Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Bordeaux missing for nearly a year

And as for how the family is doing?

"As well as expected, I guess. You know, just trying to stay together and stay optimistic, because everybody wants to look at it from the angle that she's gone, that she's dead," Henson told us. "But there's no proof of that. So why would anybody want that or say that?"

Her poor family. :(

Good post! I feel the same way, and believe what is happening is that thugs are becoming smarter and no longer being caught off guard by DNA linking them to a crimes like was happening a few years back when advances in DNA allowed many cold cases to then be solved.

Regarding gals going missing or murdered after being in a bar at night - one common denominator is when she gives someone she's just met, or doesn't know well a ride home, or gets a ride from this sort of person - is the perp acting on impulse once alone in a car... considering they are not being caught seems they have a plan in place to attack/rape all along and just are waiting for a victim..

It almost seems to me that women should have a plan ahead of time, BEFORE the night out, as to how they are going to get home or who they are going to allow in their vehicle with them. Being in vehicles or leaving bars with someone they barely met that night or hardly knows at all is a deadly mistake and miscalculation. I wonder if the alcohol in their system is causing them to use less caution to dangerous situations then they normally would.

It's been almost a year and there has been no movement on Kelli's case. I feel so bad for her family.

Tomorrow, April 14th, is the one year anniversary since Army soldier Kelli Bordeaux has been missing from Fayetteville, North Carolina.

One year later, and I fear we are no closer to finding Kelli and holding the one responsible for her disappearance accountable than we were the day she went missing. My thoughts and prayers are with her family today as we mark this dreaded anniversary, and I pray that she will somehow be found and I especially pray that justice will be served.

This is the first time we've heard that Holbert lied to LE about when he got back to the bar that night. I still think it's extremely likely that Holbert is responsible for whatever happened to Kelli. From the article:

Whether Holbert returned to Froggy Bottoms isn't clear. He told investigators he went back to the bar, something Locklear said proved to be false.

"Nick was not truthful with us about when he returned to Froggy Bottoms," Locklear said.

Locklear said he has not been able to determine how long Holbert was gone.

Locklear knows from checking records that two text messages were sent from Kelli's cellphone to a friend shortly after she left the bar. Locklear would not identify that friend.

The first message was sent at 12:46 a.m.

"Oh, well, Nick is driving me home now. I'm going to get out ASAP. Call me."

The last message was sent at 1:24 a.m.

"Got home safe. I'm going to bed, I'm tired and drunk, call me tomorrow."

Neither Locklear nor Kelli's family believe she sent that final message. They say it's not in her nature and out of character.

...............

My guess is that there may be a kernel of truth in Holbert's story. Maybe at some point Kelli was really freaked out by his behavior in the car, so she told him to just let her out on the side of the road wherever they were. He didn't pull over and let her out at the time but used what she had said to come up with his BS story.

I saw that too in the article, but I thought VOH said he did return to the bar that night. A lot of "new" information in that article.

Very interesting article. Is this new about the texts? For some reason and it could just be time, this is to me new information. It sounds like NH is a prime suspect, but the text about getting out ASAP, sounds to me like someone was bothering her at the bar that wasn't NH? Wonder if someone was bothering her and if she did get out when NH says, what if someone followed her home from the bar? I believe Voh said no one left after her , but what if the person had already left and was in the lot? Or maybe NH wasn't acting by himself? What ever happened to the Froggy Bottoms owner? Is he still in jail in Massachusetts on his child support charges? Was he in the area that evening?

Thinking about Kelli and her family today, especially her sister.

Can't believe this has gone on so long...

VOH never stated an opinion about if Nick returned to the club or not.

I saw that too in the article, but I thought VOH said he did return to the bar that night. A lot of "new" information in that article.

Thought Voh had said something about NH being back in 10 min it so many threads ago?
