NC vs. Raven Abaroa ~ the Trial

The only thief in the neighborhood that I know of for sure was Raven.

They had to show the tires, because we all heard the lengthy defense opening statement about how LE did not do their job.

I mean, what's the significance of the gatorade bottle. How about the wedding rings near the sink.

Anyone find it odd there was no blood in Kaidens room? Raven put a hand print on Janet, then went to get Kaiden from the crib. I found that odd.
Are you able to help me understand better? Raven killed Janet BEFORE he left for soccer - is that correct?
If true, he would have cleaned up before going to soccer. Way before he got home to finally attend to Kaiden.

Oh, are you saying he touched Janet after he got home?

Hi fellow WSers. I'm new to WS (although I've lurked in the Travis Alexander board) I have a question... Has the husband offered another solution to her murder? TIA

(hope I'm doing this correctly!)

You're doing it just fine, GoSea!!

suicide????????
As in she stabbed herself in the neck and had defensive wounds from her own stab?
If this is the mindset of the DT, it should be an open and shut case.

Well, now, JJ, let's give him credit where it's due -- his first try was suicide, but he had a few years to ponder it, and now he says intruder... He's a thinkin' man, ya know...

Yeah, the Neighborhood Coin Thief just walked right in -- she was alone with an infant, the doors not locked, the lights on -- and went right upstairs and stabbed her to death. Then left.

I believe that it's strongly believed that he killed her before the soccer game, and then left Kaiden in his crib. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure.

For the life of me I can't find a link to the ABC Primetime show that they did on the case. I spent hours transcribing it and even those files are nowhere to be found. Sorry about that.

(My DH who did a whole lot of work on this with me passed away last summer and I am guessing a lot of my files are on his computer, which isn't up and running anymore.)

If anyone finds a link to that show anywhere I'd love to have it.

I'm so sorry about your husband. Thank you again for all of the help you are giving us on this case.

Justice, I have my theory, but we'll have to see what Prosecutors come up with. I believe janet was murdered about 8:00. I believe he took his clothes, his laptop, his knife collection and played soccer. I believe he came home, then ran upstairs and then started his acting.

I'm just going to sit back and watch the prosecution played out.

I'm tired. I have spent 8 years here daily, unfortunately, while working I cannot post during the day. I have to wait until I am home to post and I'm just worn out. I have to view all the tapes and by the time I do that, I'm just to tired.

Thanks to everyone who cares about Justice for Janet and her family.

Prayers are being said for the all those that are testifying, it's not easy for these people that loved her, the Jury, the Judge, Charlene Coggins-Franks and Luke Bumm. Please let there be Justice for Janet and her unborn child. Please don't let that sociopath Raven get away with murder. I believe he will kill again.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like the two of you did a lot of activities together, and it must be bittersweet to see one of your joint projects come to a final conclusion without him. It must also bring back the sweet memories of working beside him. I pray for peace for you, my friend.

Eight years is a long time to wait for Lady Justice to do her duty. What an agonizing journey - I can't even imagine. Bless you for your perseverance. I hope getting justice finally will help you, and all who care for Janet get some peace and rest.

No I didn't know Janet personally... I became involved with the case here at WS and back then my husband and I built websites for a living. Janet's family asked us to help them build a memorial website for Janet. TearsforJanet.com. During that time I flew out to Durham to meet the family and help with the Candle Light Vigil and after that stayed pretty wrapped up in the whole case. I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of Janet's family and close friends over that time period, gathering photos, and lot's of emails with ideas and info for the website back and forth, that kind of thing.

ETA: It was really hard not to fall in love with this family. They are really strong amazing people. Mrs. C is a special kind of woman, that's a fact!

I went to the website for the first time tonight, LL&S -- before I knew it was a part of you.

It's a beautiful creation -- poignant, sweet, feminine, prayerful, sad but not too sad, good facts, attractive in a subdued and respectful way, and something of which you should be very proud. I will go back to it. It is very fine.

Raven has custody... his mother Karen has him while he's been in jail.

Is that gonna be the way it stays? -- I guess Kaiden is now, what? 8 years old? Is there any visitation with Janet's family? I hope so. It's tragic for that child. He's old enuff to understand many things.... Do you know anything about how he is doing or what he thinks is going on?

That's an interesting note on the date. I took it as correct, of course, and wondered why he would wait so long to do something like that - I mean if one would EVER do something like that.
Was Raven ever a suspect early in the investigation?

Oh, I think he was from the get-go. Think about it -- what motive would anyone else have? Their 3 arguments loud enuff for a neighbor to hear (and their house was way back from the street...), the scene with her on the hood of his car (that azz), their separation, his trouble with embezzlement and other general failures....the investigators worked in a big town with a lot of crime -- as in any city of its size, no robbery except HIS computer missing, etc, etc, they weren't born yesterday.

And the blood in his car -- was it hers? We don't know yet, but they do -- so wouldn't that be enuff for probable cause for an arrest if it had been hers? I want to see the arrest warrant -- it will have the P.C. on it.... grrrrr

I see you are here now borndem - can you explain the appearance of snow in the evidence pix to me please? Is it snow, or not?
I still need to go check out the earliest posts, so I can get a handle on this case, but the snow question won't be there.

Which pictures? I didn't see any that had something that looked like snow. I must have missed seeing them somehow. Were they taken in late April? Very puzzling, JJ. I wanna see 'em because I know they're driving you a bit batty, my friend!

The testimony this AM said the pix in question were taken March 9th. One especially - did you see what may have been a video (or maybe just still shots) of two men at the bottom of the driveway - over the bridge? I can't figure out what I'm seeing if it isn't snow.
You pegged me - lol. Sometimes I get stuck on something unimportant, and it just bugs me until I can figure it out.
We live in WI, and had so much snow this winter. Does that area EVER get snow?
I did hear the witness testify about all of the pollen - and I couldn't make that jive with the snow I thought I saw.
Go ahead - just give me any ol answer, and I'll pretend, so I can let go of it. lol

See all of you in the AM. Good night.

ITA -- East, I have been having WS flashbacks to Jason Young ever since this trial started. Both philanderers, both having each successive job worse than the one before it, both with wives pregnant with their second child whom he did not want, both too cheap and too broke to want to pay alimony and/or child support, both lazy & married to go-getters, both narcissistic & arrogant, both thinking they had gotten away with it (and did for a while), and on & on & on.

I would love to see RA end up in Alexander Correctional with Mr. Young. For life.

It's textbook erasers. Remember that book we both read after the Young trial sister Borndem? What was the title?

There was a custody hearing many years ago and the Abaroa's got custody. Other than that I don't hear much of that particular part of this. It's very heart breaking and I like to let that stay private with them.

borndem, minute marker 9:47 on part 5 is the one I was thinking of, but when I have it on full screen, maybe it's just gravel? March 8 of 2006 is when they were taken.

I was in bed and woke thinking of this, so figured I may as well find it. ha

Raven started controlling Janet from the get-go.

That was polyn on the windows. In April there is a lot of yellow polyn all over the place. The area of the house had a lot of trees and was quite wooded.

Three days after the murder Raven took Kaiden and moved on his life. After the Memorial he took 6 month old Kaiden to Utah and immediately started "Mommy shopping". The Christiansens were allowed to see Kaiden if they traveled from their home in the DC area of Virgina to Utah. That was supervised visits.

Here you have this very good Mormon family, then you realize Kaiden is being raised by Raven, who is thief, a liar, a cheat. The mother, Karen I believe had been in trouble with the IRS, Ravens siblings all had issues with the law. This was not a typical mormon family. They were only mormons when they wanted help with something, they didn't follow the teachings. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to Raven and his mother. His father had been out of the picture forever.

There was no way a Judge was going to take Kaiden out of the only state and away from the only people he knew to allow him to fly 1/2 way across the country to live with Janet's family. They tried over and over to get visits with him. He could have been raised in a normal environment. The environment he is in now, is anything but normal. Kaiden doesn't have a chance. I do know that Janet was terrified Raven would end up getting Kaiden someday. Her fears came true plus some.

Years and years ago someone said, the best thing for Kaiden would be for him to be adopted out by someone not related to both. I think I was a bit upset about that, in hindsight, that person was right. It would be better for Kaiden to be with anyone but the woman raising him now, IMO.

It wasn't all that long ago, Mz Chiq -- hmmmm -- trying -- the one about wife-killers? (so romantic & all...) -- was that the subject?

Oh, and Good Morning, Peeps!!:seeya:
