Thanks for the welcome! I followed this case from afar when it happened and after the arrests, and then I sort of lost track of it. I was writing elsewhere in response to the expectation of fast arrests in the Murdaugh case in South Carolina (the murder of a mother and son of a prominent family) and raised the issue of the Wagners, as a case involving a prominent family that took a few years to produce an arrest. That got me interested in catching up with particulars.
I recalled the business about Angela Wagner essentially wanting to replace her grandchildren's mothers but I did not realize that the young women involved with or married to G4 and Jake were so badly abused, to the point that George's wife ran for her life and gave up custody. The family as a unit is highly pathological, even cult-like. But it's likely, I think, that they were involved in other criminal activities. Mass murder is not usually the starting point of criminal behavior. At any rate, I read large sections of WS threads to catch up on things (including that someone actually MARRIED Jake after Hanna was murdered) and I'm very grateful that you guys have put all this information out there. I was particularly struck by a post made by Sojourn before the arrests in which he/she said that the killers had "hunted" the Rhoden family. That sure turned out to be an excellent deduction. So thank you to all the sleuths following this case.
