NC vs. Raven Abaroa ~ the Trial 3

  • #1,141
Another assumption on her part--she is trying to sway the jury with assumptions. Not facts in evidence. I don't like this at all. Too much that has been said by this defense attorney is not factual. The law in NC states that opening and closing arguments do not have to be factual, but this is going well beyond the norm.
Thank you for stating exactly what I was thinking.

Good morning all. Hugs all around and prayers that Charlene speaks slowly and clearly and ties this all together for the jurors.

The dogs being in the shed is important to the premeditation. She had to address it by saying Raven put them in the shed so that he and Janet could get a good night's sleep.

Another issue.... Donna said she stood in the doorway to take those photos.... she didn't say she walked around the deck. False Mani!!!!!

Haha, sorry WS. Didn't realize I would get edited - I even put asterisks in so that it didn't say the full word! Hahaha. :) Oops.

This is maddening.... Mani is spouting false assumptions and conclusions. I don't know if I can handle this without losing my ship. Let me know if I get out of line. I don't want to get banned today.

Two separate stains? We just went over that. Donna said they were the SAME stain - is the def. just out lying? There WAS no confusion in the testimony lady. Only in your mind. I knew I wasn't going to like this def. lady.

She's been blaming the EMts and LE for leaving footprints and other stuff, now--why can't she assume that the extraneous DNA on the door could have been theirs too.

WTF! I totally agree. How can she stand up there and LIE about the actual evidence?

And yes abc11 is airing the feed WRAL can't seem to get with it and again; doesn't have their feed up Yet. .....

It's been up for me, Cherry -- no problems. I put a link in a prior comment to NCEAST.

Re Closing Arguments in Superior Court in NC:

The State always has the last argument in Closing unless the Defense does not put on a CIC.

Sometimes the Def decides the State's case does not merit presenting their own evidence, so they do not. This gives the Defense the last argument in closing.

If the Defense presents a CIC, then the State has the last word, and this is what we have here today in this case.

No error here; this is basic procedure.

We'll see what we'll see, today, folks. I hope the State blows these arguments to bitz.

I know exactly what you mean. I just stepped away for a moment to fix another cup of coffee. I don't want to get banned today either but this is insane. I hope and pray the jury took good notes, have good memories, and can see through so much of what she is spouting.

Yeah, how is this not a violation of legal ethics?? I'm sorry, but you can't just make stuff up in court because you're a defense attorney. I'd be curious to read NC's legal ethics rules.

Ok I'm confused. I thought there was blood on the door of the vehicle? And I thought it was positive for Janet's DNA?
Isn't that why the story of him going out to the vehicle came up.

She likes to use the word "confusion". Ok - now this detective is lying, too? haha

Again, exactly what I am thinking. Thank you. This is making me crazy. How can she be allowed to completely make up her own 'facts' like this. Some of the things she's saying are completely WRONG. Not facts in evidence, NOT true, NOT what happened at all.

Ah yes. The Great Coin Thief of Ferrand Drive. We all know that dime theft is a precursor to murder!

I hope Charlene doesn't speak 'at' the jury in this kind of speed and pace. I pray she speaks slowly and clearly and explain the actual evidence in a clear easily absorbed way for the jurors. One good thing, to me, is that Mani is zooming so fast and crazy I hope the jurors can see/hear this.

hahahaha

Ok now, is this "all ya got?" Attack the state, attack the evidence, BUT where is the defense Slayer Abaroa didn't do this? Where is the defense Slayer Abaroa couldn't have done this?

oh my, the emails.....this is really pathetic.....

He spilled his guts alright. Each new story (read lie) was more spilling.

This dime evidence is laughable! I laughed right out loud when she mentioned the dime again. I hope the jury did too.

I'm sorry, but how is meeting with detectives twice and then NEVER checking on the case for YEARS "spilling your guts"? You'd think he would've actually cared about catching the real killer if he didn't do it...
