely think this is the case. Rarely do police release everything. I’m sure they have more footage of MM in the Tepe murder case than just like 10 seconds or however long it was of him walking in the alley.

Call me crazy, but I think checking into gun stores isn’t very helpful. Most people who have guns, already have them. I doubt most criminals buy a gun right before committing a crime. Usually you have a gun you’re comfortable using and it’s not a last minute purchase. Totally my own opinion.

Edited to add— I’m grateful they’re checking into things though!
I do not know if that’s true in this case though… he seemed bumbling and it appears his outfit and backpack are new. The holster may be new as well and so might the gun. It’s already been noted the holster was not made for that type of gun.

Is that the door in the front? A private terrace?
Yes, sorry. That is a tiny piece of photo taken of the front.

Edit to add it is a window and not a sliding door. I looked at it from several angles. Of course this was taken nearly 2 weeks after the fact but it looks open.

New items so there’s no dna on them
